July Wrasslin’ |OT| The Ring’s a Field, the Field of War, That’s Where We Lay the Law

Tenay as a commentator baffles me. Its like he commentates TOO much. He calls out the move names sure, but he delivers them all with the same tone of voice. Its always "And now _______ with the ______, now ______ locks on the ______" He doesn't tell a story, its just MOVES MOVES MOVES

When they say that KENTA will be apart of the NXT roster, do they mean he will be in the show ASAP or will he have to spend a couple of months in the performance center? He's not exactly young, so I hope they don't take the slow route with him, he really doesn't need the training.
I'd be into watching some Sin Cara-ish mismatches and fuck ups. Put him on the show right away. Network exclusive botching and awkwardness.

I think it's funny how it feels the Internet has totally come around to understanding Vince's side on this since the late '90s. There was a brief month a few years ago where the WWE commentators weren't calling any moves or action and were only talking about story, and that was jarring and weird as fuck. What they're doing now is pretty good.

Kenta got signed, eh? Nice!

I pray WWE doesn't fuck this up.

They're gonna fuck it up. It's as inevitable as LOL CENA WINS.

Yeah, they still gotta improve the AI for those new Realdolls.

You know what would be an ultimate FU move by WWE?

Allowing KENTA to use to G2Sleep

And I PRAY they dont Yoshi Tastu Kenta and make him their stereotypical Japanese performer.

I'm very interested to see how KENTA's moveset is neutered in WWE. Considering the move he innovated is used by someone currently MIA in the company...

I'd imagine a lot of KENTA's success will hinge on whether he can speak acceptable English - even basic English phrases with a manager to back him up would be fine. If there's one thing KENTA doesn't lack, it's presence and intensity.

Of his three main finisher, two have been pinched by WWE wrestlers already (GTS and Busaiku Knee), while the 3rd is basically a cripple crossface variant. He also has a bridging Tiger suplex and fisherman buster that could work as a finisher.

I thought he did the Yes Lock, and started doing it after Bryan did.

Kenta should be this Asian sorcerer who stole the the souls of CM Punk and Daniel Bryan ala Shang Tsung.

Yes I agree with you Ithil 100 percent but let's not get hasty here. He has a lot more work in for him than most new WWE talent ever has been in recent history.

Remember when WWE signed Mistico?

Honestly, that was all Mistico's fault though. They tried their best to get him over. It kind of sucks we never got Mysterio Jr. vs Mistico. Lucha Libre in Mexico is a different culture. Most of the wrestlers do steroids(look how injury prone he became once he got off the steroids) and atleast half snort coke before matches to be alive for the crowd.

I can't wait for the commentators to get a hold of Kenta
Cole: "Shogun Kenta now with those educated feet."
King: "you wanna talk educated? Those feet are taking Sandow to school! AHHH!
JBL: "The hell you mean educated feet MAGGLE?! Sandow makes that ugly Jap Kunta's feet look like they take the short bus!"
Cole: "Uh, his name is KENTA, John"
JBL: "What? Ah, Kenta, Kunta, Kumbo, Who cares? It's Monday Night Raw! I love it Maggle!"
Cole/King:*snicker*
(Kenta hits the GTS)
Cole:"What a move!"
King: "I've never seen anything like that!"
JBL: "You can count to 100!"

Disagree. Puro style is much closer to WWE style than lucha. He has a lot more guys he can mesh well with than Sin Cara did. Plus he wrestles pretty much just like Bryan, and Bryan got over pretty much just on his in ring stuff. I think he can do well as long they don't treat him like Yoshi or give him an offensively stereotypical gimmick.

WCW commentary was never good. Even their few highlights were marred by a constantly below average performance. Schiavonne came off as a prick suckup, Bischoff was a prick, Tenay sounded like some dork mark, and Heenan never sounded like he wanted to be there. They also talked over each other constantly.

Ventura was still gold, but he can't carry Schiavonne.

Of course they'll give him an offensively stereotypical gimmick! They'll tailor him according to the expectations of "the WWE Universe."

I got how KENTA can get over guys! Book him with Heyman when he comes up to the main roster and have him be a monster using GTS and Running Knee as finisher and Heyman will go on mic saying "This is the better CM Punk! This is the better Daniel Bryan! Worship the future of the WWE!" Mega heat and can keep his moves because the crowd will think he's copying two of the most recent over guys in years in the WWE.

One thing worth remembering with Sin Cara is that the guys who WERE familiar with his style did a TERRIBLE job of making him look good - I'm looking at you, Primo & Chavo Jr.

Also, you can't quite compare him to Yoshi, who joined WWE less than a year out of his young lion phase - KENTA is a much more complete performer now than Tatsu ever was.

WWE is currently a company where two of the bigger stars is a flippy dippy lolindies guy and a former CZW star. Anything can happen in the WWF, Maggle!

Its kind of a shame that after Sin Cara fucked up that WWE will probably never sign someone and them immediately push them to RAW or SD again.

Sin Cara is basically proof positive that anyone, no matter how talented, should go to NXT for at least a little bit to get familiar with the ring and style.

i fucking hate typing with one arm, what i meant to say was he "a lot more going for him" than most in WWE history.

They kept his name ffs

Is there THAT big a difference really between say a main event NJPW match and a main event WWE match (between good workers that is), other than the NJPW having a lot harder/more varied bumps and probably being longer. Style/pacing wise they are pretty similar.

A main even Lucha match looks nothing like a main event WWE match.

More like a blessing. They get a nice period in NXT with creative freedom and a lot of focus and experimenting before they have to wade through the creative bog of the main roster.
