inFAMOUS 2 |OT| Think Twice

I don't know which one you mean, but I saw your user profile on the site, looked at your published missions and just added them to my queue. Is it the Fallout one?
You can still add those? Those are from the beta? and since then it won't show the levels I've made in the regular game and I can't find the level from the website in the game. I think they need to update the website but I'mnot sure.

So I assume that if I purchase the game I won't have any of the awesome powers in the demo at the start of the game?

i hear your more of a hero this time round even at the beginning with some decent powers, these get juiced up as you progress.
the original gave you really simple stuff at the start, and the game was almost over as you got the good stuff

Yeah, one of the reasons I really didn't like the first game. I'm glad to hear you start off stronger this time. The more I play the demo the more I dig Infamous 2.

I don't like how I get new powers way too fast, and some of them are not even better than the other ones.
Does it force you to use the new powers? I don't have the game, I'm getting it on Tuesday, but I heard that you received more powers than inFamous 1 and had the opportunity to use them as often as you'd like.

It doesn't force you to use any of the power. The powers on either side are enough to have fun on your play through. once you beat both endings, it unlocks all powers and you can match whatever you want.

As sequels fare, Infamous 2 marks a maturation from "good game" to "genre standout." The first game was a sound exercise in open-world play, superpowers, and binary choices; this sequel nips, tucks, and buffs up those features to create single-player content with plenty of intriguing hooks, pulpy comic book narrative, and latent political commentary within its thunderbolts and lightning grenades.

Infamous 2 embodies significant growth in Cole's superhero journey. The first title established him and set our expectations for Sucker Punch's universe, but the sequel expands it into a highly entertaining, thrilling, and responsive action game bursting with stout combat. It's not always even -- the combat camera is still off-kilter, and the Manichean morality system feels a little long in the tooth (but then, arguably, it does across several genres) -- yet the numerous improvements define it as one of the most entertaining titles you'll play in 2011.

I really dislike this mechanic of closing off an entire power tree and forcing players to go through the game twice just to have a go at all the powers. I mean, I don't even have time to clear my massive backlog, why would I want to play through the same game twice? And being able to mix and match powers only in the third playthrough is just adding insult to injury.

I can understand that it's obviously impossible to show both the good and evil stories in a single playthrough but there's really no excuse for a skill tree to be completely closes off like that.

I think it's a case of 'too bad'. I think the fairly binary choices the game gives you are the perfect excuse to close a power tree, you have to decide what you what and what you don't
Lots of people want to play the game twice, your personal backlog is hardly an excuse to cut out half the game for everyone else.

almost done now. i spoke too soon on a couple things earlier. i like the enemy tier structure on this game as well as the first. and the graphics are better overall but it still looks like crap in some areas.

i like the way the story is being told now a lot better, with the cut scenes and all that, but i cant say i can get into any of the characters. i like cole, and bertrand is a cool villain with an awesome accent, but thats it really. kuo is blah and nix is all over the place.

It's only really closed off if you use the Ray Sphere at the end of the first game. Otherwise, you can alter your karma to unlock the other powers pretty easily and switch like that. But it seems like this game is being better about it.

First of all, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. 'too bad'? WTF?

Also, "lots" of people want to play the game twice? Are you fucking kidding me? You truly believe there is even anywhere close to a majority of the people who are buying the game (myself included) who would "want" to run through it TWICE? Especially given the repetitive nature of the game's missions and gameplay? Are you delusional?

My copy is shipping soon on amazon. E3, WWDC, and Infamous 2. Awesome week.

Are there any alternate costumes in the game. I would like to see an unlockable old new cole.

Hating on replay value? What?

If you really think the game is that repetitive, the other powers aren't going to do it for you. There's some cool stuff on the other side but nothing that's going to make the game do a complete 180.

I'm sorry, replay value is the single most overrated attribute of a game ever. And this is coming from someone who buys all of his games new and doesn't sell most of them. I'd rather have a solid experience the first time through than have to achieve the same thing with multiple playthroughs.

Based on my experience with I1 as well as comments here, it does appear that I2 would be fairly repetitive which is something that can be quite easily alleviated significantly by opening up the other powers.

For example, if I get tired of chucking a single guided rocket, I can re-roll (or something) my character and go for the multi-rockets (that's the evil version, right?). That's instant variety in gameplay, right there. This isn't hard to do or to comprehend at all.

EDIT: BTW, I'm not hating on replay value. I just think that it is extremely stupid to even suggest that there are plenty of people who would want to play a game twice just for the sake of it.

Additionally, purposefully closing off a skill tree like that is not exactly the best way to add replay value to a game.

You know you can get around 3 or 4 different powers of each type (Bolt, rocket, grenade, etc) on a single playthrough, right? You're not exactly hurting for variety in powers.

Can anybody who's completed the game gimme a little insight on XP?

Is it possible to get fully maxed powers by the end of the game by completing everything 100%? The original inFamous had the issue of not giving you enough XP by the end game, and finding baddies to kill once all areas of the map have been white-listed was nigh impossible.

In other words, should I be leaving areas of the map to be hostile so I can XP grind if needed?

UGC missions should solve that problem.

I think you should. User created levels don't give you nearly enough xp. Seems like you only earn points for playing/completing them, not for what you earn in them. So like ~90 xp per level. I need about 8k to finish off current game and it would take forever.

but unless I'm going crazy, hard seems to give you 3 xp for killing basic enemies while normal gives you 5 xp.

Can anyone speak to how the trophy import works? What if I platinum the game and have all the good and evil trophies?

Apparently it looks at game save, not trophy information.

If you got all trophies (and I guess if it works in the first place, given how here-or-there it was for others) then it has 3 options to either start a new game or start with a good or evil karma boost.

You won't have enough XP by the end of the game. In fact, beating it on both sides gives you an extra 15k EXP and that won't be enough unless you do the side missions (probably). I didn't do side missions on my 2nd play through so I'm not sure if you'd have enough after gaining all territory

Blech. I've got three levels published and none of them are showing up on the website or under my name. I was really hoping they had nailed that stuff down by now.

Hmmm, game still hasn't shipped for me from Amazon, despite ordering with Release Date Delivery. This is the first time Amazon will fail me on that. =/

Well, I just beat the game, Good run. I don't know if I'm going to do an evil playthrough.

Without spoiling (in other words, a simple yes or no answer without details)...could someone tell me if the ending is different with a pure Evil Cole?

This game was absolutely fantastic.

Ugh, after powering through the first game twice in the last week to obtain my very first platinum, I am burned out on inFamous right now. I'll still pick up my Hero Edition today, but I'm gonna have to wait a bit before playing it.

Have you played anything really worthwhile in the UGC?

I'm sure it'll take a while. LBP/2 took a while as well, as people got used to the tools and invested time in making great levels.

This might be one that I just play the creations and sit creating out (like Halo Forge).

Yeah ever since I dabbled a bit with forge I've been wanting to play a game like this where I could just queue up a ton of downloads and just play some ludicrous stuff.

So about the importing save from last game thing. Does it have to be a completed game save? And does it only import trophies and morality or will decisions made be imported also?

Played and enjoyed the first game on the good side. Never did a second playthrough, though.

Some of the missions were a bit of a drag, like navigate your way through the city in a timed mission (HATE THOSE, not unlike hating escort missions), but still had a great time exploring the city SuckerPunch! set up for the game.

If this is more of the same, then there isn't much for SuckerPunch! to mess up, and I anticipate another fun open-world romp. I am curious to see the New Orleans flavor they bring to this current environment and I am hoping to see more npc interaction due to events you cause. I love it when game spaces evolve as you level up/complete missions/progress through the story.

I'd love for someone to answer this as well. I'm only halfway through the first game. Do I need to finish it off to import a save?

Just got the game. Living in Asia means getting shafted all the damn time on PSN but there are some perks occasionally. Like this time, my preorder voucher for the regular edition gave me access to all eight preorder bonuses. Not too shabby!

Initial impressions: looks great but the sound mix is TERRIBLE.
