I'm going on a date later and bricking it. Can I get some encouragement?

I'm always a little nervous before a first date. I usually make sure to confess to it a few hours into the date. By that time they're comfortable and find it cute and normally say they feel the same.

It's time to learn the skill of the Groundhog Day date. Same date location multiple times and the only difference is the lady you are taking on the date. You've got to act like it's the first time you've taken someone on this date and you're also experiencing it for the first time.

Eventually you'll iron out all the kinks, see what gets a good reaction or not and then you can coast not worrying about what to do or where to go so that you are relaxed and can focus on the chat but also look like you are totally organized and in control.

I find jamming a piece of chewed chewing gum between my upper lip and the gums above my front teeth greatly improves my diction.

Can you be more specific? Inquiring minds want to know

Sure no probz.

We went out for a picnic and then had a long walk back. When we got back to the house, I could tell something was off and asked her if something was up. She said she had a really nice time but didn't know how she felt and was sorta into somebody else so I said, that's okay.

I guess a more manly man may have tried something but I thought against it tbh. It felt, and still does feel, like I might be letting myself in for some hurt going down that road. I had a similar situation a few years ago with another girl - I won that time but it was so much hard work!

I did get called attractive though and she said I had a great body - which was a win in my books.

Anyway, I enjoyed the date, which was good. Made her laugh and smile. I also now have a picnic blanket I can use :messenger_grinning_sweat:

look at it this way, to 100% of incels and 50% of single men under the age of 40, you are a God because you met a wiminz IRL. 🤷‍♂️

True. They can call me Poseidon.

That happened to me so many times. All you can do is keep meeting new ones. It sounds like you have a healthy attitude.

Honestly, I think the best advice on a first date is just have fun. People who treat dates like a job interview end up stacking the deck against themselves. And trying to force an outcome does you no good; if you dig each other, that's great, but if you don't then it's really no loss anyway. All the people trying to play four-dimensional chess or playing games on a first date are just messing themselves up. Most women can sniff out that kind of desperation anyway.

So just treat it like a fun night out with a friend. Be confident, relaxed. First dates should be easy, you've got all your best stories and jokes ready to go and everything is new. If you can't make a first date work, she isn't the one.

If you are a guy and bricking it, its likely gonna go bad no matter what you do. Nothing will dry out a women's vagina faster than a guy who's lacking in confidence. And confidence really cant be faked, that will only come from working on bettering yourself.

That's debatable. Men who keep trying (the same girl) despite being turned down are usually desperate, not manly. Create new opportunities with new girls who might be more compatible instead of clinging on to a lost cause.

It felt, and still does feel, like I might be letting myself in for some hurt going down that road.
You're setting yourself up for failure with that attitude. Go in with an open mind and heart and create new memories with optimism. If you overly protect yourself because you expect "hurt", it often times becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

What do you consider "winning"?

I think you can fake confidence to a certain extent by forgetting your insecurities or putting them out of you your mind, or playing up the things you are more confident about.

Like I don't know that I'm super confident in my looks or appeal, but I am a confident dater in that I know if a woman shows up to a date with me she's going to want to see me again. I am a fun date, I have that down, so I can be confident about it.

Let her talk about herself the whole night. God knows she will.
Tell her very little about yourself.
Listen, ask, don't tell.
She will then think you are mysterious and will want to see you again and try and find out what makes you tick.
Oh yeah, she will rabbit on again about how her day was, but just nod and try and guess if she goes a2m.

Fair comments.

Maybe I didn't express myself well - I'm more nonchalant about the whole thing. I'll talk to her again sure and if she seems interested then we'll see what happens. I'm not trying to chase her though. I'd rather just be chill as I'm a busy dude with a day job; it's not like in college when I had nothing better to do than pine after girls (awful lol).

Winning is simply winning their affection. A stolen kiss. A bit of sexy time. Hands held in pouring rain. Etc. Etc.

Agreed and in fairness, I was really nervous before but not at all during it. I honestly think opening up this thread helped massively. Just needed to outpour my anxiety onto all of you :messenger_beaming:

Honestly, this is always bottom line. I always made having a good time the first priority, and when I did that, usually they did too.

It sounds like she was attracted to you, at least; that's the biggest thing you can't help. The rest is learned.

DO NOT listen to any of these Leisure Suit Larrys out there telling you pick up artist mind games. Be fun, give no fucks. You get good at that and you're golden. I don't think I'm much of a catch but I'm a goddamn pro at being a fun date, and it works.
