Yao is the softest motherfucker ever. Forget allt his "he needs to develop a mean streak" crap, he will NEVER do that. He's always gonna be soft. its just sad seeing him out there physically struggling against guards and small forwards.

Im starting to think Odom can become our fulltime PF. He's already got the size, and he rebounds like a mofo. Im not so sure he's really playing "out of position" that much. I think with Kobe/Butler/Odom, we've got a nice 2-3-4 foundation.

Yeah, what Hakeem did against Robinson was called "Career Ender"

Is that why DRob won two titles later on and retired on top, closing his career with a double double on the last game of the Finals, while Hakeem rot away in Toronto?
:D

You see that footwork Kobe's using in the post? The fake-spin/jab step while staying in place in order to get the defender off-balance or to bite on the fake spin to the baseline? That's all Jordan. He used it twice on one sequence earlier when TMac was guarding him, and drew the foul on Tracy, and he just used it again. I'm telling you guys-- I'm not the only one who's been watching tapes. :D

damn Kobe was all over Tmac on that last play.

i really hope Mitch's plan isn't to clear up cap space to make a run at Yao in '07. That fucker doesn't deserve the honor of wearing the purple and gold.

yes, i'm sure jordan is the only player in NBA history to utilize the fake-spin/jab move in an attempt to catch a player off guard.

If by all over, you mean trying to shove him into the backcourt...

Wow! The Rox are fucking embarassing right now. Had it down to 9, but now looks like they're about to take another trip to Blowoutville again. Yao is indeed a big pussy. How can you be that fucking big and still play so soft? T-Mac is the fucking man as usual, but nothing new there. He's not exactly lighting it up tonight, but that's ok. Van Gundy OTOH has got to be embarassed that he's performing this poorly with the talent he has. Seriously, how is this team this bad? PEACE.

Actually he is-- at least that I've seen. Try not to question me when it comes to the finer points of basketball, mmmkay? :)

It's not just that he turns around and fakes a slow spin to the baseline, but rather that he combines it with an initial quick jab-step in the opposite direction while his back is turned to the defender before he executes the spin, and carries the ball low with two hands through it in one fluid motion; it's sort of like a pirouette on one foot. It's a very specific move that I've never seen anyone other than Jordan make. Sorry if you don't believe me, but I notice all good players' movements in terms of footwork and skills, and I've never seen it used besides Jordan and now Kobe. Kobe's also picked up a few other MJ footwork moves this season that I've never seen anyone else use (not even elite offensive players like TMac, Iverson, or Pierce/Carter), though you're free to not believe me. I can tell that Kobe's been watching tapes. :D

Unreal-- the Lakers hit everything they throw up. Shades of Derek Fisher and Devean George.

The Rocket's Perimeter defense as well as rotating off their man has been HORRENDOUS the past two games. Phoenix and LA have gotten so many wide open looks at 3s.

Must agree with you here....Kobe's baseline game is straight from the Jordan archive. Those little details are also what seperate Kobe's offensive game form someone like TMac, who probably has more talent (in terms of body/hands).

Cook and Odom routinely hit shots like that. It is called skill.

You can give those clowns 3's in practice and they wouldn't hit as many as they hit tonight. :lol C'mon now-- the Lakers hit EVERYTHING they put up in the 4th.

I totally agree, and it's what set Jordan apart as well, which is why I always splooge over his skills. :p Thing is, with MJ, there were just SO MANY little nuances to his game like that, both offensively and defensively-- just little things I've never seen anyone else do. :)

This game was the first time I've seen Kobe use that move, and I've seen around 13 Lakers games this season (he's also never used it in seasons past). He must be furiously scribbling down notes while he's watching those Jordan tapes. :p

What was the bet?

Rockets have the better record, Piston is banned. Lakers have the better record, I'm banned.

He then called the bet off in #GA saying, and I quote "Divac is done for the season, the bet is called off!" :lol
