Gamestop just told me the strat guides aren't going to be available until Sep 20th. I called 3 Best Buy's and it wasn't even in their systems.

I'll wait for the strat guide. I always get a strat guide with my jrpgs because I hate the fact that I miss something important because I didn't have one at first. Like Lost Odyssey. :<

Yeah, got the same thing when I picked up my copy of IU earlier today. The clerk asked me if I wanted to pre-order the guide :lol

I opened my mouth to say "Sure!" and then thought "WTF?"

Well I usually pay for the guide at the same time as I pre-order the game so I'm going to get my money back for the guide.

Error, thumbs up or down? I need to know if paying 40 pounds (80 bucks) is going to be worth it.

The game's only £30 across all retailers in the UK.

I was massively hyped for this game until the reviews started trickling in. Still most probably going to get it but I'll be refreshing this page for more impressions.

Stupid US economy...*shakes fist*

I have a code for any US player. PM me and you shall recieve. I only ask that you post here to confirm I am not a bullshitter. Thanks.

-Edit , GONE!

Some parts of this game are amazing, but others make me question of Tri-ace meant for this to be an enjoyable game. Main thing I feel playing this game is that tri-ace should make a PSO type game using this combat style.

I'm getting this on Friday, it looks pretty good and I have a lot of patience. I just have one question I'm hoping someone can give me an answer to. I'm reading from some impressions the music in IU is quite good. My favorite game composer is Mr. Uematsu and I know when Mr. Sakuraba really tries he can crank out some compositions on par with Mr. Uematsu's. My question is, since Mr. Sakuraba composed the score for IU, is there any music in the game similar to "Theme of Love"? That is one of my FAVORITE pieces of music period, inside and outside of gaming. I love when composers take the time to craft music like that, and we don't see many pieces as good as that one anymore maybe once every couple years we get somewhere near close so I am hoping there may be a piece or two in this game similar to that song. Regardless of whether or not it does or doesn't have any music like that I'm still getting IU. It looks pretty well done and I'm willing to give it a shot :)

Almost 5 hours in now. Like it a lot so far. For some reason it gives me a throwback to when I first played SoM. Especially the forest parts.

I too want to know!
I've been excited for this, but the average reviews have me a little bit worried.

Btw Kyoufu, there's an ad on Eurogamer that says IU for 30 pounds, ShopTo.net. I don't know if that's a good site though since I don't live in the UK.

It's a good game. You'll most likely enjoy it. Just dont expect your mind to be blown or it to become the new JRPG benchmark.

I guess because I posted a sarcastic remark to Kobuns preview saying "screenshot or it didnt happen". Of course sarcasm doesnt go over very well on the intranets.

I'm not giving it a thumbs down/up, yet. I want to see the bonus dungeon!

Just go to Oradian Dunes head to the right via that small tunnel, you should him there.

edit: first
talk to the kids in the streets of Fayel, then talk to Gina again

So basically I have to keep doing what I was doing, except I made the mistake of not talking to one of the dozen random characters in the town to activate some trigger? loving the intuitive scenarios they give you in this game. Thankfully this game has really enjoyable combat, great music, pretty good visuals, and a passable story; the actual progression of the game is incredibly annoying. I still can't believe I had to
do a fetch quest and collect wood in my RPG. OH, OH, and not to leave out the damn escort mission...what the hell were they thinking?

Quick question, if you play on easy, will you still get Achievements? Love the look of this game so far, looks really sharp.

I actually really love this game so far. I don't think it's a new benchmark for RPGs or anything, but it's definitely got its hooks in me. It sort of feels like Star Ocean lite. Similar yet simplified combat and crafting. I also really like Aya and Sigmund's character designs. Very VP/Radiata Stories-esque. I've juts hit the 10 hour mark which makes me kind of sad considering all the talk I've been hearing about this being barely a 20 hour game.

better than lost odyssey?

So far, I would say that this is game is most like a JRPG made with a joint developer between Bioware and Tri-ace. I don't think that game exists, but if it did, it would be similar to IU.

Was just reading on another forum that you don't get the entire story if you beat the game on normal? What exactly do you miss out on? Is it just scenario stuff? Or are we talking about a full on difference in endings?

Also, has anyone seen or heard about the bonus dungeon (if there is one) just curious about the quality of it.

On the music note, though I haven't really gotten too far still. It's currently leaving me a bit disappointed, seems like one of Sakuraba's weaker works. And no before you assault me about Tales, I'm compared to his non-tales stuff. Like VP, SO3, and the BKs.

I'm quite enjoying the combat and finding myself just running around fields and killing stuff. Not that deep into the story yet.
broke the first chain
But it kinda feels like the item creation system of an mmo, the graphics of what should be expected of a tri-ace game published by SE, and combat that reminds me of Secret of Mana. In theory, I should really hate this game according to my usual tastes of JRPGs, but I'm having a hard time putting the controller down on this. I have yet to hit any framerate issues that I heard might be going on. And of course, the voice sync demands the sacrifice of a thousand babies.

I just opened this and played it a little while. My first thought is holy hell the voices are just terrible. Not only do they not match the mouth movements at all, some of them just plain don't match the characters they come out of (Sigmund comes to mind). I thought Final Fantasy X was bad... at least they tried.

The whole Connect thing is so clunky, too. The menus seem unresponsive, so I'll hold RB and be like: X... X... I SAID X! Okay, now X again... X DAMMIT! Okay, now I have to aim, and... oh shit, screw it.

Still, overall, I'm enjoying it.

My sentiments exactly.

There's something about it that keeps me engrossed, I can't explain it.

Aw shit :/ 2 people offered the code to unlock the items and I was sleeping, my luck :(
Anyways, if someone more has an extra code it would be very sweet if they could pm me it since neither vgplus or play-asia offers it on pre orders.

Oh and how are the voice acting? Is it okey or do one still wish there was a japanese option?

Hey Tri-Ace your achievements fucking suck.

I've already missed like three of them. Including this stupidass one where you have to keep the boy from getting hurt. Not my fault they decided to start the battle off surrounding him with three cobras and a bear.

Anybody gif Capell doing the
dinner dance
yet? I could use a new avatar.

For SO4 Tri-Ace should just keep it simple and dole out achievements depending on how much of the battle trophy collection you complete....Maybe toss in a couple gimme ones for beating the game on different difficulties.

Jesus, I keep getting owned.

I'm in the woods, and these cat things are killing me.
Not stopping when you open the menu is a horrible idea.

I don't know whether I should restart on easy, or just sell it back.

I don't have the patience for this game, Vesperia is calling me.

No, but this is GAF so expect over reactions.

Well I've decided since Gamefly is sending me Vesperia and the strat guide for this game doesn't come till the 20th, I'm putting this game off until then and playing vesperia first. I want to complete this but feel I'll miss too much without the guide. Seem like I'll have to play through at least twice to see everything anyway just going by the difficulty descriptions before you start the game.

How does "Can be fun but also has annoying issues" sound? The bones for a solid action JRPG are there but dont expect the typical S-E production values. IU definitely could have used more polish but if you enjoy action rpg's and can overlook some issues you would probably find it worth a play.

is beloved, despite what anyone might say
Definitely gonna be a like it or hate it game... seems to have even more issues than the usual tri-Ace game. I'm a big tri-Ace fanboy so so far I like it in spite of its flaws, but I only made it into the first town.

Well played a bit more and just did the part where
you storm the front gates and have to use the catapults
and I'm loving it. The game started off on just a weird note for me. Can't really explain it but once I got to the the first little village and then did the dungeon, beat the boss, went to the plains and made my way to the next area... I love it.

Although I somehow accidently went back to the woods that you start off in thinking that was the way to proceed and was in there for a good twenty minutes. Least I got experience though. :D
