Kojima: Metal Gear Rising is selling well worldwide

No Gray Fox game thanks. No need to retread the past in a series already tired from doing so with a character that has already been given enough exposition and met his end. Pass on the fan service, and stick with Raiden, a character and setting that can move forward into new territory.

For the next game, I'd be satisfied with them to just refine, balance, and add more of everything. Also a quick unique weapon switch button would be much appreciated.

Another point. I'm really happy to see Raiden getting a shot at his own game and doing well. I was never on the hate Raiden bandwagon way back when. I've always liked the dude.

Plus, no one has killed more Big Boss' and Metal Gears not named Solid Snake. Jack is fucking legit man.

And zoom out the camera so it doesn't go batshit crazy so often.

I really wish the camera was dynamic...like at all. In DmC when you get a lot of enemies it automatically zooms out a bit more, or when you initiate a juggle. Here NOTHING. And sometimes...the camera gets stuck and the right stick doesn't work out all. The fuck is this. Worst of all is that this bullshit is compounded with the abundance of off-screen attacks. My main gripe with the game.

DmC's camera is really overlooked because you didn't have to think about it at all. They did a great job with it.

Congrats, Platinum. You guys needed to break that sales curse eventually. Hopefully people will take you more seriously now and buy Bayonetta 2.

The camera is really my only problem with the game. Sometimes it just spins and resets for seemingly no reason. It's the worst camera Platinum have ever had in one of their games (even Anarchy Reigns' was much better), I don't understand it.

Glad MGR is doing well though, it deserves it. The game is so much fun.

People will need to actually buy the Wii U first.

I think the funny truth of Bayonetta 2 will be that no matter what Platinum can really be blamed for how it sells. Bayonetta 2 is bomba proof because the WiiU already has that covered.

I'm happy to hear this genre is still selling alright. I honestly thought character action games would die off this gen.

Well its weird because in some areas they did code the camera to zoom out more. Why didn't they just code that zooming out into all areas.. >_<.. (Also prologue camera is zoomed out more)..

Execellent news, Im guessing this would probably be platinum's biggest game yet?

Can't wait for...

Metal Gear Rising 2: GRAY FOX

A Gray Fox game would be silly since he is pretty much a crazy killing machine with no really mind of his own until Shadow Moses. Before that he was dead from a mine field. He spent years being reconstructed. He subconsciously seeks out Solid Snake to restore his mind. The more he encounters Snake, more he becomes who he was.

I just don't really see the potential in a game about him. You go on a rampage and kill Dr. Clark yay!

In my mind with the whole AI thing going on in the world, they could possibly insert Frank's AI "Mind" into a new body and use that as the main character for a game. With Platinum, there's a bunch of ways they could make it logical by their standards. Like he kept a backup of all of his memories, experiences, and personality inside of the Fox Blade, and someone decides to bring him back since he was the best Ninja.

I was surprised to find that Kojima wanted to do a Grey Fox game, but it never came to fruition and the developers thought it would be better to stick with Raiden.

I would've loved to see the story between Grey Fox, Clarke and Naomi fleshed out a little bit more - but I am at peace if they were to never return to it again.

I feel you man. The game would be a lot more readable if the camera was further away and pointed a bit down towards Raiden by default. It'd be a lot easier to see what's happening that way. I can understand devs going for a camera close to the character in a survival horror game, because not being able to see behind you adds some tension, but doing that in a beat'em all game just doesn't make any sense. From the BTA games I've played this gen it's the one with the worst camera by far. I don't get how platinum went from Bayonetta's camera which was perfectly acceptable (although not as good as DMC4's for example) to that.

Come on Gray Fox people... Rising is Raiden. PERIOD.

what I want from Rising 2 is the Vanquishesque ability to have on the fly transforming Armor.

For stealth, action, etc...and mostly for quick switching between weapons.

and bigger everything.

And Kamiya gets to take a look at the camera.

PS : that fifty shade of GRAY thing going on is corny as fuck. Don't you crazy as fuck cyborgs everywhere? that's not gonna happen with Gray Fox.

I posted my thoughts/hopes for the next Metal Gear Rising title in the OT. I shall post them again here. Regardless, I will be there Day One for any MGR sequel. I just hope we don't have to wait too long. After experiencing the perfection that is Metal Gear Rising, I need more of it [in any form I can].

My "ideal" sequel" [yes, centered on Raiden/Gray Fox]:

The box art could be Raiden on one side and Gray Fox on the other, with a vertical blade slicing right down the middle [all in incredible Yuji Shinkawa's art, of course].

The tagline could read: "Sometimes, the difference between right and wrong becomes Gray..."

I agree with no Gray Fox game, I want him to stay as I remembered him in Shadow Moses and as an alternate skin for Raiden, but they don't need to delve into his life anymore. Gimme more cuhrazee Raiden.

It's definitely got the feel of "having to make the best of a bad situation," a bit rough in spots (notably the camera) and a bit on the short side, even for the genre (made up for with tons of unlockables and stuff, admittedly).

Still, another great game from Platinum and it's great that it's doing well. Here's hoping they get a shot at a sequel with a little more room to breathe.

I'm still kind of miffed that Rising didn't get lovely art unless you got a LE copy. The boxart is cool, but it's not Metal Gear box art. :c

Yeah, it's really a missed opportunity. But even with the Limited Edition [North American] you didn't get his art, unless you include the box the Plasma Lamp came bundled in. :(

The bonus art book from EBGames/Gamestop was nice, though, that is if you were lucky enough to receive one. But having Yoji Shinkawa's art printed on either the PS3 case [or, even better, the steelbook in the LE] would have been perfect.

I really wish they'd use his art more for official stuff. It's amazing.

Metal Gear Rising sequels need to be named:

Metal Gear Rising Avengeance
Metal Gear Rising With a Vengeance
Metal Gear Rising Revenge: Avenging Revengeance

In the UK we got a steelbook LE with his art, but only from GAME. I got a deal that was £10 (I think? Might be more) cheaper than that though, so I missed out.

Here's hoping for Rising 2 though.

Yeah, I saw pictures of that steelbook. I wish we had gotten something similiar.

I still like the look of our steelbook, but I would have much preferred something similar to the one you guys got.

Like you said, maybe with Metal Gear Rising 2!

KojiGod

Now have him take charge of Silent Hill, and Pro Evolution Soccer, and Suikoden, and Contra...Frogger too

I know it sounds ridiculous, but I think a Silent Hill by Kojima could have potential.

Though he hasn't really done horror before, but I think his eye for presentation could lend itself to Silent Hill.

But hey, it can't be worse than Homecoming or Origins. ¯\_(°_o)_/¯

Anyone who has the game; can you turn on white blood like in the jpn version of the game?

the white blood looks really cool.

Really really really don't want a Boss game.

She already has all the mystique Big Boss lost. Exploring her character further will only fuck her up too.

Whoa.

Here I thought I was the only one

Only point I differ is that I don't even think the Boss is a good character to begin with. I'm just sick of hearing about her after MGS4 and especially fucking Peace Walker

And hey, if you think an ~5 hour game which stars probably the worst "main" character in the entire Metal Gear series is "easily superior" than PW, more power to you.

If you ignore the grind elements PW can probably be beaten in about the same amount of time as Rising. But that's a meaningless distinction to make as the grind elements are central to PW's game design.(Rising has more in common with mainline Metal Gear than Peace Walker in terms of structure)

and I like Raiden over what Big Boss has become

"Honestly I think that personally if we are going to make a sequel to Rising it should feature Frank Yaeger as a main character versus zombies... nano machine-powered zombies. That's what I'm proposing to Platinum and the producer of the project, but they seem to be ignoring me.

"I said I'll even write the story for it, but our story writer said, 'no that's ok, that's ok. Don't worry about it'."

Really puts into perspective where he's coming from trying to make a game starring The Boss

How is Raiden in Rising, hated him in MGS4 and while he had his faults in MGS2 he was also integral to the story and its themes.
