ICO, SotC, God of War1/2 to have PS Vita remote play

What's wrong ?

What's the problem? Normally a restart is needed. With the Vita, you have to connect it or input the code somewhere. Not sure since I haven't done it in a while.

It just wouldn't connect. I followed all the directions and tried different options but the PS3/Vita would just not sync up together. It's been awhile since I tried it so I can't properly deliver all the info. Gonna give it another shot tomorrow then I'll probably be back here asking for help =p

Did you register your Vita with the PS3 ?

Before tapping on "Private Network" on the Vita, make sure your PS3 is in RemotePlay mode first. It won't work if Vita goes into RemotePlay mode first.

I do recall registering the Vita and PS3. Will try getting the PS3 into remote play first next time.

Holy shit, SotC and ICO are running damned near flawless for me. Like no bad latency between the two at all. Both games are very playable. Incredible stuff.

[Cursing at himself for leaving the SotC/Ico disc at work]

... ah well, at least I can still play PixelJunk Monster over RemotePlay tonight.

There are so many PSN titles I own that I would love for this. The gates have been opened for asynchronous gameplay. This is some true groundbreaking stuff.

Can someone make a new thread about Remote Play actually working now?

Same here. The stream quality is surprisingly high and the input is super responsive. I'm curious how this would perform using internet access from somewhere that isn't my apartment.

also this really needs to happen for more games. like all of them.

Did the games need to get patched so they could change those couple of variables that makes Remote Play == true? I remember seeing some CFW PS3 with remote play on PSP where they changed a couple of things and then it worked.

Lots of PSN games would benefit from Remote Play IMO. If someone is to make a thread they should list the games and the consensus on how well each of them play on a) same home network and b) completely different network (at work, another city/state/country, etc)

I'm guessing the games need to be patched to optimize for RemotePlay.

If it's simply setting the flag, a game will do the same or more work for Vita's small screen. Performance won't be as good as what we have now for GoW and Ico/SotC.

Just tried Ico and it works well. There is a very slight delay and the graphics are downgraded a bit but it plays great for the most part. This is my first time trying the remote play feature and it's pretty interesting...here's hoping they support more games :)

and here goes my hope to get a port of Tokyo Jungle for Vita ...

lol. That's quite true. Let's hope they announce more IPs for Vita in the near future. I wouldn't mind a good Tokyo Jungle game for Vita myself, but it may take some time.

In the mean time, a RemotePlay version for in-bed gaming may be ok.

This is awesome news. And reading that most of you guys are playing with almost no lag is even awesomer!!! ^_^

I wasn't even planning of using this outside my flat anyways, but I can now finally play SoTC while my wife is just watching tv and we won't have to fight over it!!!

Yay!!!

other than more games what this needs is the ability to continue your game on the vita rather than exit go into remote play and then restart the game.

that would be heaven

I actually found that it ran even smoother over the internet than it did on a local connection with my PS3. YMMV with connections though depending on where you go, obviously. But it was good.

Tokyo Jungle will support this in Japan

Sony is zoning for my heart.

ok i managed to run STOC.

Run >
Remote Play on PS3
Remote Play on Vita

connect through private network

Run STOC via VITA

when error occur (E-00000000) and it will kick out you to remote play on vita (network private/internet) close remote play on vita and run it again and again choose same preference via private network.

Then it will ask you to switch controls (type2) and then hit R2 game will go without problems from there.

BTW i am amazed by how responsive it is. I have played Lair on PSP and it wasn't nowhere near as responsive as this.

Looking at things also it is VITA only so code could be diffrent than PSP.

Played it last night and was amazed at how little lag I had, especially when you consider my crappy Comcast router.

I took down colossi #7 in a few minutes, got my trophy, and hit the hay. It was fun to play it all from my bed.

Pixel junk series play flawless on vita

Tried to play PJ Sidescroller, but isn't supported. Gundemonium collection works, and works quite well.

I was surprised however, with video playback, I had the same video on Vita and the PS3 (Toki Towa PV) and I find that barring some minor frameskip, the video runs really great.

But at a much lower resolution than these titles (Ico/SotC + GoW). It's rather noticeable the difference. Also retro/grade plays nice too, but again at a lower resolution.

I doubt the resolution of PSP-RP compatible games will get bumped up unless that's something that can be addressed via firmware.

Good to see everyone enjoying this.

Someone needs to test it from a different wifi network though. e.g. connect to (work?) wifi and play PS3 via remote play.

I did. It's rubbish. This feature to play games is meant to be used at home and without much walls between the Vita and the PS3. No bathroom gaming for me... Too many walls. :(

is the remoteplay upgrade (over psp remoteplay) is universal or just for the games they've announced? I mean, if I tried game other than the Ico collection or GoW collection, will the response time still be better than the psp remoteplay?

It seems that the Vita is a bit better at processing the remote play's compressed stream than the PSP was (no surprise there), and a few titles even output higher resolution to the Vita now since being patched.

That sounds like more of a problem with your signal strength from your router to your Vita (or your PS3 to the router). Fast networks with strong signals should have no problem.

Yes. My wifi signal strength is very weak on the other end of the house. The PS3 is connected through ethernet.

Played ICO a bit this morning and it was lag-less. As with any remote play software, the stream quality could/should be improved. I did notice a bit of artifacts on the OLED screen but nothing to hamper gameplay.

Does anyone else have this opinion? Is there anyway to improve the video quality?

Now we need to get Killzone 2/3 and Uncharted 1/2/3 and other first part titles including GoW!

If you touch the Vita's screen you get some basic Remote Play options, one of which is video quality. You can turn it up or down one notch (-1, +1) to spare your stream or improve the video a little bit.

Ya did that. I've set to +1 but I guess I'm looking for better.

btw .. sorry, I haven't tested Future Cop yet. I get like 10 minutes at home for myself these days ...

So remote play impressions are positive. Damn Sony need to make it simple to use like Airplay for iOS devices, we should be able switch between Vita and PS3 mid game also. And I want to see more games support remote play, would love to play a game like Skyrim on the Vita.
