Hey guys Im currently looking at headphones for a PC. Does anyone have any input on the Sennheiser 598 and and ATH-AD700X? Does one offer better audio over another?

I have a few different pairs...

- ATH-AD700, super comfy and good sound quality
- Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro, my favourite out of the bunch, closed set, fantastic sound
- Sennheiser HD 598, kinda ugly for my taste but they do sound good, they're not closed so I couldn't use them at work

If you have something to power them, I'd go with the DT 770, they sound fantastic. I grabbed a portable Fiio amp to power them at work/when traveling.

Ok, so I might be buying my PC tonight -- but before I do, I'm still working on it. The case I'm looking at is the Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ATX ATX Mid Tower Case (I've heard this case is really easy to use as far as putting parts in and whatnot so it might be good for when I decide to upgrade the system) and the cooling system will be the Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler. If I have NCIX put the PC together, I may just go ahead and get some good quality case fans to go with it.

Any suggestions on the best type of case fans? I don't want to spare any expense here (I would rather sacrifice power in terms of budget since I can always upgrade it), just because I want to make sure this thing is cool and I would rather be safe than sorry with it.

I was looking at getting two of these: Noctua NF-F12 PWM 55.0 CFM 120mm Fan, would those be good fans to get? Are there better fans in terms of air flow and noise level? I don't care about the look of it, so that's not important for me.

I've tried OC'ing it, but the BIOS keeps reporting that OC is unstable and I have to keep configuring the OC every time I boot up the PC even though it seems to run fine in games (occasional BSOD here and there). Pretty annoying.

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3R-B3

Maybe I'm missing a setting to increase stability? I also have an aftermarket cooler on it (xigmatek I think), so I tried boosting the voltage way up. Same problem.

Try core voltage 1.35V and 4.5GHz. If unstable, try 4.4GHz, then 4.3GHz and so on. If stable at X speed, you can try lowering the core voltage.

Asked a while back but didn't get any responses.

Any recommendations for mATX cases similar to the SG10? Front mounted PSU, small size but takes full size components without much issue.

About the only things I've seen are the various Bitfenix mATX cases, which seem to be around the same price and look nicer, but I don't like their interiors nearly as much. SG10 seems like it will cool much more effectively.

Definitely leaning towards this one when I upgrade, but I'm still trying to find more options for small mATX cases. ITX is not an option since I need the slots from mATX. TJ08 is also nice but bigger without any benefits (for me) other than nicer looks.

Occasional BSOD would indicate instability, even if it's rare. Might need to lower the clocks a little.

I actually lowered 2500K when I was dealing with an unrelated BSOD issue but I don't think I ever bumped it back to 4.5, I should check that.

Im going to get a little complicated, more than i probably should...Generally static pressure also applies to case fans as it does water cooling/heatsincs because you still have to pull/push through case grills/mesh, hard drive bays, wires, components etc. Noctua is a good choice, EK Vardar, Gentle Typhoons are all good choices for moving lots of air. They wont be as quiet as say silentwings 2, which are very good fans and are also good options, but they lack in static pressure where those 3 do not. You said you dont want to spare any expense, however this would be a waste. You can use corsair sp/af 120/140s and not run hot, save money for better hardware. These fans including the Noctua one you listed are ones people typically strap to a radiator, great for case fans but you wont notice the difference.

My personal opinion the 598s are better than the ATH-AD700X. Personally i've never been a fan of audio technica, although i do own a few pairs of their headphones. For purely gaming though ATH-AD700X.

Kinda random question, but I built my new PC last weekend and absolutely love it.

My processor is an i7-3770 3.40 GHz, but I had trouble locating the right motherboard for it because I needed a mobo that had a LGA1155 socket. Thankfully, I found a good board on Newegg. (now it's out of stock after I bought it, lol)

Considering the processor was an i7, why was a 1155 socket mobo hard to track down? I see that it's not very common.

Basically because it's old. Intel has been using i-series processors for nearly a decade now, so just being "i7" doesn't mean much. They change sockets with almost every new architecture, so that means the old motherboards get cleared out so retailers can make room for the new ones.

It's the same reason why stock of several year old GPUs and CPUs are hit-and-miss.

I've been helping my cousin with a new PC build but we've run into a bit of an issue. Right now he has a Corsair CX 750 watt psu but it makes his gtx 1070 screech like a banshee while my antec psu does not.

Would either of these psu's better a better choice and not have a coil whine issue with an evga superclocked gtx 1070?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16817438054

interesting, must have poor filtering. Yes both those would be good options, id lean more toward EVGA, thats just because i follow jonnyguru teardowns a ton and EVGA/super flower always impresses. I dont think they are necessarily better than the CX 750 to warrant buying a brand new PSU, maybe try the warranty first? EDIT: NVM the comments for that PSU have a lot of stuff about whine.

Anyone know if the Cooler Master 212 EVO has an issue fitting in the Fractal Node 804? Looking at dimensions it's close.

I have this build I'm considering, but I'm no PC-building expert so some feedback would be nice.
Biggest thing I'm unsure about is the motherboard. I'm also considering extra fans, but I'll save those for when I get this thing built. I also don't know if I'm missing something, I don't think so anyway.

edit: removed build, got edited

Few questions about overclocking:

If I have understood correctly, I need to set a value to "1-Core Ratio Limit" (As Sync all Cores is selected). Then set voltage to manual and set a value to "CPU Core Voltage Override"

So my questions are:
- Should I do that while XMP profile is on (from what I have gathered, it has only affected DRAM settings)?
- What multiplayer and core voltage I should start with? (I don't need any crazy overclock, maybe 4.4GHz or something).

My CPU is 6600K, Cooler is Hyper 212 EVO and PSU is EVGA Supernova 550W
I am also planning to overlock my 1070 a bit.

Can someone explain me how RAM Speeds work? The MOBO i bought supports "DDR4 2133 to 3466 (OC) MHz memory modules" so i'm wondering if i buy DDR4 3000 MHZ is going to get downlocked to 2133 and only run at 3000 when overclocked? can i choose any DDR4 with that wihin those speeds on the name or what? I tried googling, but still no good explanation OTL

That's pretty much it. 2133MHz is the (Skylake?) decided maximum and to reach speeds above that you need to overclock it. That can be quite easily done with XMP profiles, though doing it manually might be better.

oh, i see. Thanks!
Is there anything else too look at when choosing ram (compatibility wise)? aside of DDR4 and it's speed?

Anyone know if the ASUS Strix GTX 1070 graphics cards fans pull air in or blow them out?

I have a ASUS ROG STRIX-GTX1070-O8G-GAMING on order and noticed it has 2 4 pin fan headers.

I have a spare 3 pin Fractal Design Dynamic GP-14 fan and was wondering if I should plug it in to the graphics card and if so should I mount it to bottom of my case or to the side panel of my case?

Would it help if I placed a fan at the bottom of my case blowing air onto the graphics card or put it on the side to blow air onto it from there?

My build (still in progress) currently blows air in from the front and blows it out the back (CPU fan pushes air out the top).

There isn't a great updgrade for the 2500k on the same socket its pretty much near the top of the line for any gains you would get.

New socket and board would be the way to go, however the 2500k still does pretty good and its hard to recommend that big of an investment for such minimal gains.

Do you have it OC'd to 4.5?

I didn't ask the initial question but I have the same CPU OC'd to I think 4.3 and I'm glad to read your post, that it's still a decent CPU. I really had no idea where it stood these days and I can't afford a new CPU and Mobo at the moment. Putting a RX480 with it soon, hopefully will keep me going for another two years or so.

I'm not the best person to answer that, but check if your motherboard has a compatibility list.

Personally I went with G.Skill RipjawsV DDR4 3200 MHz 16 Gt (2 x 8 Gt)

That's what I'm planning on doing, either a 480 or 1060.... depending. My only issue is I have a 1440p monitor and eventually want a 4K one, but if I drive at 1080p/1440p I wouldn't mind.

I want to keep my cheap build until there's a significant improvement in CPUs (or until it dies)! 2500K at 4.4GHz, 16GB of DDR3-800, currently a 760 so I know that's needing an upgrade although... not too bad. Overwatch plays great ;) Other much more graphically intensive ones... not so much.

I've noticed a quirk in my OC'd CPU. Normally the clock speed scales to work load, but every time after the CPU has been at top speed for a while (for example a game session), the core clock would refuse to come down. How do I fix this? (Intel speed step and C-state are both on.)

Use these codes for diagnosing blue screens on 2500k.

BSOD Codes for LGA 1155 Sandy Bridge
0x124 = add/remove vcore or QPI/VTT voltage (usually Vcore, once it was QPI/VTT)
0x101 = add more vcore
0x50 = RAM timings/Frequency add DDR3 voltage or add QPI/VTT
0x1E = add more vcore
0x3B = add more vcore
0xD1 = add QPI/VTT voltage
0x9C = QPI/VTT most likely, but increasing vcore has helped in some instances
0X109 = add DDR3 voltage
0x0A = add QPI/VTT voltage
0x1A = Memory management error. It usually means a bad stick of Ram. Test with Memtest, try raising your Ram voltage, or south bridge ICH voltage.
0x19 = memory voltage

http://www.overclock.net/t/1198504/...-guide-sandy-bridge-ivy-bridge-asrock-edition

Getting the right LLC is the most annoying part of OCing. Search google for your board and LLC.

Also since windows 10 doesn't like to show codes on the blue screen I use this.

I'm only on a 580 GPU so I'm miles behind. I get paralysed by choice so I've ordered the 480, it's coming now, if I had a good look at the 1060 I could have spent weeks making up my mind. So I'm happy enough now.

Gotcha. I'll figure something out, thanks.

In theory someone's going to have to release a mini-ITX version of the RX 480 at some stage, as the reference PCB is already short enough, but there haven't been any announcements yet. Perhaps when the RX 470 finally appears at retail we might see some short custom coolers on it, too. The GTX 1060 looks to have a pretty short PCB as well, so there's a possibility something will appear on that front, but it may end up out of your price range.

Basically, there's a good chance that there will be up to three different options for you within the next couple of months, so I would hold out for a little bit longer if you can.

I currently use a Lenovo Ideacentre AIO to do my video editing and uploading, using my Elgato connected to my PS4. I want to buy a desktop PC, though, so I can record directly from the PC, as well as record my PS4 gameplay. These are my current specs.

I'm looking for a desktop that has at least double the RAM, 2TB, and is capable of running Grand Theft Auto V. That is one game I must be able to run. I have a budget of £800-£1000.

Ok I think I finally am starting to understand (CPU) overclocking!

Increased the multiplier of my 6600K to 44 and set core voltage to 1.250
Ran Realbench two times, 15 min and 30 min. Both didn't have any errors and temps were 72 celcius max.

I also tried with 45 multiplier with the same voltage, but Realbench had an error after 2 minutes

Think I am going to at these clocks for a while and run stress tests for longer periods of time.

After that it is GPU overclocking time

So I had to change parts around because I want NCIXUS to build my computer and they didn't have all the parts I was looking at. I think I'm done though, so if everyone doesn't mind, could I get thoughts on the final build before I buy it? I might get rid of the fans, and I wasn't sure if the cooling system I chose is the best available on NCIX, or if the ASUS version of the GTX 1080, or the RAM is good either. I also wanted to get a wireless network card just in case there is ever a time I'm not close enough to do a wired connection, and I don't think that motherboard has wifi (but I could be wrong):

You definitely don't need a 1200 watt PSU, haha. Something like 700-750 will do just fine (even that is a little overkill) and it'd be like half the price

I'd also recommend an SSD for windows if you don't already have one. 5 second boot is a gigantic quality of life jump

Everything else look alright?

EDIT: Changed the power supply to something else, a 750W Corsair.
