That should be fine; it's 70 x 70, so it scales to 90 x 90. Change your avatar to that in the User CP and when you've done that, let me know and I'll remove your penalty avatar.

Anyone else looking to get reset, learn from these guys' example! Set your avatar to the one you're asking about using your User CP before you ask me about it so all I need to do is turn off your penalty avatar.

88*120 at 9.4 kb. Isn't that inside the limit?

the 88 is whats messing you up. It resizes and screws up the proportions, you gotta get it up to 90.

60*90 is a 2:3 ratio, which is less than 3:4, so it's bad.

As stated in multiple places, the board stretches or shrinks whatever you give it to be 90 pixels wide while maintaining the aspect ratio of the image. After stretching, if the height would be more than 120 pixels, then the avatar is bad. So it's not that the board doesn't like resizing. It actually resizes everything.

The easy way to see if an avatar is legal is just to calculate width divided by height. If that is less than 0.75, the avatar is bad. Equal to or greater than 0.75 and you're good.

In your example, 60/90=0.66..., which is less than 0.75 and hence too long ( or not wide enough). Images at a height of 90 would need to be at least 68 pixels wide to be valid.

Red Scarlet didn't accept this. I'm not sure if charlequin feels the same way. Thus, it's probably safer just to update with a valid avatar.

If you really want no avatar, you can get by using the purely blank image from the following link:

It's just a 90*1 image of transparent pixels. Follows all the GAF rules, but you essentially have no visible avatar.

As noted in the OP, avatars need to be 120 pixels or less once they're scaled to be 90 pixels wide by the forum software. a 60x90 avatar will get scaled up to 90x135, which is too big. You'll either need to cut it down to 60x80 or pad it out with transparent pixels so the original 60x90 version displays without scaling.

In order to demonstrate at least a basic, moderate level of comprehension of the avatar rules and how they should be followed, I would like everyone who wants a reset to actually show me at least one actual avatar that follows those rules, although yes, a 90x1 row of transparent pixels would technically qualify. :lol

It's set to a valid URL. The problem is that the site he is using doesn't like hotlinking. jetjevons, all we see is:

I thought I was under the maximums I couldn't scale it to 90px or 120px because of the dimensions.
