I enjoyed both of them for the same reasons.Am I the only one that enjoyed Red State and Tusk? I thought they were different.

I get the feeling that Mallrats will eventually come back in some form, maybe 15 years from now when gen xers want to relive their early youth and remind everyone what a 'shopping mall' used to be in a zany throwback sense. There can be wacky references to other decrepit things like flip phones, CDs, video arcades and Jason Mewes.
More artists should do this. Worrying about what other people want is what leads to so many unoriginal pieces of media.
Not to mention, that was his same exact mentality when he was making what people consider to be his good movies.
I don't understand why people are shitting on the idea of Clerks III when Clerks II was so entertaining.

I'm just kidding btw! I can see how someone might not like Tusk and Yoga Hosers. (Especially Tusk, that shit gets wretched, but I loved it lol)Jay & Silent Bob said:All you motherfuckers are gonna pay. You are the ones who are the ball-lickers. We're gonna fuck your mothers while you watch and cry like little, whiny bitches. Once we get to Hollywood and find those Miramax fucks who is makin' the movie... we're gonna make them eat our shit, then shit out our shit, and then eat their shit that's made up of our shit that we made 'em eat. Then you're all you motherfucks are next.
Love- Jay and Silent Bob.
Gen Xers are gonna be like 65 in 15 years.
Good is subjective, so your point is kind of moot. Personally, I've found value in every Kevin Smith movie and I've seen all of them outside of Yoga Hosers.Creative works are good because they are good.
Being original doesn't automatically make it worth while.
Exhibit A: Yoko Ono
I've been clamoring for a new Jay & Silent Bob. Love all of his films.
The real issue here is that no one has handed Kevin Smith a superhero movie to direct yet. He'd do a great job with a high budget campy Batman or something. Maybe one day..
His short run on Daredevil was good. His Batman isn't. I've never read his Green Arrow but I've heard more good impressions than bad.Is any of his comic book work worth reading? I'm not familiar with any of the superhero stuff he's involved himself in.

Having read his Superman Lives script years ago I would, with all due respect disagree.
will kevin smith please just stop
Kevin Smith is a wonderful guy, that in every respect is an average artist. He works best on television because the producer has already dictated the style of the show, and the actors already have an idea of how to approach their characters. There's not a lot for him to mess up. With a film. Watch out. All indications from looking at his filmography suggests he wouldn't be able to handle directing a studio film.
Oh shit Kevin Smith is still making films?
I say this as someone who used to be a fan but stopped giving a shit a loooooong time ago.

Clerks II was incredible. So much heart for a goofy comedy. Hoping for the same here.

And if my options are good and repetitive or bad but original, I'd take bad but original because at the very least there might be something I haven't seen before. Obviously in a perfect world you want good and original, but you can't do that without taking the chance that your original thing might not land with everyone.
I've listened to his podcasts, watched live appearences, skimmed through his events, and cringed my way through his latest movies.
We need to stop giving this man money. He only wants to entertain himself and clearly no one else and he wants other people to pay for it.
The best parts of Clerks 2 were the ones where you got the sense that the entire Kevin Smith crew was ready to move on. It acknowledges that the characters are old and their schtick is pathetic.
