Leaked AC Unity gameplay videos up in the wild (edit: re-uploaded)

Found more gameplay, shows a Paris story mission, much faster combat kills, lockpicking, and that they brought back the zoomed in camera mode from AC3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5l6BQiGleU

Also found this one which shows off the interior of Notre Dame+some villa exploration.

This is apparently something you can do.

This week is gonna be so long.

Dat animation was done by lazy developers instead of fixing the pop in !

I think I'm done with leaks, I don't want to spoil myself anymore, the game seems fun and Paris is pretty well designed from what we've seen, and hopefully the game might be available by the end of the week in Europe.

Given the, er, level of discourse involving this game so far between the PC performance thread and the OT someone is going to end up in jail.
If this thread is any indication of how ACU will be received on GAF, we're going to need to go to the mattresses.

Michael: How do you see things shaping up for ACU on GAF?
Clemenza: It's gonna be pretty goddam bad. Probably all the other raging parity gangs and those who suffer from chronic blurred vision will line up against us. That's all right. These things gotta happen every five years or so, ten years, even though Ubisoft only needs one to crank out another game. Helps to get rid of the bad blood and drive-by shit posters. You know, you gotta stop these meltdowns at the beginning. Like they should have stopped the ps3 version of Bayonetta or RROD. They should have never allowed for that get away with that, they was just asking for trouble.

The person recording the video sometimes stops and pan around like wanting to say:"You all, just watch how good this looks!" and I would love to belive him but all I see is a very blurry mess, due to compressing and recording in 720p and then one more time compressing on YouTube.

At this point it's better to not show videos at all then to show low res and compressed footage.

Also, in general, gamepublishers should start talking with YouTube, Google or whatever about a new and better videocodec/compression method for videos.

Well we recently got 60fps support, maybe down the line there'll be less video compression.

I'm really not feeling this game. I've seen a bunch of videos and have played it but it just seems boring to me.. Need to decide if I'm going to get it or not.

Well you go outside of Paris, it has always been that long in the previous AC with multiple cities/locations. Paris is like 95% of the game though, you won't see many loading times like that imho.

Both consoles have a lot of memory and HDDs. Those load times are complete garbage. "Has always been like that" does not count.

Sunset overdrive uses the power to create a stunning looking world, and great gameplay systems, and there can also be huge amounts of enemies interacting late game

Infamous second son also looks and plays great

Unity looks weak in comparison

Infamous was boring as hell, small city with nothing to do in it but it looked good I'll give you that. SO is 900P/30 fps with drops and wouldn't call it stunning. So don't really get your point judging an unplayed game from YouTube videos. You're better off saying AC games are not your cup of tea.

And? There is much more content too. And if it helps reducing the pop in or whatever, I guess nobody can complain.

What's the average game of this scale's average load time? Also...does that world offer seamless interiors and underground along with it? Seems like a small price to pay for the payoff after.

Lack of ambiental music is appalling, loading times & lod pop-in are atrocious. Parity debate saved me from wasting 140 euros on a collector's edition but this bullshit right here saved me lot of money from supporting this piece of crap at launch.

I'm sure sales will be good enough for another installment in the series, general audience loves the mediocrity. Wrap shit in golden foil and sell as candy, doesn't matter still successfull.

We're gonna scrutinize every technical detail of the game and act like it's a direct affront to decency around the world, now.

That load time is pretty brutal, but it's something you see rarely... y'all ever played PS2 GTAs? Or God forbid, fucking Driver 2?

Yeah the hardware is better now, but so is the amount of data you have to load.

It's honestly baffling that people are acting like AC isn't one of the best in class open world action series. Paris looks like a massive, gorgeous movie and is clearly a visual improvement over Black Flag. Maybe I'm a sucker for the sunwashed romanticized history they present, but it's never been more beautifully imagined. The blur is disappointing, but my goodness it is a visual pleasure anyway.

As for complaints of it being old, or boring, or bad, or having a history of troubled combat and stealth, I suppose I fall in the masses that keep this AAA going annually because I've always enjoyed new histories and leaps each holiday. I'm glad to hear they've attempted to revamp combat, climbing and descent, and stealth, along with bringing back the target based main story of the first AC and its sandbox assassinations. The level of scrutiny this game is getting makes me simply want to ask: who did it better than AC? What is the shining example that beats their open world animations and style? For me, I haven't seen a usurper and am unsurprised by the annual success and critical praise for the series.

Yeah they lack of ambient music is bad but this could be used for so many other games (especially on consoles), just recently COD : AW suffers from this.

Sounds like you came here to drop another shitpost just to keep the hate train going.

I agree.
It works in some games, but usually it's better to have ambient music.

At least now on ps4 you can have custom music through usb, so you can play Home in Florence or something..

There's a place for world ambiance alone but not only do I think the sound design isn't strong enough for that here, but touches of music is always great in general IMO, and is always something this series has done well.

Indeed.
And despite their sound design being great, i wouldn't mind ambient music in GTA, too.
That radio system just isn't good enough for me.

I think Red Dead Redemption proved this, whereas GTAV pussyfooted around the idea.

They just didn't take time to fix them.

I miss the Ezio@AC2/ACB outfit, the ACR one is the worst imo, especially in other games :(

Wuh. The one in Unity/3/4 is the ACB outfit. Ezio had a different outfit in every game. The revelations outfit was only ever available in Revelations, as far as I know.

*sigh

I'll wait until it's in the bargain bucket.

First AC I've not pre-ordered.
Uh you only had to play about 25 mins (not an exaggeration) of the modern setting. I still like the corporate conspiracy and they said they are going back to more Templar info this time, rather than lingering vaguely on the clues of Abstergo. Hopefully we'll get more about their views for peace and their espionage tactics again, but I spent hours in ACIV's present day because I find it pretty chilling in atmosphere. I didn't care for the meta Ubisoft thing much though.

Wish they had delayed this.
They did already. Let's hope there's a good day one patch, but so far it's getting good feedback and looks great. I don't think Ubisoft is in a situation where they'll release something controversially broken like BF4 or Driveclub.

Looks like an Assassins creed game to me. Will be picking it up as I'm really interested to see what they do with the setting, but they're all basically one big game at this point

Conflicted, but still buying it.

- Combat looks incredibly boring (but maybe that's just because while watching the videos i only wanted the player to walk around some more and show me Paris)
- Pop up is atrocious. I really can't see how making such huge crowds was necessary, given the console obviously can't handle that many npc's onscreen.
- No proper day/night cycle bothers me.
- GTAV coming out the week after this..

on the other hand

Paris looks amazing. And i just want to walk around those buidings. I hope they don't end up looking too samey though, which looks like it might be the case actually.

I was speaking more on the graphics.

Horrible LoD and overall just unpolished look for what had potential to be a very beautiful, solid looking title.

That loading screen wouldn't be so bad if you could still run around in it.
Yeah, I'm curious why they removed it. Seemed so low in demand for performance. I'm kind of curious what exactly is really making it so the engine got so tough for them going new gen only after Black Flag. Just NPCs? Or that plus animations, scale, lighting, seamless indoor/outdoor buildings, more data in general?

Agreed. I think the loading times were probably just as bad in previous titles but the interactive-ness of the previous ones alleviated it somewhat.

I'd peg it down to the lighting. It's a whole lot of GB to sift through. Then again I'm no techy so just throwing that out there with zero knowledge haha.

This week is gonna be so long.

All the assassin outfits look awesomely rendered. Shay's templar uniform is really cool, but as always, Ezio's brotherhood outfit is still GOAT.

GTAV stings because they have the perfect composers with the perfect city and hundreds of hours of music but don't use it enough :(

Youch. Looking like a Steam sale to me with that pop-in and praying that I can get rid of most of it. I don't care if I have to turn that gorgeous lighting all the way to minimum, I can't stand that pop-in.

Yep that's AC all right. What's the point of having a big open world when 90% of the environment looks exactly the same. If Ubisoft spent less time painstakingly recreating every alleyway and building from the time period and trying to cram as many NPC's on screen as possible maybe they could do something about the boring combat and mission structure, and the nonexistent stealth mechanics.

That's my biggest issue to be honest. The pop in and blur is bad but the real issue is each rooftop looks exactly the same. I'm sure it is accurate to the time period but the settling, whilst vast, looks utter unremarkable. What's the point in having hundreds of buildings to explore if they all look exactly the same?

I would much prefer a city half the size with double the variety.

yep.
The way they built the city in those "making of" videos doesn't give me much hope.
Of course you can't expect everything to be hand placed in such a huge game world, but when you see artists building entire districts in an editor with a few mouse clicks, i get the feeling Paris is going to be a lot of filler generic buildings between a few landmarks.

THE ANIMATIONS ARE BOSS. Please someone tell me the open world game that has cloth and climbing as stellar fluid looking as Unity. Please, because I lust for it and if there's better, I need that game too.

There is and it's called Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor and no-one messes up with Talion!

Is this in the game? where you see your target like this or was that just for presentation purpose?

I beat it and that's not true. Waaay less animations in that game and way less nuance. Plus there's just a lot less climbing maneuvers like certain side jumps and drops. Good game though.

Lets not forget that Modor's biggest strength is it's combat! Brutal, fast and satisfying, something which is severely lacking in Assassin's Creed games since it's inception!
