Jade Raymond has left PlayStation's Haven Studios

She has accomplished so little that even after 18 years she is still referenced as "the producer of Assassin's Creed" because that is literally the last successful thing she was a part of.

Which is crazy because Patrice Desilets was the actual director and genius behind the game. But they pushed her to the forefront to do interviews and give presentations and she's been riding that wave for 18 years now.

Her Wiki is unreal. Nothing but failed games and failed studios since she left Ubi but she keeps getting awards for her "incredible contributions to the industry".

In October 2018, she received the Pioneer Award from the Fun & Serious Game Festival, recognizing her "contributions to the industry as a producer of games that are considered a turning point in the industry".

Bordering on stolen valor at this point.

.

Neil is probably a top choice .

I called it out as soon as this appeared on one of their earnings slides a couple of years ago and fucking Josh Holloway went crazy at me.

Even funnier was people saying that it would not impact their single player games output. So many crows for shills to eat this gen is not even funny anymore.

Can someone enlighten me why she's such as big name? Afaik, she was "only" the producer on the OG Asassin's Creed, Patrice Desilets was the actual director and designer. But everyone acts like she's on the level of Kojima or something.

Bitch was pretty hot when she was young.
She indeed was, nowadays tho, she went down from solid 8 to below avg, but no wonder, she was born in 1975, she will be fucken 50 in 4 months xD
Edit: interview from 3years ago so she was 46yo, her face still looks good, but since she is pretty rich no idea if/how much and what kind of work she has done on her, nowadays its so hard to tell, still i stand corrected, at least in that interview at 46yo she was above avg look at face altho huge difference vs her younger self,

Just quick comparision to her youthful self:

Sure......if all you are looking at is video game bitches. She ain't ugly, but she ain't winning any beauty contests outside of video game nerd land.
I think she look vastly better than someone like analah pierce other than big tits so i disagree, she was pretty cute full stop.

Just how many wasted millions of man hours and $ have gone into Sonys catastrophic Gaas initiative. It's not so much even the waste, but rather the games that were never green lit in favor of this crap.

She is cuter than Alanah Pearce, I'll agree with you there.

Can't wait to see our posts highlighted in another rage video from Alanah Pearce

Concord flopping, Haven probably closing, Marathon being plagiarized left and right...

Helldivers 2 developers (the only live game that was a hit for Sony) already mentioned their next game won't be with Sony...

This gen will be remembered by the huge flop that this live games initiative was for Sony. It set them back quite a lot. If Bungie ends up flopping with Marathon...this joke ended up costing Sony what...over 6, 7b? Between canceled games, closed studios, Bungle not doing anything for them...yikes...

Hopefully, they fire Hermen and bring back Shawn Layden or Shuhei Yoshida and focus on what made them great in the first place.

They still need to close Haven and get rid of Bungie somehow.

Abandoning the pc initiative would be great too.

Her work is at the executive side and has been great so far, kickstarting many successful franchises at Ubisoft and some of the best selling games from existing franchises, she then moved to EA to found Motive that made Star Wars Squadrons and Dead Space Remake, the short stint at Stadia is wasted for obvious reasons, that's why Sony quickly bought her studio.

Not saying she can't fail, Fairgames could very well be the first, but her previous works do back it up her capital. Sony had way more logic buying Haven than Firewalk.

Sony hired her as studio director, somebody who can lead a project from the ground, not from executive heights. That's why mentioning her as "Assassins Creed creator" is a total travesty.

She doesn't have any track record in creative vision, the main thing you need when starting up a new project.

The acquisition was as idiotic as every other in the past few years.

So you want Sony to go back to making console games exclusively, pretending that costs aren't through the roof and forgetting all other platforms?

PC initiative is not wrong for them. It gives them some extra bucks.

Also...something else that i "fear": Horizon as an IP isn't nearly as strong as Sony thinks, specially after Forbidden West. Having a GaaS game still in development, plus Horizon 3 will...not go well for them.

Why? She has super successful career. She made tons of money selling grifts to geniuses like hulst&co. Don't see why she should quit if it works.
The upper echelons of corporate america (in general, not just gaming) is a pretty strange place. There's tons of toxic positivity and corporate hoo-rah, but it's also simultaneously super political. You can be fantastic at your job but get shit-canned anyway over some petty bullshit if the right person doesn't like you. At the same time, if the right person likes you can be dogshit at your job and keep getting promotions.

Merit has so little to do with career progression once you get into middle management and above - it's all optics, politics and personal branding. Go scroll LinkedIn for 20 minutes, look at people you've worked with/for in your industry and the absolute fluffed bullshit they come up with. The more fluffy the bullshit, the higher they climb.

How Herman greenlights a game:

Hey this plays like another popular gaas game, and it can improve my ESG score with my buddies at blackrock. Here's a few million.

Then we should take all awards from Kojima and give them to the Konami ligistics office. Their contribution to MGS is similar to her contribution of Assassin's Creed.

Who cares about Spielberg directing Jurassic Park?
It's Kathleen Kennedy and Gerald R. Molen according to Wikipedia, who we should be applauding, they were the producers after all!!!

Until Hermen leaves once and for all, this ridiculous situation won't end for Playstation. How much does the Playstation brand have to be damaged for him to be fired?

i was just wondering; back in the day where Xbox was more of a thing and bad news like this came out, it was very common to see people saying things like:

"this happens all of time"
"you are just a hater"
"media is bias"
etc...
Notice how when Concord was revealed it was rejected by nearly everyone, even Sony fans? And ultimately lead to one of the most monumental flops in video game history?
Yeah well that sort of criticism never came from "Xbox fans" no matter what terrible decisions they made. Really makes you think. We do know for a fact there were shills for MS trying to spin whatever negative news they got into a positive. Same shit happens with Nintendo fans except I doubt any of them are paid, they're just lunatics.

Of course we have a few exceptions, even here on this forum, but its very obvious who the Sony boot lickers are.

Look up the difference between a producer and a director.

It only felt like yesterday when the Xbox Twitter crowd was trying to convince everyone that Redfall wasn't a massive piece of shit even though the writing was on the wall from the first trailer. The absolute audacity of Xbox to use that as a "one more thing" reveal.

Even on those early games, she was a producer - not a director, designer, programmer or writer. In this industry, that role is a lot of business-side needs, and helping dev teams get through roadblocks and solve problems. Super valuable role for sure and plays a big part in make sure things stay on track and make deadlines, but you can't just throw a producer with a good track record at the top of a studio and have 80+ MC games fall out. You still need a good director, designers, programmers and artists.

That's a good point. I'm thinking of producers in Hollywood. As far as I can tell, their job is mostly a managerial one, making sure things stay organized and on track. The "creatives" are the writers, directors, and actors. The producer is more or less a coordinator-of-activities, someone who greases the skids and makes sure the different elements come together. I'm sure some producers have creative talent, but the ones I've know did not. They tried their hand at writing and/or directing, and they really stunk it up.

Helldivers 2 may be the worst thing to happen to Playstation long term. Great game, but it's a siren song that's being used to justify the creation of a parade of live service failures.

Helldivers 2 came out last year. All this other shit has been the pipeline way longer than that, this stuff was coming even if HD2 flopped

If these teams were actually passionate about the games they're making, they'd probably turn out better. But they're clearly not passionate about fairgames, just like the concord team clearly wasn't passionate about that project. They just saw dollar signs.
