no idea what was wrong with it, it's 72x120 right?

The forum makes any avatar 90 pixels across, so that 72x120 becomes 90x150, which is too tall by 30 pixels.

Is it alright to ask for a resizing of a picture for avatar usage? If so, I would love it if someone could resize this picture so that it fits the forum filesize/dimensions limit.

Not usually. They usually only delete them when someone reports the image.

I always thought that if one of the dimensions was too small that the forum stretch it to fix, not an aspect ratio resize. No wonder my avatar got changed. ; ;

Here is the one I'd like to use. It's 4 year old Fox looking at a girl sitting in front me while we're taking a class portrait!
