fair enough, but a little tip. Most models from Driveclub and Forza comes from the same 3d studio, its just the devs add the little details like the lights and other interior details. So saying that Driveclubs models are way above is funny when both devs outsourced from the same 3d studio

Its the same every time, little gif with rain. Than you play the game on a decent 4K screen and you see how it really looks. And there are people claiming it looks better than even Forza Horizon 5 lol. im gonna save some people time

I'm on the phone so my post can't be very articulate.
Driveclub have undoubtedly two flaws: little to no SSAO and the worst TAA ever.
The lack of OA makes the environment really flat in some situation were the scene is in full light. With no AO and shadows because the sun fall down vertically, pictures are always really bad, this is mitigated by shadows and other effects in other moments.
TAA is the worst temporal AA ever since it only works when the scene is moving. No movement, no AA. You can notice this at the beginning of every race, no AA before the race start.

Driveclub graphics are too inconsistent to be considered the best. It looks great at rainy or low light conditions, but in a sunny day look flat, especially when the sun is behind the camera and shadows are behind the car and objects. The combination of no ambient occlusion to give some depth and rough AA in clear weather make it looks bad.
Even if it had a patch on PS4 pro it won't look good in a sunny day without adding some effects like AO at least.
Forza horizon 4 also has some average looking moments but it is open world, so it is much easier to find bad pics, it is nicer overall.

Only under certain weather conditions it does look better than Forza 3 and 4 but its doing such bare minimum as racing game then its not surprising.
Forza 3 and 4 were made for Xbox one from ground up and its open world, so not every area looks stellar. Some compromises are made when making open world game.
Forza 5 however is different beast and destroys every racing game in graphics.

FH4 Is definitely better in terms of fun and engagement, graphically its nothing special.
I was surprised on the series X there wasn't more WOW factor. Quite alot of low poly, blurry textures and the lighting is pretty flat.
There are some nice moments in the showcase races though. As for DC I have a soft spot for it, the graphics were certainly impressive back in the day but I mostly liked the moment to moment challenges and leaderboards.

Driveclub is not to blame for your vision issues. Actually DC is one of the best 30fps racers ever.
DC had some sacriffices in asset quality but illumination and lighting makes up for it and makes it one of the more beautiful games out there still to this year.

You are smoking crack. I bought and played some driveclub for first time about two months ago based on reccomendations in this forum. The game doesn't look that good anymore. Maybe in 2014 or whatever but say it's better looking than fh4 is crazy.

I dont deny that the game looks better on heavy weather than on normal daylight.

I think so. And deserved. It did a lot of things that no racer did before and broke with the stagnation the genre was suffering.
It certainly was ahead of what "some minds" are capable to appreciate.
Shame that the network code was butchered and never worked. It could have been a massive hit.

Lol, it looks great in extreme weather but thats about all it has going. I know, playstation exclusive goggles make it tough to see how it actually looks when its not raining, but come on...even gt sport was a better looking game. Its no where even close to the quality of sport, forza 7, or horizon 4.

Also before it came out, the ps4 hadn't yet had its own big exclusive racing game. Xbox had forza 5 and horizon 2. So alot of the fervor around dc was based on this sense of pride within the playstation community. This was finally to be THEIR big ps4 only racing game, a game they could hold over the heads of other people/games in the same genre. And to be fair, it did look pretty good in 2014, and the weather still holds up well. But taken as a whole, its been since out gunned by both gran turismo
And forza. I think saying it looks better than an amazing looking racing game that released 3 years later is disingenuous at best. Cherry picking photo mode screenshots where the weather effects are going and the lighting is in a nice spot does not reflect the game over all.
but, that being said. I dont hate drive club. I played it for over a hundred hours. Its an awesome racing game. But lets be serious, it looks like a game from 7 years ago

Driveclub reminds me of the projector shadow puzzles in RE7; It's a soup of ugly pixels until you align it perfectly and then it kinda looks like something. To be fair though, for its time the game really did have a lot of nice environment styles and lighting. But the comparison is more on the funny side than serious when comparing it to a modern massive open world 4K 60Hz racer.

In my experience forza horizon always looks a lot better in tiny pictures than being played on a 4k set. I maxed out the game at 4k and it looks kinda fake to me, the lighting is a bit flat, models are low poly and weird looking, the image quality is dated and sky would look better with volumetrics. Thats why im kinda wary of horizon 5, it looks good on my phone but when i look at the 4k video on my oled the flaws become apparent.
