I will use analogy so its easier to understand, imagine u are self proclaimed "10/10 bad bitch" 304, and are in gay bar full of gay(not bi, not fluid, full on gay, aka attracted to males exclusively) guys- u can advertise ur kitty as much as u can but u wont get any buyers there(concord at launch 40$), hell if u offer ur kitty for free u still wont get any takers either, concord going f2p would be like a free kitty in a bar full of gay guys- no1 fricken cared about it ;)
You were joking, but this happens, A LOT!
It's really annoying being at a gay bar with friends and suddenly a group of crazy girls, that think they are so hot even gays will fall for them, or it's their destiny to convert them to str8, comes in and start rubbing themselves on the guys or making really sad figures on the dance floor.

From what I hear, it was actually a pretty good game for the type of game is was meant to be. Unfortunately, no one wants any more of these type of games.
It wasnt.

The core gameplay and modes were ok at best. It didnt do anything great, or anything awful. It's been done before.

Problem is if you got gameplay that is fine, you got to do other things that make gamers want to play because a lot of other games play fine too. And a combo of DEI, bad art style, boring maps, an ugly faded pastel colour palette, and forcing gamers to switch characters after every win, there is no way it'd be successful.

And worst of all, they didnt show gamers till 3 months till launch. So there was no turning back even if they wanted to do changes. They were so confident they had a hit game, they finally promoted just a handful of months till launch. This is the kind of marketing established shooters like COD do as they still want gamers playing last years game. A brand new IP with tons of money at stake you'd think they'd promote gameplay snips a year or two out. Not 3 months.

Full disclousure- never went to a gay bar(for obvious reason) but knowing women i am sure u telling the truth =D

What's there to misunderstand about a boring multiplayer game with really cringe dialogue and cutscene writing? Not to mention ugly ass characters with no justification or interesting backstory. This could have had a chance if it were single player and they got rid of the weakest characters.

"One of the things that a lot of people wonder in the comments section is like, 'what are they thinking!? How do these devs not know (how the game is being received)?' We know. We know full well. We know what's happening. We agree with it half the time. And more often than not, it's (changing the game) just not possible given the circumstances, given the stakes, the sunk cost into these things."

Do you? Do you Really?
"We were excited locally in the studio, but the public had no idea what it was at first. I thought people were just harsh during the reveal trailer. I was like 'You know what? There's things we need to work on but it's okay. Once people touch the game, it's going to change things.''"

Wait nope. Nope you don't.

Sounds like deflection again to me. Basically saying "oh, our game was great, it's just no one played it!"

Bitch, your game was woke version of Overwatch... Even if it was the most technically competent game ever made, it was still just a lesser copycat of something that isn't really as popular as it once was.

Marvel Rivals puts a wrench into some of my understanding...maybe it's the cuz that game is F2P, maybe it's the Marvel character, maybe it's cuz the chicks are actually hot in it, I dunno, but Concord was not appealing to look at, and it was still pay to play, but was still gonna have plenty of F2P elements.
They built a hero shooter where all the heroes (which should be its main selling point) were uniquely unappealing.

People play hero shooters to enjoy kicking ass as their fav characters. If all the characters are lame then that ain't happening. They also act as the games shop window…so just a massive fail
100%. Sony made it 100x worse by killing it the way they did. They could have just put it on PS+, run out the content they had, do a few updates. Give people more than a week to play it.

Yes, they can afford it. FBC Firebreak is still up, and it's self-published. Sony was just embarrassed and can't handle any negative feedback without throwing a tantrum. Redfall got updated for a year, always online removed, and it's still available for sale and I'm glad.

As for this interview, I'm glad they're talking about it. Kind of an interesting perspective. The game wasn't even glitchy or that bad, just memed to death and some cringe character designs.
my guess is by pulling it from sale and refunding all the copies they can pull some corporate tax jiggerypoker, effectively "unrelease it", and claim the whole endeavour as some huge tax offset.

I Come to Shanghai (Robert Ashley's band) has made some of the greatest music I've ever heard. Eternal Life Vol.1 and 2 are amazing, could not recommend more.

I had forgotten that A Life Well Wasted existed for years prior to this thread. What a lovely surprise.

I hope Shawn Elliott is doing well, whatever he's up too.
