Immediate, no. But apparently after the debut promotions any agency with a member in I.O.I can debut them in their own group. Those that haven't debuted with an agency group can return for the next I.O.I promotion round (whenever that is). That's the current understanding, but I've not seen 100% proof and I've also seen people say that YMC will be promoting I.O.I twice as a full group and twice with a sub-unit (but we know YMC is kinda cheap/shady so who knows). In any case Jellyfish has now denied the report.

Well thank goodness for that. Since I.O.I is only going to be around for ten months anyway, it would be a really shitty move if the agencies started pulling their trainees out so soon.

The only way they could make a permanent group is if the show had only independent idols. The comapnies putting idols there are just after some promo and hype to debut later their idols in their own terms.

Other option would be a company signing all the idols after the show ends, which sounds expensive and probably not all the companies would be up to letting go their idols.

Yeah, I honestly find it quite hard to be optimistic about the near-to-mid-term future of a lot of I.O.I's members. God knows what'll happen to Sohye. Starship has just debuted WJSN so I guess we'll see Yeunjung in another five years. Somi's in a similar situation and I don't see JYP debuting a new girl group anytime soon (sorry isuzu!). Presumably M&H, whoever that is, will build a group around Chungha.

I'll be interested to see if Hello Venus' upcoming release can inspire any faith in Fantagio. Pledis has the makings of a pretty great group with Pinky, Nayoung and the others who didn't make the cut, but then Pledis' recent girl group track record is kinda non-existent. Hopefully Seventeen's success can turn the company's fortunes around.

Chaeyeon ought to be just fine? MBK though... And while I've never paid much attention to VIXX, I get the impression that Jellyfish has served them well so Sejeong, Mina and other Nayoung should be OK right?
