You'll need a pump top. Only some reservoirs are built with the pump in mind. XSPC's bay reservoirs are, for instance. Same with a lot of Bitspower's reservoirs.

Otherwise, mounting hardware is included. I don't know if XSPC's kit comes with decoupling pads, but I'd look at getting some of those if they don't. Or just go by your local hardware store and pick up some cushiony foam, which is what those pads are :p
If I'm going to drop $800 on a new platform, I'd hope I get one CPU upgrade out of it. Though looking at the past two years of Intel, that probably won't happen.

Now leaning to 4790k to hold me off until Skylake.
The days of getting CPU upgrades out of a single socket are long gone. They went away with Socket 1366/1156.

I mean, if you started off with something like a Haswell i3, upgrading to a Broadwell i5 or i7 would be worth it. But you don't go for a big dog CPU and upgrade to an even bigger dog CPU on the same socket. That's never going to happen again.

What is it about Skylake that makes you think it'll be worth waiting for?

Looks like there's some rubber on the back side of the mount:

If not, I can find something.

It looked like the pump screwed right into the bottom of the reservoir (see this pic from the combo unit). However, I can't find anything that looks like the adapter on the bottom of the res in that pic.

Just installed a Samsung EVO ssd and I have to say... I'm starting to question my sanity.

Sure, boot times are pretty greatly improved BUT I can't say that I've noticed a tremendous difference in the amount of time it takes for applications to load nor have I noticed a huge difference in overall day to day operation. Granted it's only been a day. I'm starting to think maybe I should return it to the store though.

Am I crazy?

You are :p

Even now i will still be in awe when my machine boots up plus it actually fucking reacts when i want it to.

I will admit that years of being conditioned with Grade A shit computers plays a role in it.

If you are buying both the 170 and the XSPC D5 pump, can't you buy them together and save a few bucks?

I do like that you are going with the EK CPU block.....much better than the XSPC one IMO.

It doesn't improve my games that much either, titles nowaday seem to stream assets rather than load them in one go. Some exceptions like Wolfenstein.

Proposed routing. $60 in adapters, lol. Front 2 fans would be intake. Top 3 and rear would be exhaust. Goal would be to limit dust.

Mkenyon what kind of adapter did you use on the back side of the 360mm radiator in the PC-V7 build you did?

CPU power cable, I've seen this 3 times happening with friends of mine.

Other than that, try switching the dvi/hdmi/dp cable between your mobo and your gpu.

My mobo has no video output, it is 2011-E socket.

MSI X99S Sli Plus

edit: it was my huge-ass Asus gtx 570 that I'm reusing for the moment. It wasn't connected properly. Glad I tested that before going through my ram one by one.

Would you guys say that now is a good enough time to get a new monitor? I've been thinking of the Asus PB287Q, which would be good to replace my small cheap 22" monitor and my TV for a single solution on my desk.

I should say that I'm looking for something that is either good for games and movies and at least 27", so I can watch stuff from the bed or couch easily.

Would slapping 2 Corsair AF120 High Performance fans in place of the stock fans on the 212 EVO be a good decision? I'm thinking of doing it just because it would look really nice.

So I won't be able to go 4 sticks with that RAM?

You can use all the slots with that cooler and that memory.

I took some pictures to clarify what I mean (this is using Corsair Vengeance Pro, I don't know how the height compares to the G.SKILL Ripjaws, but it looks similar):

First picture is the configuration I'm running, no problem, according to the mobo manual the first stick should be in slot A2 so that fits easily. Second picture, I tried putting one of the RAM sticks in the first slot, but it gets pushed slightly to the right by the fan. I didn't want to try if I could force it in. Though I noticed that the fan is not perfectly aligned and mainly pushed on the lower part, so maybe if it was mounted better it would work (it's my first build, I'm just glad I haven't broken anything yet). Third picture is a side view with the RAM back in its original slot to show how much overlap there is. It's not much, so you could just mount the fan a bit higher.

Monitor market has never been better. You don't want the PB287Q, though. TN panel, bad viewing angles, bad choice for bed-desk-couch watching unless you were to angle the display exactly in the viewing direction every time. Also questionable for games since you need ridiculous hardware to run games at that resolution. Rather, look at IPS / PLS / VA 27" 1440p displays; there are plenty of choices. Asus PB278Q (lol Asus product naming) is one of them.

Geforce GTX 980 Alleged Benchmark and TDP Surfaces – Just 170W for ~110% 780 Ti Performance

[Rumor] Alleged benchmarks and TDP numbers of the Geforce GTX 980 flagship have surfaced over at Chiphell Forums. However, considering that the source is not really water tight, I will be tagging this post as rumor, and handing out all the pinches-of-salt and take-at-face-value disclaimers that go along with it. As far as the leak goes, it makes sense from a marketing stand point, so I am inclined to believe it’s true.

A card that beats the 780 Ti with a $499 price tag should hold its own very easily till AMD rolls out their next gen GPUs.The GTX 980 will be landing on the 19th of September according to reports and rumors and will be launching along side the GTX 970 with the mobility series following soon after. Nvidia is preparing quite a big reveal event for it too, as can be evident from the Game 24 event that has been scheduled. All these leaks and rumors will be laid to rest in two weeks time and we will finally know for certain, just what exactly Nvidia has been cooking for so long.

EDIT: So the rumor is saying 10% more performance over 780 Ti

If I want to do DDR4, most of the boards I am seeing have 8 slots for the RAM. Do I have to use either 4 or 8 sticks, or can I just use 2(4GB). To help my budget now, I'd like to just get 2 4GB sticks if I can.

Example:
This motherboard
with
two of this RAM

Quad channel memory so you want to use multi of 4 ram sticks, 4 or 8. You can use less, but your memory bandwidth will be cut in 1/2, 1/3 and so on.
So close. I cannot wait to build this new PC.
Me too. Received the CPU, MB and ram. I can set it up, but will waited for the braided cables. No point in using the old cables only to ripe it out a couple of days later.

Even if 980 was just equal to 780 Ti or 5% faster, that would be impressive given GM204 is a mid sized GPU with a 256-bit bus.

It bodes well for GM200 (GM210) on a smaller process. Assuming a 512-bit bus and proportionate increase in shaders / ROPs / TMUs / etc, it'll be a beast.
