iOS Gaming March 2016 | Your backlog grows in tiny bits

Finished The Room series, absolutely awesome games. Getting all the endings in 3 is kind of tedious, but I still think it's the best one. Fulfilled my post-The Witness cravings pretty well.

I'm usually not a fan of people declaring "this game should be in VR!" for every game done in first person...but playing these types of games in VR with touch controllers would be fantastic. Maybe Fireproof games is already looking into it considering they did a little VR game over on Android.

Also finished Lost Socks and played some Super Tribes. Super Tribes is fun but gets old pretty quickly. If they added more objectives than just score and an endless mode I would be set. I'd drop a few bones for that instead of a dollar for another tribe.

Oh, new game from the dev of Odd Bot Out

Nobody giving 9th Dawn 2 some love?
I'm loving it so far, had some impressions on the last page:

After playing 9th Dawn a little bit, that discussion about bad graphics=/= bad gameplay that we had last page holds up pretty well in this instance. I was put off by the dark and murky textures of the game at first but now I'm quite enjoying the game. Puzzles are challenging and controls work quite good, knowing where to go is sometimes difficult though.

Release date for Verreciel coming by the end of the week

Nice, looks like something I might try out.

There was a game removed from the OP (in the Coming This Month section) I was interested in but didn't take down the name. I believe it was described as a story-based game with puzzles, the screens had you looking through some sort of book or manual with black and white pictures. Anyone remember it?

iPad Pro 9.7's pricing made me uninterested in the Mini 4 completely. I really hope it can get a refresh this coming September with A9

About to upgrade my iPad 3 to an Air 2 later this week - excited to get back to more recent games! I found I couldn't install RCT3 on the 3rd gen so I'm looking forward to playing that and catching up on what I've missed.

I know the 9.7" Pro will be out soon but given it has the same memory as the Air 2, I'd rather put the ~£200 saving towards the next upgrade and just get the Air at the reduced price.

RCT3 will crash on the Air 2 as well due to a bug but a fix is coming before the end of this month.

Thanks - does it run well enough apart from the crash (or is it a crash at startup)? I can't even download it on the 3rd Gen as it says it's not compatible.

Edit: Picked up an Air 2 today and installed RCT 3 (it got a price drop too!) - seems to run at least, which is good. I'll hold off on any serious playing until the patch though.

Other than the Furdemption sequel (still working on the first game in my backlog), anything else noteworthy coming out today/tonight?

Off Topic - Sorry looking for advice on iPhone + new iPad, I'm sure some of you are getting sick of my off topic posts but I've been following this thread for years and respect your advice, not to mention not sure where else to ask this. (BTW, from My previous posts I did pick up an iPad Mini 4, and love it, it's just a bit bigger than my Nexus 7 which for me translates to better readability. Very happy so far).

For the folks with an iPhone and iPad, I'm trying to decide on 1 iCloud account or 2.

I was going put my primary iCloud account on my iPad but there are some games that I want separate, primarily my one F2P affliction Puzzle & Dragons. I have 2 accounts, but that won't work if I use the same iCloud they will overwrite each other.

It's nice getting texts on my iPad when I'm using it, and I use DayOne Journal so I see the benefit of sharing iCloud across the 2 devices.

What do you guys recommend 1 iCloud or 2?

could you just create a different iCloud account for Game Center, and log into Game Center with that on the iPad? Keep the main iCloud account for everything else on that iPad + iPhone.

Woohoo, my first game at PikPok has been released worldwide!

Doomsday Clicker! Now out on iOS and Android!

It's a new take on Clicker games - kind of a Clicker / Builder, but with a lot of effort on it being more fun and goofy with it, and emphesis on seeing change over time when you're upgrading rooms and causing numerous Doomsday scenarios!

Would love to hear any feedback from the game from you guys. Just super excited about releasing a game - it's been a while :)

Woohoo, my first game at PikPok has been released worldwide!

Just want to jump in to say Rlan has been an amazing addition to the PikPok team. Creative, proactive, and passionate.

We pretty much "met" through these monthly iOS games threads, and it was here that I first learned of his departure from Halfbrick and then reached out.

So, a nice side bonus from participating in the community here :)

Today is so slow. Hoping we get some surprise release or something.

Just downloaded Doomsday Clicker, not a big fan of clickers but it looks fun

I demand royalties.

Game looks charming, will give it a go - had a modicum of fun with Bitcoin Billionaire.

That's awesome! Glad he's working out. I figured some smart team would grab him first chance after hearing the news. Glad I wasn't wrong. ;)

Can definitely say both Rlan and I will be watching the thread for feedback. There is huge list of ideas on where to take the game based on the fairly simple foundation it has, so we'll be talking about that over the next couple of weeks and factoring in what people have to say.

Really like Super Arc Light. Controls take a bit of getting used to -- even after taking break I kind of needed to get into a groove again. But the mechanics of spiraling around and timing when to stop to shoot are unique and addictive.

One possible bug is that I've broken my high score but that score isn't always kept at times. Another thing that like to see is a way to turn of the ticking sounds of your shots. The music is decent but that shooting sound effect grates on my nerves after a while. Maybe even just a different sound would help.

Overall, it's easily worth the $1 with the one more time gameplay and what seems to be a long list of weapon unlocks.

Preface: I have played Tap Titans for a few hundred hours. I've also put a few dozen hours into Clicker Heroes. I have given many other clicker games a fair shake but these 2 are the only ones to have kept my attention for more than a few days.

This is only my opinion, and may not reflect the majority opinion concerning the genre.

So...Doomsday Clicker.

The good:
Interface
Visual style
Occasional tap for a chance at gold and money
No repetitive tapping

The bad:
Saves not validated when prestiging. I can time skip using my phone.
No decision making to be made besides choosing when to prestige.
No real strategy. Upgrade. Come back later. Repeat.

After an hour or so with the game (time skipping got me to around 150 mil mutants so far), I'm having trouble seeing what sets this apart from Adventure Capitalist. My time with both had been only a few hours though, so it's simply a surface comparison.

Tap Titans has a few important things going for it, in my opinion:

1) Saves are legitimate. Time skipping is detected upon prestiging and cheaters may not participate in leaderboards or tournaments. Tap Tycoon disables idle income after detecting a time skip.

2) Random artifacts can be rolled for using prestige currency (e.g. Humans). This gives the game a more addictive edge and rerolling these artifacts offers the player some choice and strategy.

3) Progression Walls. A first prestige is a challenge. Afterwards, there are several important milestones that offer incredible breakthroughs, but each milestone takes several prestige to reach. This keeps me invested.

I feel like 1) is somewhat important for the longevity of the game. While an online check for prestiging may seem anti consumer, it enforces legitimacy, and I feel that a String community can build around the game when legitimacy is somewhat assured. Of course, this isn't strictly true as Clicker Heroes seems to have done well despite possible save file editing on the PC side of things.

For me, Doomsday Clicker will not hold my attention. I feel I've already exhausted any surprises it may have to offer, and I feel like I've seen it all before.

I certainly don't want to discourage anyone for checking this out. If you haven't gotten into the genre, Doomsday Clicker's relatively quick pace and low demand will have you quadrupling profits in no time.

It definitely has that one-more-go appeal and easy one-handed controls that make it a perfect quick-session, waiting-on-line kind of game

Love the minimalist aesthetic too, with the deep hole in the center and the camera angling around as you rotate, giving an appearance of depth. It's quite slick

A game I worked on is now out! It's called Don't Die, Mr. Robot! and it's an avoid-em-up with cute graphics, catchy music and really smooth gameplay.

It should work on pretty much all iPhones and iPads newer than iPhone 4s.

Mike and Charlie of Infinite State Games made the original version on PS Vita, and we then ported it from PS Vita to iOS. There's a PS4 version too, but I haven't personally played that one.

I think we did a really good job with the tilt controls on iOS, so please do give it a go.

Out There is the gift that keeps on giving. Mi Clos is up there with Frogmind in terms of post-release support

I'm really happy the game was so successful for the devs...reading their post mortem is heartbreaking...the game was on the verge of never see the light of the day several times.

One of my most favorite games ever (on any platform) and one of my most played for sure...for some reason I'm really addicted to it.
Sometimes I let it 'sleep' for some months, then I'm addicted all over again.
The story, once you see all the endings, is surprisingly good and interconnected...can't wait for their new games/stories expanding the lore of the game.

I'm currently doing a (hopefully) gold run right now...looking forward the new techs they added in this expansion (I've not activated the new game mode for obvious reasons).
