Knocked up

No idea. The DVD says unrated and it's 2 hours 13 min. So...I assume extended.

So far, it feels like a lifetime special. I think they're averaging one joke every 20 minutes. I'm just really surprised, I spent all summer hearing about how awesome and hilarious is. :(

wtf, I thought this was supposed to be a comedy.

It is a comedy. It is very funny. You might be one of those poor unfortunate souls inflicted with bad taste in film.

Or are you saying you liked it but didn't think it was very funny? Still, kind of odd, but less odd than saying that this is not pretty awesome.

Some folks didn't like 40 YO Virgin either, and I don't really get where they're coming from.

Well, I also got the last couple Freaks and Geeks DVDs with this netflix shipment. So there will be more Seth Rogen to go around!

i thought it was hilarious and better than superbad.

not that superbad was bad but i just found knocked up to be funnier.

This movie kind of annoys me. I loved Freaks and Geeks because it took serious situations and made them funny and dramatic at the same time. In this sense it's like Woody Allen, which is who Apatow always gets compared to. But I felt like Knocked Up was essentially just a drama but it had some ad-libbed jokes smeared all over it by the actors, especially the supporting ones. Like, the movie never placed its characters in funny situations that they can nonetheless grow from, like Woody Allen does, it just had some superficial jokes on top off a drama, which was a good one.

Okay, Steve Carrell was just on. That was pretty funny. Still, the ratio the speeches about relationships to jokes is at least 5:1

I liked it alot. It was just an enjoyable film. It had its funny moment's but i was never sitting there thinking i need to blow my brains out due to boredom.

I hated the movie. It ran on to long, the main characters were just annoying, and it wasnt very funny at all.

I liked the fact that it was a drama that just happened to be humorous. I didn't laugh out loud once during the whole thing.

When I first saw it, I thought it was great. Now, I can't even remember what the plot was all about.

I can name any number of funny dramas on tv that pull that off better than this movie.

Knocked Up was a comedy until they go to Vegas, a drama after, and kind of funny at the end. It would have been better if they cut the "drama after" part into a 5 minute montage.

Did people want a nonsensical film? That what it seems like with everyone saying it should've been shorter or had very minor dramatic moments.

Anyway, I laughed through the whole film. I liked Superbad more though. The extras on the dvd were very funny as well.

Can't wait for Apatow's next directorial feature.

Horrible. Exploiting potheads for comedy. Part of this new breed of girl movies disguised as guy movies. Like Wedding Crashers. "Oh you have to stop smoking pot, give up your dreams, get a desk job and grow up."

Fuck you Seth Rogan...FUCK YOU!

I would have walked out if I wasn't there with friends.

Superbad is still a MUCH better movie.

I would have walked out if I wasn't with my girlfriend. Annoyingly, after we left, she told me she would have walked out if she wasn't with me.

God damnit! I could have avoided seeing it altogether. Communication problems. :(

40 Year Old Virgin was gold. Knocked up was kind of funny at first but it just ended up being stupid. The "fuck the plant" guy should've never been cast as a lead character.

I loved movies like 40 Year Old virgin, but thought Knocked Up was terrible. It wasn't funny.... it was uncomfortable. I liked Seth Rogan in 40YOV... but he was a serious freakshow in this. Unpleasant.

The chick was cute = only value of this film. Also the married friend had his moments.

I'm going to agree with the OP on this one.

There were a lot of scenes that people said were funny that I thought were just depressing and sad, too. Like the scene where
Paul Rudd explains to his wife that he went to see Spiderman 3 and was playing fantasy baseball and stuff
.

There are a few things I still find awesomely funny, but the rest of it seems like pretty typical self-discovery melodrama but with a sense of wit.

P.S. Superbad also suffered from the "is it a comedy or are you using comedy as a vehicle to tell a coming-of-age story?" issue, but I found that to be a tighter, more interesting film regardless.

i think the movie suffers from the classic gaming age effect...i remember most ppl thought it was hilarious when it first came out but over the months its turned into a terrible movie to the point ppl claim they would have walked out of it.

If there is no relationship between this and Superbad and you guys just randomly bringing it up to compare to this, then I quit.

A lot of the actors are in both. Perhaps even writing, directing, and/or producing.

It was a lame romantic comedy and a weak retarded comedy. If it had focused on being one sub genre or the other, it might've been ok (it was advertised as a retarded comedy), but it didn't and it was mediocre.

I love great romantic comedies, and retarded comedies like Dumb and Dumber, Dodgeball, etc. are fucking hilarious, but Knocked Up was so... flat.

When this came out, it seems people were calling this the greatest comedy ever. Good to see a lot more people on my side of the fence now. The movie was just not that funny.

I haven't even seen it and I know 80% of the plot.

WHAT'S YOUR AVATAR FROM?

I watched it in the theaters after a couple friends drug me to it and I can honestly say that Kung Pow was a better movie than this.
