That and the fact that he's a very versatile champion as well. Everything from build order to skill level order to skill usage can change at any given point in time.
Like when you're ganking, sometimes you want to tag someone with Q, slow them with E to force flash, then follow up the Q to secure the kill. Other times you want to Q, E to get damage, then Q to execute (since it does % missing health). Other times you want to lead off with Q to get you into position and then E.
In terms of hitting skill shots, Lee Sin is no harder than any other champion. The difficulty is learning how to combo/use the abilities in a way that allows you to accomplish your specific goal for that given situation.

Thanks for the advice. I think I was following a guide that said to match E first.
Typically I find myself unable to harass since, for example, if I go in at level 2 or 3 against Zed, they outdamage me. Or they wait behind minions so I can't touch the champion without getting snared, stunned, ganked, and/or drawing a full wave of minion agro. And QWE feels like it takes 50% of Fizz's entire mana pool for the first 10+ minutes of the game.
If I get a chance to Fizz again I'll see how W first works. Then E next, or Q next? I also don't like hitting the ult unless I'm right on top of someone and they're slowed, since it's so easy to completely waste it / have it dodged.
Still not as good as AS Lulu top against Wukong, but support Lulu is acceptable too.

you should max E first on fizz
maxing W first gives you an extra 10 damage over 3s (doesnt stack, so basically it increases your dps by 3) and 5 extra damage on auto attack on the active, whose cd isnt even reduced per rank.
Even leveling Q gives you more - 30 damage per rank + reduce the cd by 1 per rank.
But that E, oh god. +50 damage, -2s cd each rank. down to 8s CD at rank 5. why wouldnt you max the skill that makes fizz a massive dickhead? this skill also allows you to waveclear, so you dont have to stand at the tower awkwardly auto attacking minions.
Every LCS game and the Taiwan finals, OGN had fizz max e.

I know some of you are no nonsense, but I got a few ideas. Like, does spellvamp work on Sona's W? Anyone got an idea of maybe a hybrid Sona build? I'm thinking starting AD, and then transitioning to AP/On-hit. Idk just thinking of some fun blind pick builds to try out (although I'm still adamant about AP Sona being legit). I've also been thinking about bruiser Ashe for awhile now.

Well this makes me sad, since I've been maxing E first and failing horribly as Fizz, especially with the 100+ mana cost.
Maybe the guide will help, thanks.I just tried AP Corki mid. I had 417 CS, literally OVER TWICE the damage to enemy champions of anyone else on the team, and went 12/2/11. Sadly it wasn't enough since the game went on too long and people would just suicide alone, so when I died the second time the game ended.
I think it could work in some cases though.
I really wanted to try lich bane instead of a defensive item (hourglass in my case which did me no good), but I feel like if I got in range for the lich bane proc I would run a good chance of being dead since by the time I got it, it would be the 4th or 5th item.

I saw an infographic somewhere that indicated it takes approximately twice as many games this season to reach the equivalent of a given Elo from last season. That test with the pros sounds interesting, but in fairness they are going to be the outliers.
Anyone remember that? It was probably on Reddit, but I've made the big sacrifice and stopped visiting the LoL subreddit for a while.
