Kojima: Metal Gear Rising is selling well worldwide

Finally, some positive Konami news for once.

Congrats to Platinum Games. I haven't purchased Revengeance yet but it's definitely in the pipeline.

Have to say, this is my favorite action game since DMC3. I loved Bayonetta, but this just clicks with me a bit more. I guess you can get tired of "Fly Me to the Moon", but you can never get tired of ultra fast buttrock while slicing an enemy's balls in half.

If you care about IQ the cutscenes are higher res on PS3, in game they're both the same visually. DF said the 360 version has a performance advantage but I only noticed a couple frame drops on PS3 in a couple QTEs. Controller preference is likely the biggest factor between the two.

Thank you for this! In game is mainly what I'm concerned about. I can get past the cutscene compression. I'll probably be skipping them anyway after the first play through.

Funny you say that, because this is the best Metal Gear side project that's ever been released. Better than both traditional MGS portable games, better than the ACID games.

Have you played the game?

Nah, waiting for the bargain bin. What I have seen in previews and the demo was enough.

I had it pre-ordered for like a year and a half, but I cancelled the night before because I just got a gaming PC and that is a much better use of my time. H & S is my least favorite genre. I don't like MGS4 Raiden - I liked MGS2 Raiden.

And there is absolutely zero chance it is better than PW (probably PO too), zero chance. Playing it may make me actually like it, but I have seen/played enough to know it is far below PW in my eyes.

I'm glad it is selling well, I'll buy it after I'm done with God of War: Ascencion, hopefully it will be cheaper by then.

Will I enjoy it as a MG fan (Story wise)?

I really enjoyed Peace Walker, but this is easily superior. No question.

Also saying Kojima should stop side projects because you don't like a certain genre is ridiculous.

Platinum should be the ones who work exclusively with Kojima on The Boss' game. It would be kickass to see Platinum working with the most godlike character in the series.

Really really really don't want a Boss game.

She already has all the mystique Big Boss lost. Exploring her character further will only fuck her up too.

Have to disagree, yeah it is absolutely better than PO but doesn't come close to any others in the series besides being better than Metal Gear 1.
Hate to start it but
1. Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake
2. Metal Gear Solid
3. Metal Gear Solid 3 - Peace Walker tie
4. Metal Gear: Ghost Babel
5. Metal Gear Solid 2
6. Metal Gear Solid 4
7. Metal Gear Rising
8. Metal Gear
9. Metal Gear Acid 1,2 tie
10. Metal Gear Portable Ops

Please don't put words in my mouth. I never said anything of the sort.

And hey, if you think an ~5 hour game which stars probably the worst "main" character in the entire Metal Gear series is "easily superior" than PW, more power to you.

Pretty much how I look at it, regardless of who makes it (I find it unfortunate that the MGS titles are entirely devoted to prequels at this point, as I would like to see traditional Metal Gear games focusing on people who aren't The Boss, Big Boss, or Solid Snake set after MGS4 as well).

Why would I when you said this gem:

I'd rather Kojima not waste his time on side projects like this.

Sounds like you're really insulted that you didn't get a traditional Metal Gear starring Snake. Also Peace Walker having Big Boss didn't help the complete drivel of a story that's in Peace Walker.

Chirping and singing Metal Gears along with pinnacle characters such as Hot Coldman and Paz really did the story of Big boss justice. If you can only play games with a protagonist you like, more power to you.

I love the Metal Gear franchise. I put ~5 hours into PW before losing interest.

I've already put at least 12 into Rising. It's, by far, the better game IMO. The combat, Raiden, the supporting cast, and the villains are more entertaining than anything in the franchise since MGS3.

You're sorely mistaken if you think he had no involvement in this game.

Of course he had involvement.

But you're mistaken if you think it was anything significant, especially with Kojima working on the Fox Engine, PW, and MGS5 during Rising's development.

I don't even know why I'm arguing with somebody who's already written off a great game with nary a good reason.

Doesn't matter man, it has Raiden. If you like or enjoy Raiden's character you're just part of the problem, there needs to be more games like Portable Ops, because Raiden is simply so unbearable that anything including him is unplayable.

During the Plant scenario in MGS2 I taped my TV screen and listened to David Hayter interviews just to play the game.

So far in Rising, I've defeated about, oh, 10 million enemies.

And the 10 millionth was every bit as fun as the first.

This... this feels like something more than a GOTY.

Bring on Rising 2.

I'm glad Platinum is getting more notoriety. They might be my favorite developer this gen. I've liked every one of their games that I've played.

Oh, add me to the chorus of people who will happily buy the game again on PC. I need this game on every able device in the house.

Haven't played Rising yet but they are not the same genre so someone who like stealth games will not think the same way you do.
I quite enjoy the traditional Metal Gear titles (even went through the trouble of completing a BBE run in MGS4), but I quite agree that this is one of the best things to happen to the franchise in quite some time. Granted, I do understand that not everyone who likes MGS also likes character action games.

I definitely agree with this, since I was in the same boat.
After not really caring much for MGS4 and PW while being good just not at quite the level I was expecting. Rising definitely brought my hype for the series back up even if it is a action game. I just hope MGS5 for being a Traditional MGS will be amazing and make up for 4.

Seven people on my friend list are playing it right now. Never seen that many people playing the same game simultaneously.
