I don't think Su is working for Zaheer or anything like that, but I do think she has a secret. And Aiwei being the mole would mean that he knows her secrets which can come back to bite her. I'm guessing she's been trying to make her city independent from the Earth Kingdom. She already talked about how much she hates the queen and it always seemed fishy to me she would have a city in peacetime that would completely lock down at night (or in case of an Earth Kingdom attack, maybe?).

Her trusting nature of hiring ex criminals also makes sense how someone like aiwei snuck in. But yeah I wouldn't be surprised if she was up to criminal activity to make money still. But I don't think she's working for Zaheer.

Great episode once again. Really sucks that not only are they moving it to online only but they're also only giving us 1 episode per week -_- Nick, why?

Well at least it's confirmed Book 3 will be getting a BD release so I'll end up buying it then. Hope Book 4 does as well

This truly felt like Avatar episode…. Great episode, Too bad its not on tv.

Hopefully we still get season 4? Are we still getting season 4?

Season 1 was ok/good, Season 2 was poor/ok… Now Season 3 is great so far…. :)

Re-watched it. Really really great episode. It was a good mix of action/'tension and the overall pacing was really nice. Honestly, I don't really see why people are assuming Su is with Zaheer. If she was really working for Zaheer (and was thus working with Aiwei) as well, then there would have been a much easier way to get Korra to Zaheer then what they did. And it would make no sense for Su to come up with the plan to drop from the roof with Lin. Say what you will about her selfish nature, but she wouldn't put her own sister's life in danger (unless she was completely evil). And there is nothing to suggest that in her character. So they would have to really do some exposition to show us how she went from being a little brat, to being downright evil.

And really, it would have just made sense to not say anything at all, and hope they escape (as they had the upper hand in the battle at that moment). Also, none of her actions were really suspicious prior to the final scene. The only thing I could see people saying, is her dropping when Mako said they weren't ready. But I'm fairly certain that was just a mistake, since again, I don't see why she would put Lin's life in danger (and herself), because honestly, if combustion shot Lin it would also hit her (blast radius).

Now, her wanting Korra to go after Aiwei...is interesting. On the one hand, I question why she's so obsessed with getting him back. Sure he lied to her and wronged her, but why risk the Avatar's life for that? This is where I can agree with some folks that MAYBE she's doing something illegal to make her money, and he has that info. So she's trying to protect herself. But then again, her allowing Korra to do what she feels is best, is also something her character would do (since she was always like that growing up).

That is why I'm torn on the scene. Because it can look suspicious, but it also seems totally in character to me.

I will fuckin roll my eyes right out my fuckin head if they make Su evil/working for Zaheer. Just because they have legitimately done a variation of this plot every season, and it's beyond predictable and stupid. And I think the whole plot with Lin would greatly suffer if this is the direction they are going with her.

Yeah, just hearing about the fate of the remainder of season 3.

That's....disappointing. And this is the follow up to The Last Airbender, Christ.

her plot with Lin is already compromised because Suyin just lied to Lin's face and enabled Korra to leave Lin's protection

there is absolutely no turning back from that. it will be a HUGE misstep if they dont appropriately address that after they've made such a big deal out of Lin's trust issues with Su.

I agree with you there. But there is a big difference between falling back on old ways, and being full out evil/corrupt. I can buy Su still being a criminal, but not being with Zaheer. Plot is too repetitive and really shits all over the Lin story (even more so then her still lying to Lin).

But I guess we'll see how they play that out (her lying). If that comes back to bite her in the ass, or if the writers just brush it off.

This episode shows how much potential this season has compared to the disappointment that was Season 2, yet I feel like this 13-episode season is really crippling the show's ability to flesh itself out and tell the story it needs to tell.

Unless Book 4 is going to be an extension of Book 3, focusing on the same villains and resolving the plot, this season is going to be ridiculously rushed and we're gonna get some Deus Ex Machina crap again.

I actually like this group of villains and honestly it would be best if they extended the season or make these villains the focus of Book 4 much like the Finale of ATLA's Book 2: Earth transitioning to Book 3: Fire.

i don't think i find Su to be evil, per se, but it just feels like there's more to her than she's letting on. and i didn't feel this way about her at all until this episode.

something about her connection to the truthseer rubbed me the wrong way. the fact that she knowingly sent these four kids to get him back, even with the risk of being completely demolished by Zaheer's group, just made it worse.

Just watched the new episode.

I guess it's now confirmed that Bolin won't be learning any metal bending. And Korra being little mrs perfect avatar will always bother me since Aang actually had a use for his team avatar outside of "help me when I can't fight for plot reason"

Well at least he had his shining moment. I thought that this episode we'd get the cool scene of that mako gif, but I guess it's not this one. There's a conspiracy going around here. I can feel it in me.

nah I feel like Bolin will figure it out just at the right time... for example perhaps sometime when korra is trapped and can't bend and metal bending is needed to save her.

Anyone going to point out how dumb it is that Korra wound up at the one place in the entire world where the second in command is a sleeper agent for the group out to kill her?

No? Alright.

Someone posted that concept art from the panel, pointed out Suyin might have met the bad guys during her traveling days, but I don't see anyone without arms or anything, that may be Zaheer in the middle but he isn't that big.

But only a few of them have red on their costumes, and Red Lotus...don't know. It's also the fire nation circus, so it could just be their color scheme.

Here is the modified image getting passed around Reddit, with the supposed Red Lotus members (main team) circled. I don't quite see it. The sizes of the characters seem a bit off (particularly Zaheer seems too big, earthbender dude seems a bit small.

We all know the mastermind behind this plot to kidnap Korra is that elephant on the side.

Look at that shifty-eyed motherfucker. Ever since Dumbo was taken from her she has lived a life of crime.

Suyin is almost definitely in on it.

There was a reason that the guard RIGHT AFTER SUYIN WAS INTERROGATED was chosen to be the culprit. Aiwei and Suyin realized Lin was catching on so they had to regain her trust by having her pass the lie detector test and then immediately get the scent onto someone else.

They also kept Suyin reiterating, "Ooh I don't know how they could've got in!?!" If there's anything we know about Legend of Korra, it's their lack of subtlety.

And then Suyin sends the kids at the end to their certain death while Lin knows no better? Either she wants them to die or she wants Aiwei's head due to blowing their secret or a combination of both.

If Suyin is not in on it I will draw airbender tattoos on my Chris Pratt avatar or something. I'm pretty confident.

Also that was a really good episode.

What is there to like? We know nothing about them, other than they broke out of jail. They have no personal connections to any of the characters and we don't really know the stakes.

Is it just the fight scenes?

basically just the fight scenes for most. I still feel lava bending is cheating. How are you going to explain to me that in centuries of earthbending nobody thought about making earth vibrate so fast it turned into lava. Metal bending is a special case because a blind girl master earth bender thought of it. But lava bending is bullshit unless you were the avatar and did like both earth and fire bending.

I think Suyin isn't with Zaheer, she just cares strongly about getting revenge on Aiwei for betraying her trust and made a rash and impractical emotionally driven call to send the kids after him, in continued contrast to Lin's personality.

Speaking of the villains, "Combustion bending/bender" is thing, so I'm wondering who else besides criminal assassins have had that ability, and if we can get some background on it. Could Korra tattoo an eye on her forehead and shoot lasers, being the prodigy she is?

you forget this is Korra. The fact her most trusted adviser was in on it and that she was acting all weird and forced during the interrogation means something is up as Korra can't do subtlety. This will cause the most melodrama and then a fight scene between the two sisters.

Did Asami even have a single line this episode?
"Hey gais where do I swipe the Mastercard?"

Nah dude, she's totally (Suy)in on it.

Did Asami even have a single line this episode?

Yeah she did. I paid attention because there were so few of them and they were of little importance. :(

I ain't buyin this either, considering Zaheer was obviously an air acolyte at one point, he tried to kidnap Korra 4 years after Aang died, I'm guessing he had gone out of Aangs good graces around then, not 30 years ago when Suyin would've been in the Circus.

Don't forget her reaction, when Korra outs Aiwei. Suyin does this quick little eye movement to the right. There's a lot of focus on her body language afterwards.

Suyin also has the potential connections in her past to meet up with a shady group like Zaheer's.

What happened was that they put the show of their life for the Avatar. But Aang DID. NOT. APPLAUD.

Obviously it meant turning into masters of their domain and killing the new Avatar.

Yep. When I saw her reaction, I figured she wasn't completely innocent in all of this.

First off, you guys read WAY too much into stuff.

Second, that's a "Left, then right, thinking and furrowing brow" face.

I just want to say that I would be truly shocked and surprised if the writers have the guts to make one of the offsprings of the original team Avatar a villain or antagonist (more so if it's the child of a character as popular as Toph), that's why I really doubt that Suyin is involved with the villains.

Nick fucking sucks. I had no idea LOKS3 was starting until like 2 weeks before it started because they don't advertise it like they should. Now they move it to digital and don't advertise the move? I hope netflix gets the right to Korra because S3 has been awesome.

I think there is something up with her but as you said not working with Zaheer bad. Maybe he knows something on her maybe they were working together on other plans. Id say she will end up as a good guy with some shady things about her that she may or may not get redemption for. I find it suspicious how Lin is still distrustful of her. I get their whole beef but the way she still reacts even wanting her interrogated seems intentional. Also theres the fact that she surrounds herself with shady people like the pirate, Varrick, and the truthseer. Then of course the final act where she has this odd connection with the truthseer and wants him back at all costs. She seemed way too emotional about it. I dont think she is with Zaheer since the abduction plot and battle would make no sense if Su was in on it.

It almost felt like they were maybe hinting that Bolin would be a magma bender. Perhaps im overanalyzing but since they focused on him not metal bending and then his interest in the magma bending guy seemed interesting. That'd also be a good way to seperate him from the other earth and metal benders on the show.

I think my main problem with Korra, is that she is learning everything and that defeats the purpose of having a team at all.

Even though Aang could bend all the elements there were certain things others could do that he couldn't Katara with her healing, Toph with her Metal Bending, they all had a reason to be there.

Korra pretty much is making everyone obsolete which is kind of silly, it's like the other characters are only their for the rescue scene in the season before they do nothing and have their pointless side arcs that amount to nothing.

Funny enough, the only character that has something that Korra doesn't is Asami, and that's being rich.
