PC version with the latest patch has a ton of bugs and issues with the graphics settings. DLSS frame generation is completely busted and somehow makes the frame rate worse with unplayable latency. Some of the partial RT options have fucked up lighting that is too bright.

I'm finding a setting combination of no PT, no FG and either TAA or DLSS quality are working great for me.

Runs beautifully for me 🤷

There's no way to turn off RT, path tracing, which was only added a few hours ago, can optionally be turned on.

Didn't say anything about your end, just that you might be experiencing a bug, which sounds to be the case and will probably be fixed sooner rather than later.

It runs a lot better with path tracing disabled but it's still poorly optimized.

I think I found my settings.

When picking the overall settings to high, I can have full RT with DLSS balanced. Looks really good. Enabling some higher tier graphics that are VRAM heavy will kneecap the GPU. 3080 Ti. Really playable in this state even without frame gen.

?? How many games you count with ray tracing that runs so butter smooth? Certainly not UE.

Turn off 'Low Latency' in the gpu control panel if its turned on. Frame gen is supposed to be way better according to some Steam users.

They most likely haven't restarted the game for it to actually take effect.

It's 100% broken currently.

In Vatican I get ~45-60 fps. I just did the photo quest for Antonio and it was amazing looking throughout. With Gsync I'll take the sub 60 fps for those visuals. Pretty sure I was VRAM starved even with 12GB because I had to disable some path tracing effects, either reflections or the indirect lighting in the first levels to even get 30 fps.

I went to try some of your settings, but one thing I'm noticing is the DLSS settings are not being applied correctly all the time. It took me changing to balanced twice before it actually made a difference. This goes along with other reports that setting FG is broken.

Either way, my frame went into single digits with DLSS balanced and full RT. Definitely some more optimization work to do in certain settings, I think.

Have you guys tried just using pathtracing for lighting and shadows while turning off reflections? Or just using pathtracing for shadows alone. Is it still a massive hit? I might just use it for lighting and turn off reflections and shadows.

It's hard to say, but turning it off and on was like 30-40fps difference indoors.

Game jumps all over. Beginning was at like 70ish at 3440x1440/DLSS Quality with everything (minus frame gen) maxed out. Indoor areas are anywhere from 110-140fps with the same settings.

How is the combat? 1st person games typically have abysmal combat. this is good?

And, how puzzle heavy is this?

I know PC peeps with sufficient rigs are getting a technically superior version, but reading the different experiences some folks are having with their rigs and setting management, and how well optimized the console version is out of the box, I'm very glad with the experience I'm having with the game so far.

High resolution and good IQ, extremely solid performance, like shockingly so. Not many console games released these days maintain perfect performance.

Really looking forward to ID and IDTech humbling other developers with Doom next year.

Didn't really touch any settings, it defaulted to high settings, I changed the aspect to cinematic and then I just started playing; looks and plays great at a rock solid 60fps, I could prolly fiddle with settings, but why bother when it seems to be running exactly like it should.

Ive seen some people thinking its better as a film than a game, but in that case its the best Indy film since the original trilogy. Maybe they are expecting it to be like Uncharted where you spend a lot of time with guns and shooting people? Because so far - and Im still in the Vatican section - it feels more like the realisation of a point-and-click adventure in a first person view.

Fate of Atlantis

On top of that, it does have melee and guns, but they feel more like an option than the main focus of the game, which seems to be adventuring and exploration. Its more like the Broken Sword games than Uncharted, in that sense.

I would advise every one plays on at least hard. I tweaked my settings for the ai and it made the game better.

Also, it's weird. I'm not even playing for fighting dudes. I'm straight adventuring. I didnt use a gun until the end of the vatican when I was forced to.

As soon as I got to Gizeh I started shooting nazis lol

Feels good.

Just reading the issues on pc. I'm not having them at all. I have a 14900ks. 32gb 7200 ram. Multiple nvmes and a 4090.

Im running 1440p ultra settings full path tracing. Im in gizeh now and I'm getting 80 -120 fps no frame gen. Around high 80s when in busy areas. 120 when walking around quieter areas and tombs.

If i turn on frame gen it's over 100 lower bounds and around 140 odd in less demanding areas.

Im not sure what could be causing people's issues. I just set everything to ultra bumped the anistropic filtering up and turned full rt on.

I'm enjoying this one a lot. I'm a big Indy fan so had to get this. It's a very well made game that clearly understands the source material.

My only complaint so far is Indy himself is a bit distracting. He almost looks like Harrison Ford but not quite and almost sounds like him but not quite. Also Ford brought so much character to the role in terms of his physical acting and in comparison this Indy is a bit of a block of wood. But I'm getting used to it.

Crazy to think a game studio can treat the source material with such respect and absolutely nail the story and vibe, yet Hollywood can't do shit with such a good franchise and character.

Ah cool, its already playable - thought it might have been one of those 18:00 in the UK sorts.

Oh shit that's disappointing... I was waiting for a decent patch but it seems it made it worse(?).

Tried Path Tracing. Imo, not worth it. Current solution is good enough and maybe even better in some cases and PT gains are hardly worth the performance hit of 100fps+ (QHD on 4080).

Find PT yourself, but for me the art was built around RTGI with baked GI here and there.

Also my god AI is dumb as a rock, but the exploring and the puzzles are still top-notch

100%! It's a Lucas Arts adventure game with huge amount of puzzles. Outside of that framework though the combat is ass, platforming is wonky, stealth is lauaghable and AI is inane.

That being said, you can easily avoid all of that and just chill and bask yoursel in the atmosphere of slow and clever puzzle-adventure on a open locations. That's why even the rabid fanboys will find it hard to compare Indy with Uncharted. They are vastly different games and I hope Indy will find it's audience on PS5.

I asked already but nobody responded, what are the rewards for exploration?

Do you find new loot, weapons, unlock new abilities, is there any character progression? Ot it's just collectibles and stuff to read?

Because i read comparisons with dishonored but a lot of what you find in that game actively make you strong or let you buy upgrades for your weapons, is there anything like this in indy?

It's actully realized in a good way IMO. You get points (star coins) for every treasure, quest or photo. Points can be spent on upgrades in your inventory if you find (or buy) upgrade book/manual. Each book will require to spend points. Through that game gives you a good incentive to explore and complete sidequests.

A bit hard on the combat - punching people in this game is fun, as is beating them with whatever you can find until it breaks. Not a lot of bullets around but the gunplay has a nice weight to it. Combat's a lot more suited to this kind of game than the combat in Uncharted 4, for example.

Platforming is fine. It could do with speeding up a bit, but I get that they're going for a realistic approach. The AI can be a bit wonky though definitely.

Interesting to compare this to Uncharted 4. It probably wins in quite a few categories.

I am getting this today on steam I think. Play with mouse or controller ?

Interesting. I can’t tell which one is pt here.
So the other picture with hand was cherry picked and everyone was praising pt too soon ?

What do you mean with upgrading in your inventory? Just upgrading how many things you can bring with you? It doesn't sound exciting or interesting at all.

Maybe i didn't understand you...

In dishonored you find stuff that actively improve your powers or give you perks.

What do you improve here? How does indy feels stronger after 10 hours compared to the beginning of the game?

My English is a bit wonky, sorry.

You scout for books and manuals to upgrade punches, stamina, health, some other perks (think Wolfenstein perks). To obtain perk you need X amount of Exploring Tokens. It's that easy. Game rewards you with XP that you can spend to upgrade your Indy.

Thoughts after first few hours - Game looks very good on the XSX. Sneaking is really weird im not sure how i feel about it yet. The gunplay (very few moments so far) is meh. Story is intrguing.

I just get this weird feeling that if Machine Games had a better animation team they would have made this 3rd person and it would have been a MUCH better game for it.

Im actually looking forward to getting back into it after work tomorrow.

You basically lvl up and learn new moves by progressing. The combat is pretty cool

Bruh stop crying about third person nobody wants that.

Its from the team that made Riddick and The Darkness, i dont need third person mode.

Also gunplay? When did you shoot your gun cause im like 4/5 hours in and haven't shot my gun 😂

I played virtually the entire Rome level without using my gun. Didn't seem right to use it as the bad guys weren't armed. But there came a point where someone finally pulled a gun out and fired at me and I whipped it out for the first time and got a nice headshot. Felt super realistic lol.
