Oh my god I'm so glad now that I turned down the tickets to see the new tour. I love NIN live but if this is the bullshit to expect...haha...no thanks, I'm OK.

Play Everything for the youngins and see if they like it :lol

Cool to see you posting here, didn't know you liked NIN at all :] I'll be updating the OP when tracks get posted onto YouTube, so keep an eye on there to see if you like the rest of the album!
I don't listen to a ton of music these days, I tend to have a handful of groups or artists I follow closely. I was really into NIN when I was in high school and shortly thereafter, but drifted into other music after. Lately I've been circling back and finding I appreciate things on a different level now as an adult (Tool is a recent example, probably my favorite group). I'll pick up this latest and then maybe work back through the catalog I missed.

You've been missing out on some good music. Every album Trent has put out has had something great on it. "The Fragile" was my personal favorite.
Thanks for the suggestion.

So I just listened to "Everything". It doesn't sound like a new Nine Inch Nails song. It sounds like a new Option 30 song. My interest in this album is fading. God damn it.

Or maybe, and here's a shock, he just wanted to try something a bit different? He's obviously, at least to some degree, found some happiness and contentment in his life, and it's being reflected in his music.

Relax dude, it's extremely possible that it is both. He's using typeface and art in the style of TDS, so perhaps we're seeing the narrative continue. Everything is a drastic change in sound and I can easily see how Trent could work such an overtly cheerful song into the swing of things. I don't think I'm jumping too far out of the realm of possibility here.

Niiiiice jerb :)

-The Japanese standard edition will include an exclusive bonus track remix as track 15 "Everything" (Autolux Remix), as well as a slightly different arrangement of the standard edition cover art

Thanks for this, I'll add it to the OP in a bit when I'm not as inebriated ;)

9 fucking days and it hasn't leaked? I wanna die.jpg

I went to the Japan & South Korean shows in July this year. Fucking incredible shows! Lights were amazing.

If anybody is interested you can also here the tracks Disappointed and Find My Way if you watch the live shows on youtube.

Here is a snap from the Korean show.

Everything is the only song on the album so far that does something for me and the only thing that could be called a "different direction" for NIN, which is what I expected from the new material.

You're missing out. I saw them at Lollapalooza with Sai-kun this month and the show was great. Trent and co sound better than ever, the new songs sound awesome, and the live show itself was more interesting than Lights in the Sky technically.

I listened to the 5.1 surround version of The Downward Spiral for the first time the other day.

Seriously, you guys need to get hold of it. It sucks you into that album like the 2.0 one never did.

i've only heard the 5.1 version once and it blew my mind

wish i had a 5.1 set up of my own

All of the released tracks are intriguing, which is something I probably wouldn't say of NIN these days.

I am excited.

I only have 2.1, and have done for three years now. Had to take my 5.1 copy over to the parents house whilst they were out.

Had it loud enough to shake the room. March of the Pigs was like....well.

fuck me it was good

I think the mix is kinda bad on some of it. Some effects are way too loud. The end of Hurt is not loud enough.

Aww i thought this leaked thanks to this thread.

Got the deluxe preordered. Im sad trent isnt coming back to chicago with this tour, i wasnt able to see em at lolla

Excellent OT. Cant wait for this record. I am headed to the 10.05 Cleveland and 10.22 Nashville shows.

Hopin for a leak soon

My body is ready.

Really? I think it's one of his most bland songs to date. You should check out The Fragile and the Downward Spiral.

Don't listen to this man. If you like Came Back Haunted but have never been a NIN fan, you should check out Pretty Hate Machine. That album is much closer to Came Back Haunted in style than the albums Azula mentions.
Also, it's easily NIN's best album, closely followed by The Downward Spiral.

Looking forward to this. New songs are decent to good by NIN standards, but I'm more excited to just obsess over NIN setlists again.

I put a bit of time into making a playlist of what I consider to be the 25 best NIN songs (well, 26 because I grouped The Frail / The Wretched)...tough for anything post-Fragile to make this list! It's not in any order, although I do think closer is definitely the best NIN song.

Closer
Piggy
Terrible Lie
Reptile
The Becoming
The Frail / The Wretched
Just like you imagined
Happiness in Slavery
Sin
La Mer
The Great Below
Me, I'm Not
The Mark Has Been Made
March of the Pigs
Wish
The Big Come Down
Hurt
Head Like a Hole
I'm Looking Forward to Joining you, finally
Mr. Self Destruct
The Line Begins to Blur
Heresy
The Fragile
The Great Destroyer
Even Deeper

Just saw them at a festival in Paris. I'm really into NiN normally, but as all of my friends were at this show, I followed them and yeah, it's quite good live. Massive sound and also really cool visuals. We only got Find My Way from the new album but the reaction seemed kinda lukewarm.

I should probably try to get into their music. As a huge Queens of the Stone Age fan, it might be easy.

I've always loved you because of the Mike Patton avatar, but you've definitely stolen my heart with this post.

In case anybody didn't know there is also a 5.1 version of With Teeth and a 5.1 version of The Social Network OST. The Fragile in 5.1 has been completed according to Trent but hasn't been released yet. There is a decent fan made 5.1 version of The Fragile that is worth a listen to though.

5.1 TDS is something else. Even if you listen to the 5.1 version on a stereo setup, whatever Trent did to the tracks makes it sound different to the CD version. The outro of Closer is just ridiculous in 5.1.

Hope to get this signed one day :D.

I wish there was a 5.1 mix for this album....I also wish there was a sweet $250 deluxe edition I could drop some money on. If anyone can get me to spend that much on a deluxe edition, it's Trent Reznor.

I guess I'll be happy with the vinyl for now.
