Leaked AC Unity gameplay videos up in the wild (edit: re-uploaded)

So what's reason why there aren't shadows underneath the guy in this screen?

Same leaker as yesterday

I remember seeing that video about how "Ubi were copying and pasting" a lot of their assets which may have been faster but my god does it show. I dont know but it just doesn't look like somewhere you want to explore and seems a bit bland aesthetically.

Won't pass full judgement until I get to play it myself, but man this has to have some of the blurriest IQ of any next (current) gen game so far.

Looks like the early days of FXAA right after it was developed, adding it to your game on PC made the IQ soooo blurry.

Its funny that every gen people want devs to use the extra power to increase NPC count, number of enterable buildings and number of buildings in general.

We get a game that focuses on these things and also improves lighting, textures and overall detail yet people still complain, you people are dumb.

They should ensure they have the basics such as 1080p, locked frame rate and no pop-in before worrying about NPC count.

I can't find any good pictures of France in the 19th century, but are you sure it didn't look like that?

Calm down.

From another thread:

Haha!

Maybe you should calm down, because it went over your head ;)

And if you will not be able to see said musket you would say it is immersion breaking that he is hiding everything under his coat.

No matter what they do you will keep on shitting on this game. People like you can never get pleased.

Well it's the French Revolution, carrying heads on pikes was acceptable. Was a very violent time period.

Did you cancel your preorder yet?

The other guy got it. Don't get dragged in so deep that you lose your sense of humor, or your sarcasm detector melts. :)

Story of my life. But as for the matter at hand I AM CALM! No but seriously I wasn't agitated or anything. I was just wrong and thought I was misunderstood and hadn't seen the posts that the joke was referring to. :D

Damn.

This went from looking like a beautiful showcase of a game, to one of the uglier titles I have seen in a while.

Appalling.

Canceling my preorder. (Seriously.)

I took no offense to Lime's comment about the musket lol.
Find a new video that shows off the Cafe Theatre. Which is basically Arno's version of Ezio's villa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1S7-Lr9gJ-8

I watched a couple of streams on my PS4 and it definitely looks good. 900p but at least, the framerate seems like a solid 30fps!

Is that how game development works then? You push the features so high that it breaks the game and then blame the fans for demanding that tech?

I'm sorry but please dial that condescending attitude down and take a step backwards before making such disparaging remarks. There is such a thing as realistic expectations. The PS4/X1 is more than capable of delivering those features without overdoing it.

But that's what Paris looks like. The architecture, street layouts and colour scheme (subject to lighting obviously) are period accurate - you frequently find European cities of the era featured lots of 'copy/paste' architecture with similarly if not identically designed buildings everywhere.

Sunset overdrive uses the power to create a stunning looking world, and great gameplay systems, and there can also be huge amounts of enemies interacting late game

Infamous second son also looks and plays great

Unity looks weak in comparison

OK, having watched the YT I'll be getting this on the PS4.

I like the series, and while I'm not *happy* about the resolution business, Paris looks amazing (that 1:1 scale makes a huge difference) and I always get a lot of enjoyment and longevity out of a Creed title.

I should probably be banned from Gaf for holding this opinion, I fully realise this.

People aren't mad that you will buy something and like it, it's on the developers and their PR nightmare.

I think the problem is they look identical though, I find it hard to believe the real place was so drab looking and colorless. Surely there would be things like clothing drying and garbage/trash everywhere, think TLOU though less extreme

IGN making-of 1 or 2 IIRC.

Don't forget the screenshot was taken from a viewpoint cutscene/cinematic, so it doesn't represent what you will mostly see : Arno's viewpoint from foot or from one of the building. I guess you'll see more differences from there and it won't just look like SimCity in the revolutionary France.

Watched the 11-minute gameplay footage in the OP and I'm not sure what to think.

I mean, on one hand, it's definitely AC. You can tell the moment that the guy starts slinking around and tracking down the next icon that's on his map screen - the game-play 'flow' has more or less stayed the same since AC:IIB, and love it or hate it, that's the formula they're still sticking with.

It's disappointing in the sense that the previews they've put out thus far have done a fantastic job in convincing us that it was otherwise, to some respect. Things seem just as clunky as they've always been; the crowds aren't as thick as some of the Developer Diaries are suggesting they would be, as the footage clearly shows areas that are rather sparse in NPCs (at times, even more sparse than they would have been in older titles!). Re-working of the engine (or lack thereof) also hasn't removed some of the jank that still makes the games hard to play for extended periods, where you start to notice the flaws.

Likely going to wait for this one to go down in price, especially since it's not like there aren't better and similar games out there on the market right now. Very curious to see how this will do, sales-wise, especially when compared to Rogue (which arguably has seen less PR, though not necessarily due to lack of trying on the part of the team headlining that one).

If nothing else, at least the PR team seems well aware of what fans complain of regarding the latest titles and seem quite capable in spinning the next game to be whatever it needs to be to pique people's interests...

I thought Connor's outfit has been the best so far in the series. Absolutely love it. Don't even have to color it.

The game wasn't a smooth experience when i tried it, the game did stutter. (don't remember if it was PS4 or Xbox One)

This franchise needs a reboot. Every AC game feels and plays the same (just different characters and setting).

I always ask this...why should a game in a series play differently from previous games in the same series? If it needs to play differently then just create another IP.

I'd hate to pick up AC and it plays like a completely different game. It wouldn't be AC anymore.

They could make it just like AC, except with good combat.

No they don't. AC3/4 does not feel or play the same as the Ezio trilogy, and ACU does not play or feel the same as AC3/4 according to the impressions of people who played it.

Heck, the reason I wasn't a big fan of III and IV was because of the changes, like too much focus on sailing and seas.

At least Unity seems to be back to the II kind of games and focus on exploration on the cities and drama with "historic figures".

Is it just me or do the fight animations feel like they are playing at half speed ? the the sword trails make it seem even slower ?

I was pretty hyped for ac, but this has turned me back to a wait and see. Not just technical issues (popin), but just overall it looks bland. I was expecting big changes to the formula, but even the fighting looks the same.

Also not a huge fan of the time period but i can live with that if the gameplay is up to scratch.
