In case anyone was curious, I can confirm that Xanadu Next is playable on the GPD Win.
I noticed yesterday that the "A" key on my keyboard only works if I push it pretty hard. Also, on my second unit, the R2 button's microswitch seems to be slightly misaligned.
Phawx or anyone else who has opened this thing up, should it be pretty easy to open it and re-seat the keyboard/check out the shoulder button and fix it? I've opened other handhelds before with no issues but just wanna make sure I don't screw something up.
Where can I find a guide to improve the performance of the GPD?
Also something for the dolphin?
After playing around with my GPD Win for a few hours I've come to the conclusion that either my device is hotter than normal or I just have a very low tolerance to heat in my handhelds. For example I just tried out Shadowrun Hong Kong and the temps go up to ~75 °C and I'm not using any performance tweaks. The 65-70 range is when it starts to get too warm for my personal comfort. Granted, it's nowhere near hot enough to inflict injury but I find it really uncomfortable to hold the device for extended periods.
They emailed me back with some generic bullshit, but FedEx just updated my tracking.yeah, same boat. I'll hold off on emailing and worrying until next week.
Edit-
On second thought, given that our order numbers are similar, I feel like something MAY have happened. Im going to email them.

Finally stateside. Expected delivery is next Wednesday.
Ok. Whatever I start a steam game , dolphin or 3D mark , screen goes black after few seconds yet sounds continues.
I've done phawx bios setup and did a reset as well
Is my unit defective ? It's not even getting very hot (70). Going insane.
any advice please?![]()

Fresh install yesDoesn't sound like my unit at all. Did you do a fresh install?
Fresh install yes
I didn't plan to use much 3D games but warranty will sux for this Hinde device. FuckCan't say for sure, but may be a bad unit...
Anyone got God eater they can run a test on? Would be much appreciated
From what I saw the psp emulated version was fine
but haven't seen the steam versions yet
Tried a few more games..
Fallout: New Vegas: Didn't seem to need any mods. Just installed via Steam and set everything to low. Strangely, the settings auto detected and put everything to max. Very playable as i I loaded my cloud save from a year ago. Surrounded by 4 powder gangers and was fine. Had a little stuttering when I first entered vats but was fine after that.
PES 2017: Best soccer game on handheld bar none.. wonder why Konami or EA Sports decided to skip releasing soccer games on handhelds. Around 30-45fps.
Arkham Knight: Played as catwoman and managed to fight 6 guys at once.. didn't try much but definitely playable.
KNIGHT!?!? Maybe Asylum...
Wow, this thing reminds me of a Pandora. Anyone remember that one?
More explanation ?Someone else mentioned Sonic All Stars Racing transformed crashed on them and yet I don't remember fixing anything to get it working.
Have you made you you have all runtimes and dependencies installed? VC++ runtime V47 installer will do all of them. Maybe try to install some older DX runtime installers.
How's the build quality on this, guys? For those of you that actually have it in your hands and have used it for a while? Does it feel premium? Quality? Anything feel loose or sound creaky?

Shoulder buttons feel kinda loose, but that seems to be by design and they work very well. I've never been particularly happy about hand held controls but these are... pretty good I think so far. Screen is great. As for the premiumness of it all, that's a bit subjective, but I'd probably rate it somewhere between a Nintendo handheld and a Sony one (the good Sony handhelds, not PSP StreetHow's the build quality on this, guys? I tried Fallout New Vegas but really wanted to use some mods. The game kept crashing on startup. I had this problems a few years ago on a different PC as well. I don't know what it is about New Vegas...I can get Fallout 3, 4, and Skyrim modded no problem, but New Vegas never seems to work for me.
I did a clean install because my registry was foobared. Couldn't set default browser and email unless I did it a certain way. Running smoothly now
Only thing I noticed is when I did a fresh install I only got one sensor in devices to turn off I couldn't figure out how to install the other one but in device manager I had no bad drivers or items that needed drivers so no idea. Everything latest drivers and firmware. Ordered from geekbuying from their cn distributor.
I tested a bunch of games.
Castle crashers runs great
Torch light 2 runs great with settings turned down.
Diablo 3 runs decent with settings turned down. ( had to manually change res in the cfg because of black screen.
Doomsday engine runs great at 24 to 30 fps Maybe i can do better
Quake 1 runs great and other engines that enhance quake 1 like darkplaces and such.
Duck tales Remastered works great
Dungeons and dragons shadow over mysteria works great.
Double Dragon neon works great
Warframe with all settings turned down works ( Its playable if by yourself and can use keyboard/mouse Maybe I can do better)
Most games had the correct resolution automatically but some I ha to manually edit cfg or change in game
Now the big one for me
Current Mame with current romset works great. I tested Metal slug 1-5, Punisher, Magic sword, Simpsons Arcade, Tmnt 1 / back in time, AvP, Both dungeons and Dragons by capcom, Battle Circuit ( probably more but cant remember)
I would like to get hyperspin setup but not how to do it.
I well test Duke Nukem Anniversary Edition when I get the cash to buy it.
I did all th performance boosting phawx had in his video
I have had one driver crash since I have had the gpd win and thats why I first had it turned on for about 30m and maybe rotated it a couple times and didnt have the sensors off.
May I ask how you got the joystick and buttons to work with mame? The joystick option is grayed out for me. For some reason the dpad works and I'm using it along with the keyboard but it's less than ideal.
I switch my switch to the most right setting and have it switched to before mame loads
Well, Aliexpress just canceled my order for security reasons. Going to order somewhere else.
If it can be usefull I'm quite happy with the service of GeekBuyin. The GPD XD arrived in around 10 days![]()
Build quality generally very nice and comparable to the new 3DS. Only a few weird points of note:
- The triggers have a different kind of feel, they click exactly like mouse buttons. However this is a rather appropriate design decision imo.
- The D-pad and face buttons are very mushy and have no click to them at all. My main disappointment with the device. The keyboard, however, is satisfyingly clicky, oddly.
Thanks for the feedback guys. At this rate I feel like I'm leaning towards a Surface Pro 3/4, especially with the heat comments about this portable.Yeah, I believe Steam did install VC++ runtime and some other stuff. Maybe I'll reinstall it and check what exactly does it install and whether someting may be missing
