Jimmy Fallon Cratering in the Ratings, Skirting Near Third Place in "Late Night Wars"

I wonder if anyone here has been on this ride. I imagine it'd be torture.

Strongly disagree. Politics invading everything sounds like a damn nightmare.

Yeah, you would say that.

Seth Meyers deserves way more recognition for what he's doing. Not just for his A Closer Look bits, but also for the way he's been giving his female writers a spotlight regularly.

Seth Meyers is just doing what he did on SNL, and I ain't complaining about that. Dude is great.

Yep

Between Seth, Colbert and Kimmel, Fallon deserves to be below all of them.

Oh yes, definitely. Seth is also just a nice guy all around. Not saying Colbert and others aren't, but Seth has a real calm and sweet aura around him, even when he's joking around. Of course, he's also serious when he needs to be.

I miss Jon Stewart.

I just can't believe he left. This was his year!

I find Fallon to be bland. Have nothing against him nor hold anything against him for the Trump thing. He just offers me nothing I’m interested in.

I grew up on George Carlin and Bill Hicks. I like comedy with an edge. Jokes that cut. Wit that bites. Fallon has none.

Conan is truly the funniest host any late night show has ever had. He's actually too good for the format, and I hope he'll be able to adapt to something new some day.

Colbert is certainly the one I tend to watch the most on YouTube the day after, since he's so politically focused. I know people have been pissed at him since Spicer, but I don't see how that poor judgment invalidates the years of work put in at The Colbert Report and The Daily Show. Also, he's probably the most comfortable with getting confrontational with his guests.

I'll usually watch one Kimmel clip every week or so. His impassioned rants are great and, although it's lowbrow, Mean Tweets is usually pretty funny.

Meyers and Corden basically don't exist to me. I'll occasionally catch a Meyers clip, but it's pretty rare.

Fallon is pretty lame. I get the appeal of having celebrities play silly games and such, but it's not for me.

I miss Ferguson a lot. His show captured a very similar anarchy to Conan's original Late Night where literally anything could happen. I hope he comes back with something similar someday.

Dude, Twister was standing in line for an hour to see a fog machine turned on under a ceiling fan. It shouldn't have lasted as long as it did.

I legitimately had no idea that Last Call was still on the air, and it's freaking me out.
Conan is definitely the smartest and quickest wit. If he did a travelogue like Karl Pilkington I would watch the hell out of that.

If you're into the political stuff, you really should try to watch Seth Meyers' A Closer Look segments. They're hilarious and he really doesn't let up on the administration in the slightest.

Is Fallon gonna get Conan’ed? I don’t think Conan’s numbers were that bad when he hosted the Tonight Show.

No, Conan's numbers were never that bad and they didn't even give him a chance to prove himself. Even Colbert had worse numbers than Conan up until a year ago.

Conan's been having a lot of silent success online with his remotes and trips, with some of them bringing in tens of millions of views every month, slowly but surely.

There was no rebranding or normalising, the entire point of the joke is that he's a lying ass piece of shit.

The joke didn’t land.

Everyone knows Spicer’s worthless; it was pointless to waste time in a show meant to honor people’s achievements on him. Pretty much an affront to every decent person there, and even more so to poc and women.

Colbert and Kimmel aren't afraid to get political. Fallon still is for some reason.

For years and years, late night was not a political thing. Stewart changed that with his stint on The Daily Show, but the network late nights stayed decidedly apolitical for a long time. I mean, sure, you would have a political guest here and there, and Letterman would throw his two cents out in particularly charged situations, but 95% of the time they stayed away from it. Fallon is the successor to that.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?

Replace Fallon with Meyers and keep the band :D

Came to post this. Seth is killing it.

Fallon is such a hack. Obnoxious and unfunny. Even Fallon's "apology" about how he had Trump on his show was phoned in.

Agreed.

If Fallon continues to slip he won't make it another year.

This would be great.. Seth is far more talented, which means NBC will not go this route..

This would be an amazing story, but will never happen.. moreso from Conan than NBC.

I can't stand Jimmy Fallon. Been really enjoying Seth Meyers closer Look segments lately.

Alright... let's get to the news...

Exactly. Jesus Christ people will get offended about anything and everything these days. Colbert has been killing Spicer every week in his show and that interpretation is a huge reach.

Yea joking about how you deliberately lied to the American people on behalf of the President. LOL! LMAO!

Yea no, the result was celebrities laughing along and taking selfies with that piece of shit at the after party.

Maybe you don't know what rebranding or normalizing means?
