FFIV wasn't great shakes either in the story department. Besides, gameplay is most important by far, and FFV is amongst the most balanced yet challenging and replayable. Even if 8 had a more interesting story, I could just youtube it and hardly miss a beat.

I have a comparably tougher time deciding on favorite FF OSTs (as there are several outstanding releases) but if I'm making a shortlist of the few unmemorable ones Final Fantasy V isn't on it.

Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy III. Maybe Final Fantasy X-2 and XIII. But even those two have a few standouts. "Blinded by Light" is phenomenal.

X-2 is indeed one of the worst but it has one tune that almost makes up for it

If you're purely talking about OSTs then VI, VII, VIII and X are the standouts for me, XI as well if you want to count that

I don't think FFVII will place so high. This IGN we're talking about. Their current staff recently placed it mid-table in their Final Fantasy ranking list and at least two of their editors previously rubbished it.

For what's it's worth I love the game, as I do every entry from IV through to XII but I don't think VII will even crack the top twenty. I expect VI and CT to predicatbly take the top two spots as they did last time but with at least two more (if not all five) of IV, V, IX, XII and Tactics to also rank higher than VII this time.

Oh I wouldn't even know. I don't follow their rubbish lists and I didn't click on the link this time either. Fuck top ### lists.

List time, always fun. Curious choices. I enjoyed Odin Sphere, it was a reasonably fun B tier romp but I wouldn't put it in contention of a top 100 list and its 69 here? Looking at some of the other titles it outranks well, I disagree.

I can agree with that at least. Vesperia and Symphonia are close for me, but having played both recently I definitely feel like Symphonia hasn't aged as well as I'd have liked it to.

Tales is horribly dated. No way it should be at #41.

Interesting putting FF7 so low. I think IX, XII and VI still have a chance to make it. XII has a pretty big chance at being high just to be controversial lol (Not that it doesn't deserve it).

A slew of new RPGS came out this year so it will be interesting too see where they place, if at all. It's hard to place things when they're shiny and new among classics.

I wouldn't be mad if the Witcher 3 is in the top 3 because it's honestly one of the best games I've ever played.

No Tales game should ever be above any Persona game in any list that isn't "most mediocre JRPG"

Persona 3 shouldn't even be above Persona 5. I understand the disagreements P3 and P4 fans may have because those two games are appealing to different people for different reasons, but P5 is objectively a better game in every way than P3, mostly due to the fact that they are more directly comparable.
Now I'm almost certain The Witcher 3 will be #1 though.
