Everything about this game business seems crazy.

At first, only saw the announcement for 3DS game. Cool, I thought, it'll probably be crap, but cool to see Nick trying something with this franchise. Then I came on GAF and saw the massive thread about the Platinum game (and what a glorious thread it is, even with all the LoK "hate"). Don't know how to feel, especially since I've never played a Platinum game. This will likely be crap as well, but hey, I'd love to be wrong.

These last few weeks have been crazy for LoK.

Cmon ya'll, playing as Asami would be like the joker section in Me2. Let her have a flying/racing mini game, like those Bayo segue sections P* love.

Also I never got why people are so against black people being in avatar, it's a fictional world, what if Korra us black, and what of Aang is white? Sure it's based someone on again mythology, bit it's a full world with multiple races in each nation, does it really matter?
I think it has to do with how under-represented Asians are in media, in general. It's a little annoying to finally see an Asian-like character and then have people just say the character is black or white. It's like they're writing off the existence of Asians.

I would be shocked if they brought that shit back. You really think they will sink that low? I know the show can get awful, and the writing is beyond incompetent at times. But damn. I don't think I could facepalm hard enough if they wasted our time with 2 seasons with a forced romance that never made sense or had chemistry, only to drag it back on for a third after ending it. LMAO

Poor guy! You are so naive.

Yeah Platinum work great under a tight budget and tighter deadline (just look at the dev time for Rising).

These guys handling Korra? Man this could do wonders to stir up more hype for the series. Plus it might actually be really, really good.

DMC style switching between the 4 elements to keep that combo up!

I gotta say, while I don't like the Book Fire finale as much as many fans of ATLA (I still like it on the balance), it's impressive that I can look back on it and still discuss it with the same intensity as I felt when it aired what, six years ago?

Man, I love that show.

All I feel is sinking despair when I think of Book Air finale, and "lol, at least the fight animation was top notch" when I think of Spirit's.

Book Earth's finale would be literally perfect if that weak "love or responsibility" ultimatum wasn't thrown in there.

Book Water's is all the way around solid. Not as high of highs as Earth, but a more consistent baseline.

I guess so? I'm pretty harsh on this show, and have very low expectations. I've been on the money with 99% of where the writing is going. But I really really thought that they were going to end that romance.

"thought"?

Makorra is back? Well at least this means there still a chance for bolin.

I see the point, but I never considered many of the characters black, mainly some random earth benders and sokka's master. Plus most if these people believed all Airbender were white though, so I'm going to go with the guy who said they were racist.

This is true. And when there is an Asian character featured they're usually Chinese, Japanese or Korean.

I'm half-Malaysian and Southeast Asians get absolutely zero representation. It sucks so bad.

I haven't been around this thread before, but I'm surprised so many people disliked Korra in Season 1 (Season 2 dislike does not surprise me).

First, I dug the attitude of early Season 1. Then she comes into contact with her first real challenge (Amon) and it scares the fuck out of her. She has nightmares. All this while she isn't sure if she can live up to being the Avatar and what that means when it comes to what the people of the world expect from her. Dealing with the darkness of the blood-bending arc (something that was thus far under-utilized in the Avatar lore, if you ask me). I mean, this was compelling stuff to me. The only issue I had is what eventually ballooned into a full clusterfuck, which was the incompetently-written romance stuff. But I'm really hoping that the conversations between Mako-Korra and Bolin-Eska represented a creator-audience conversation as well. "Look, this shit isn't working. We recognize that and we'll be moving on."

I'm all on board for Season 3. At the very least Season 2 - with Beginnings and Korra's decision to leave the portals open - created the basis for interesting plot tension for the rest of the series.

Season 1 totally deserved to be a multi season arc. With Amon going down in S2 and S3 dealing with the fact that defeating the bad guy won't solve all your problems as inequality will still remain.

Season 1 was really good but it's wasted potential all the same. Goddamn you Nickelodeon.

I barely remember anything of S1 anymore but most of what I do recall was Korra being an impulsive shitheel who didn't listen to people who objectively knew more than her about certain things.

Most people didn't have too much of an issue with Korra's attitude in book 1 until about... the end of episode 8 (where she confronts Tarrlok alone to have her friends released from jail and is ultimately captured).

It's one of her character traits to behave this way, but seeing someone do the bullheaded thing at every opportunity became obnoxious. She performed like this until the bitter end, putting her very being at risk, and it finally - by the Grace of God - managed to work.

While it's admirable, even at the base level, to see Korra immediately thrust herself into harm's way with overbearing confidence in her ability to succeed and save the city from Tarrlok and/or Amon's oppressive regimes (and absolutely no consideration for the fact that yes, she could potentially fail and have the world left wanting for an Avatar), it was just plain old exhausting to watch past 10 weeks.

This is why movies like The Raid make Indos like me happy. :)

Lol I guess so. I seem to be the only one that thought that shit was dead. But I guess the writing is so bad on this show, it will come back to rear its ugly head. Honestly, at this point I don't give a fuck.

I just want Bolin and Asami to be happy. Fuck Korra and Mako. :p

Well, Korra kind of was an asshole early on. Tenzin was wrong for being so stubborn with his old ways. But I hated how Korra could be a dick, and then everyone else say it was their fault, and for her not to worry. Korra blowing up Tenzin's ancient air training device was totally an asshole move. But it was okay, because Tenzin apologized and Korra was allowed to skate on by.

I think that is was made me annoyed by her. Everyone kept taking the blame away from her (I guess that's not her fault). To be fair, I think this is WHY Korra is an asshole. They never should have sheltered her like they did. So to be clear, I'm not saying it doesn't make sense. It does. But it's not very pleasant. Personally though, it wasn't until the back half of Book 1 she started getting annoying. Book 2..well.....

Look, there is no excuse for Korra being an abusive GF. I don't care how much they want to blame Tenzin and her dad for sheltering her, she was just a straight up asshole.

Don't give up. I believe in your cause, Azula.

lol to be clear, I would love Korra to have no romance at all. The writers don't know how to do it, it always comes off cringe. But if I have to go through 2 more seasons of Mako and Korra someone choke me out.

I doubt even Platinum games can make Korra interesting.

Also kinda seems like a waste of them, Activision should probably just have Beenox or High Moon make it.

What? I'm confused.

Do you have a source that says Mako x Korra will come back?

No no. I'm just saying that since everyone thinks im crazy or naive for assuming it was over. :P I'm not being serious.

Man a series where Korra was the antagonist would be awesome

Would totally be okay if this story was about the worst Avatar to ever exist. Or maybe they will kill Korra at the end, and a new age without the Avatar exists.

Don't scare me like that!

I sincerely think the Mako and Korra romance is dead too so we shall fall together, comrade.

Thx, I'll give it a try & see how it goes.

Just keep in mind season one was supposed to be a one off standalone mini series. Nick greenlit further seasons later, after it was for finished. That may help. Personally I thought season one was really fucking good until the last ten minutes.

Season 2 is a clusterfuck with 2 good episodes in the middle.

They are too busy making CoD maps.

They can make her interesting by giving her DMC4 Dante's style switching. Then, if we're lucky (we're not), they will have some of the combos you can do in the game in the Book 4 fights.

Anyway, one way I reconcile with the clusterfuck romance nonsense is by considering the amount of stress all these characters are under. People make dumb decisions when they're exhausted and constantly in peril.

Huh? There was a huge controversy within the fandom at the casting of white actors in the live-action movie. What segment of ATLA fans (or anyone, for that matter) have ever claimed that Airbenders were white?

They are out there, trust me. The film's casting had its defenders (lol).

Apparently Aang just had to be white because his eyes were too big and round for him to be Tibetan.
Forget the fact that Aang is a Chinese name and his dress and culture are near identical to those of Tibetan Buddhist monks.

I won't claim this is the mainstream opinion, but I have heard more than one person on Reddit say that airbenders are "genetically white." They're out there.

It's coming back all ready? Can't say I'm really all that excited. I still need to watch the ending to book 2.

And I really don't care about this game. Those screens look pretty ugly.

I guess so. Maybe they're the same as the "all anime characters are white" people. *shrug*

She sucked in Book 2 until she lost/regained her memory, you won't get any argument from me on that. There's a gaping chasm between Korra cheating to win the air bending race in her first S2 scene (which I found really funny, as I think it was supposed to be) and the Beginnings story where I wish they had done something completely different. Even afterwards, her character had lost the humor that had won me over in Season 1....but that's pretty understandable given the escalation occurring at the time.

As for Book 1, yeah she could be a dick, but this was balanced with enough heartfelt moments that I was by no means, as it was put, "exhausted" by her character. When she did something out of line in Season 1 it betrayed a deeper insecurity, and I think Tenzin was right to "shelter" her by not blowing up at her blow ups.

But I think it just comes down to whether you find Korra's internal struggles in Season 1 interesting. If you do, then you can easily forgive her more stubborn foolhardy moments because, as you said, it makes sense for the character.

i don't get Nick HD for some reason so my DVR only ends up recording it on SD of boring SD Nick.

What's the streaming situation with this show?
Can I get it in HD day of?

Outside of fans being mad about M Night changing race in the movie adaptation, I had no idea people actually gave a shit about that in the series. I mean, I personally see it as a positive if anything. I love how diverse each nation is. It was really cool. But to actually take issue with it, and argue over what race is which...

I mean lol

Not talking about anyone on here.
