Two oh shits moment for me in the first season was adult Aang following Yakone down the street and then going into the Avatar State to break the blood-bending and take Yakone's bending and the other oh shit moment was when Tarrlock went to blood-bend Amon and he struggled for a split second just to walk right up to Tarrlock and take away his bending.

Those two scenes was worth the price of admission right there.

The second season didn't have an oh shit moment like that. (except for the cameo by Iroh which has more to do with nostalgia than the plot) It did however, had an extremely satisfying four episode finale and of course I loved the two part Wan origin story.

I'm hoping season 3 has more moments like those two I described above for season 1.

Actually he's the only confirmed Moroccan guy in avatar, here's a picture of the guy he was designed after.

So technically black.

I totally forgot that he was based on Sifu Kisu.

Now that I look at it, Piandao definitely looks different from some of the other Fire Nation characters.

Piandao not only has darker skin but also has green eyes. Avatar does have this vague rule where certain eye colors are common depending on the nation. (It applies in most cases but there are a few exceptions.) Fire Nation = amber, water tribe = blue, earth kingdom = green, air nomads = grey/hazel.

This might mean that Piandao might actually have Earth Kingdom ancestry despite being born in the Fire Nation.

The Earth Kingdom was one of the few places where we actually saw North African cultural influence with the sandbenders. The sandbenders' clothing/appearance/culture are loosely based on the Tuareg people and one of the countries that they are native to is, indeed, Morocco.

I might be suffering from lack of sleep but it makes too much sense to just be a coincidence.

It does, but I've known people to literally get angry at the thought that any avatar character might be black, it was a bit insane.

It's because they're racist.

But the second season was just all over the place, and the final confrontation took bizzare to a whole other level. Also, the characters were terrible aside from Verick (so).

Oh I could definitely agree with this! Varrick was the best haha, stole the episodes for me.

Yeah that was fantastic. I do think the first season had a fantastic premise, I'll give it that, too. For me, the entire episode when
Lin lost her bending
was probably the highlight of the season. Cinematically, it really was amazing. The shots where she was fighting on top of the pro-bending arena blew me away.

Finally, seems so long ago since last season was on. Its fun to watch, but I don't like it as much as I did Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Two thoughts:

1) Yay! LoK is back! I've made peace with the fact of how terrible parts of Book 2 are, and am willing to chalk it up to a number potential causes. I'm actually really excited for Book 3! All the trailers (and buzz from the leaks) seem very promising. Maybe I'm setting myself up for disappointment again, but I want this show to be good again (I loved Book 1).

2) Nick is the worst. We could debate about the quality of LoK till the end of days, but we can all agree that Nick has mishandled almost every aspect of this series (post Book 1). Friday night airings, changing time slots, leaking crap left and right, dumping the Book 2 finale online, and now the way they've handle Book 3's rollout. It's almost like they want this show to fail so the can clear more valuable air time for the Sponge or one of their other terrific programs, such as Sanjay and Craig or Breadwinners.

My apologies. I didn't realize it was low quality. I'll update my post with the new link. But here it is in 720p. I really think any fan should give it a watch though. It's awesome!

I love the hamburger bender that they based Toph on.

That has to be some sort of glandular problem right? =p

Avatar was Brian and Mike's first show. That's a high bar to start off on isn't it? And the music guys are in their mid-late 20s? Jesus this show had a TON of super talented people.

Same actually, got two episodes in and just. blegh

My brother, who introduced me to ATLA and watched all of Korra Book 1 with me, bailed out on Book 2 after the two-part premiere. Having seen the entire season, I think he had the right idea. :P

This video single handily vindicated Book 2 for me.
Contains Book 2 spoilers

I'm in tears. :lol

Hamburger bender, oh god. xP

It is pretty amazing how many people they got to work on the show. The Art of the Animated Series elaborates on a lot of the stuff shown in the documentary, although it's really cool to be able to actually see and here the people who made the show. Mike and Bryan paid their dues in the animation industry but they rose to the level of showrunners pretty damn fast. I think that's a testament to the quality of their work (whatever we may think about TLOK).

I guess I will finish this fight but yea Book 2 left me with as much enthusiasm over the rest of the series as Nickelodeon has.

nick's handling of this series has been awful, but let's not drag sanjay and craig into this.

But it's still supposed to be Aang. That is not Aang.

Dude, his voice hadn't even cracked yet when he saved the world. And his 10 seconds of dialogue isn't a very good indicator of his adult personality/character because even 12 year old Aang had moments where he was short tempered and snapped at the people around him, and yet we still love his goofy ass.

We simply don't have enough exposure to his adult life in order to say whether or not that is still the happy go lucky kid that ended the hundred years war.

Agreed. So maybe they should've shown more of that. I mean, he's was a relatively big part of that story.

And his beard is weird.

I think we're just used to seeing Aang as the bald headed kid who had barely hit puberty before the show was over. Although, we know that he his hair could grow by evidence of Season three, but he just chose to cut it all that time. By that, I don't see why he shouldn't have a beard. I mean Tenzin is his son, and he is rocking a beard too.

It's not the fact that he has a beard. It's the beard itself. Yuck.

Was re-watching Korra Book 2 with my family (to catch them up for Book 3), my god it hasn't aged well at all. I never realized how poor the animation was, and how stiff the dialogue can be at times (especially the stuff with Mako where he gets mad). WTF. Yeah yeah, I know the quality of production prior to Beginnings was up and down since it wasn't Studio Mir doing the first half. But it still took me back watching it again in HD. And it doesn't excuse the odd pacing/delivery in the dialogue.

But the biggest offender is how bad the facial expressions are (which again, lack of Mir). But lol.

"Korra scribe Tim Hendrick is writing the story, which takes place between The Legend of Korra’s second and third seasons."

Hmm so i'm assuming this game will probably be dealing with that whole little of issue of the spirit portals always been open now
Fighting evil spirits and what not

Curious to see what the game looks like and what sort of art style they end up with

Korra looks pretty good but some of the other models look kinda rough. Though I'm glad they chose the outfit she wore at the beginning of Book 2. Looks much better than her normal one.

Barely looks like a PS2 game.

I'm afraid this is just a quick cash-in for Platinium so they can finance more interesting titles.

Jet Set Radio visuals. Quick dev time so hopefully they're using an established (Bayonetta!) engine.

Please be good.

Not like visuals are the strongest of Platinum's suits.
MGR Revengeance looks like shit, but it's a lot of fun to play.
