Drive club should have lower score there imo, it has no redeeming qualities. The handling in DC is atrocious and it's not just because it runs at 30 fps.
There are many cherrypicked shots in this thread that make Driveclub look worse than it really is. Specially this one shot. It keeps coming up, but the vast majority of people that played the game never encountered this bad quality.
BTW, Forza Horizon 4 can look really bad too, even on PC Ultra 8xMSAA:
it can look so flat as a bad lit cartoon:

But these don't represent the quality the game offers most of the time also.
and Driveclub still looks better
I'm not even trolling, I appreciate Forza's effort though.
Its amazing how they managed to make Driveclub look that great on such limited hardware
this ....hahaha but at least I appreciate the courage for saying such a boorplease ban him
im lazy, just take my word for it
Yes, I know...Again those still look 10x times better than Driveclub, every thing is much much higher quality from textures, draw distance, lod, environments, shadows. We had this conversation last year lol, and its still coming back.
Forza Horizon 4 never looked this bad (look at SS below) and you keep showing trafic cars like its the actual car model and go as low as possible with the drone lol.

Yeah 10 times is just to exaggerate it but it look better my guy, and the reason why the edges are smeared is because it was shot in drone modeYes, I know...and I honestly don't want to go back to that head banging.
But I think we can ditch the hyperboles and agree this doesn't look "10 times better":

Specially when this is from a PC version at Ultra, with 8xMSAA and even with forced Transparency AA from the Nvidia panel, that isn't even any feature of the game.
I do remember somebody posted some FH4 console version shots in that other thread that looked even much worse than these ones, but I don't think you saved those ones.
I have my boxed copy in my hand right now because of this thread. I played a lot of it. The game is not bliss in motion when stacked against other 60 FPS racers on PS4. Most of the gushing people do is over photo mode screenshots. It's not a bad game but there are much better options. That's exactly it. It bombed because people couldn't turn on the apex correctly, was too hard subjectively, played the original launch version then dumped it, didn't play the DLC, le netcode bro and of course the usual 30 FPS, low texture and 1080P arguments. Those who actually played the game know how much of a bliss the game actually is.
You can find unflattering images of any game, this isn't limited to Driveclub but Driveclub looks amazing overallno I am just still in shock after being subjected to this:
![]()
I too could not believe how bad this looks... no texture filtering to be seen, the trees look like literally badly photoshopped on, the anti aliasing looks like the game runs with checkerboarding and the textures are just mush
I still have this thought that that screenshot is maybe fake for some reason... like... is it? it's so bad...

Yeah 10 times is just to exaggerate it but it look better my guy, and the reason why the edges are smeared is because it was shot in drone mode. Also this thread is about a guy playing on ultra on pc and saying that Driveclub looked miles better. Why you always bring lower console versions when we have the pc version. You always like to compare it to base Xbox lol why?
kok but plz don't ever use replay or photo mode to prove a point about graphics looking good... these mode always turn up the settings (which is why replay runs in 30fps on base PS4 btw.)
Bruh, this is where i just don't understand you. You say its not fair to compare pc version because for whatever reason its unfair in your eyes, but you are totaly ok to compare Forza horizon 4 on base Xbox one on a console thats almost 50% weaker. Where is your logic? And posting photomode and saying it would look like this if it was on pc is the same as me saying my grandma would have a 8 inch dick if she was a man. And i agree for its time DC looked great and still has some features that are better than most games. But really it doesn't come close to Forza Horizon 4 on pc and you now i love DC.Because comparing the PC version is giving merit to a lot of stuff that is just bruteforced thanks just to PC and its thousands of dollars in hardware. It is a much more fair comparision to compare Driveclub, a base PS4 title, to the FH4 version from a similar hardware power console. But I already know you don't care.
FH4 can look like shit too, specially the consoles version:

Look, reality is what it is: Driveclub was limited to a base PS4 shitty hardware and never got any update to PS4 Pro, PS5 or a PC version. For what it was, specially in its time, Driveclub was/is great. It just didn't had the chance to scale up to better versions. If it had, just the better hardware provides the higher quality textures, draw distance, lod, environments, shadows, ... you noted from the FH4 PC version. With the bruteforce power of PC hardware it could have looked like the game looks in Photo Mode, and that would have been truly amazing:

Driveclub looks even better in motionWhen will people stop using photo mode to say how amazing a games graphics are? Photo mode is not representative of what the game looks like when you're playing it.
All racing games look better in motion than when still and actually in-game, but they don't look better than photo mode.Driveclub looks even better in motion
Oooh, the weekly Driveclub thread, this time in stealth form.
Is there any other dead game that gets so much ongoing discussion?
Any need for speed games.Someone please recommend me a PC racing game that looks better than Driveclub
I'd like to play it
I said "a similar hardware power console". PS4 s 1.84 teraflops, Xbox One S is 1.4 teraflops and the Xbox One X is 6.0 Teraflops. So yeah, even if the Xbox One S has the more similar hardware power, even if you compare it to the Xbox One X, which has more than 3x power, it's still a lot more fair than compare it to a thousands dollars PC that allows you to run the game at 4K60 Ultra 8xMSAA. But if I remember correctly, even on the Xbox One X FH4 is either 4K30 or 1080p60.Bruh, this is where i just don't understand you. You say its not fair to compare pc version because for whatever reason its unfair in your eyes, but you are totaly ok to compare Forza horizon 4 on base Xbox one on a console thats almost 50% weaker. So PGR4 is the best looking game ever because it runs on 320Gflop system with 512mb ram, because hey lets assume if it runs on a RTX 3090 it would have everything right? Thats not how it works my guy and thats not even the discussion in this thread lol. So as long as PS4 has a power advantage its no problem but comparing it with the PC version is wrong in your eyes. And the PS4 and Xbox one are not similar lol, PS4 is literally roughly 40% more powerfull. Also its not my fault that Sony was stupid enough to close Evo Studios without them upgrading the game on Pro and PS5. And yes i like those improvemnts that the photomode brings but thats not how it looks when you play it.I said "a similar hardware power console". The photo mode provides a lot of those improvements you like so much from the PC version of FH4. You can see the same improvements in texture quality, LOD, draw distance, shadows, motion blur and DOF samples and quality, AA, ... from any game that has been ported to PC from consoles. Nothing to do with your grandma.
But yeah, of course those features are much better on a PC version.
Try playing like me.I'm just in that mood I guess
was playing Microsoft Flight Simulator for the first time today and decided to take a strong nose dive into the ground yelling "Allah Akbar"
random
I actually played it. I'm into racers, from Gran Turismo to Forza and everything in-between.That's exactly it. It bombed because people couldn't turn on the apex correctly, was too hard subjectively, played the original launch version then dumped it, didn't play the DLC, le netcode bro and of course the usual 30 FPS, low texture and 1080P arguments. Lol did you play the game on a decent HDR tv? The lighting is one of the best on any game, racing or not. Its super natural outside few circumstances ofcourse (fully dynamic with seasons)The polygon count and the rain effects on the Cars / roads are unmatched to even horizon 4 or 5 even ( yes I said 5 too based on the trailer and that 4 min game play from the same car they used on forza horizon 4 )
This is the same goes for forza games in general compared to GT even.
forza suffers from unrealistic lighting or maybe more colorful than it should is the correct word ?
take away the rain effects on the stage, and no longer looks as good as those gifs ( to those who complain about those gifts , no the game look like that on my ps4 . Just remove the hud, put the weather on extreme at 1200pm and play any of the snow levels on Norway ? Yeah your jaw gonna drop . They still do to this day on my ps5 .
Sony sucks for shutting down the studio and I started hated Sony when they did . Fuck them and fuck them again. I took it personal against Sony when they did this while allowing the Japanese shit company phony digital to exist when they take 7 years to make 1 game and not as good as its previous releases.
technically though, with the open world forza, it's way more advanced than drive club . Just less polygon counts and horrible lighting / color as I said previously.
The Porsche car in horizon 5 trailer looked to have more polygons than drive club. If all cars will get this treatment then they are on track to have the best looking racing game ever made.
You should try Assetto Corsa with mods, the rain looks even better and reacts more life like.Driveclub has bar none the best water graphics in any driving game I've ever played. I have no idea why no company has come anywhere close since.
Other than that, no, Forza 4 beats Driveclub in every other possible category. Instead of comparing the games, you should instead consider Project Gotham and Driveclub as progenitors of the Forza Horizon series.
What you say maybe true . It's just for some reason the cars are not as good as the building when it comes to lighting . And I agree the environment looks much better on forza ( well aside from when it rain. It looks better on drive club )Lol did you play the game on a decent HDR tv? The lighting is one of the best on any game, racing or not. Its super natural outside few circumstances ofcourse (fully dynamic with seasons)

I actually agree with OP, DriveClub still after all these years looks better than most games out there. And FH4 is one of my fav games of all time.
In before 30 FPS and low quality textures and 1080P Resolution.
Still the only game to scare the shit out of me going in at high speeds.
Driveclub most definitely does look better in motion than stillsAll racing games look better in motion than when still and actually in-game, but they don't look better than photo mode.
You still have doubt?Im glad op didnt compared to Forza Horizon 5. I would have start doubting your mental condition then.
Yeah sorry but no. Car details on drive club way above this and I believe you can tell tooLooks good to me

DriveClub got 5 cars on track at a time. Its a track racer runs at 30fps.
Horizon 4 open world racer with way more stuff happening on screen.
DriveClub lighting during rain nd all look visually pleasing but its not doing very less compared to Forza Horizon
