LEGO GAF |OT2|: Building Dreams. Demolishing Wallets

Hype for the Cinema is slightly deflated but I come from the 80's and 90's style sets where pathetic interiors were the norm BUT...yea that interior isn't so hot at all compared to the other modulars...I still want it though so we'll see!

Seeing how they've done the box office\ticket sales I kinda wish they'd done the style that sits in the middle on the corner of the building at an angle with entrances on either side. Regardless, unless it's market street level of amateur design I'll be grabbing every modular from here to eternity.

Picked up a new Friends polybag at Target tonight, Emma's Ice Cream Cart. They had a whole pile of them over with the Valentine's stuff, if anyone's interested.

And speaking of Target, they've really become my go-to place for Lego lately. With the discount from the Red Card and their new price matching policy, they're hard to beat.

Hmm. I'm so conflicted! I really want to love Palace Cinema, but I have to admit that it's not immediately grabbing me, like, say, the Haunted House did. And the coloring, corner style, and even roof peak slightly remind me of Cafe Corner, which is a lovely set, but still my least favorite. However, with that said, the marquee does look like a fun and clever build, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a cute touch, so it may eventually grow on me.

I'm in love with the idea of refurbishing the theatre to hold more people. Perhaps I could turn it into a non- corner building- "unfold" the structure so that the two real exterior faces both look on the street. That way I could have the tiny exclusive vip theatre downstairs while building a larger one across most of two modulars of upstairs space. I expect to actually be able to afford to do this because I could pretty much single-handedly decide what the interior of the big theatre looks like. I wouldn't have to buy any expensive rare exterior pieces off bricklink.

Finally, the most important feature of my MOC shall be a scene of bruce wayne and his parents' murder in the back alleyway.

Is that set 42000? I am anxiously awaiting its release in the US - it is already in the UK lego store.

42000-1.jpg

Yes it is. Surprisingly though it's only now showing on S@H UK, I bought my set from the LEGO store in Shepards Bush Westfields about a fortnight ago.

It is an awesome build! Taking my time with this one, about to finish the rear suspension and engine block.

hmm. That might be doable without needing two of the sets, as the frontage would be the same.

Damnit. Stupid me decided that just collecting exclusives and Star Wars ships wasn't enough, so I jumped on the architecture series. Now I have to go to the trouble of finding a most definitely overpriced Hancock Center, only because I feel like I have to buy complete sets if it's still possible (and I don't find €400-€800 per OOP modular to be possible).

Even though you guys have hardly ever shown any interest in the architecture sets I still blame you! If I never read this thread after buying my flagship I never would have gotten in so deep.

Yeah after reading this thread I bought Hillside House, the 3-in-1 Lighthouse, fistfuls of minifigs and the damn Fire Brigade. There should be some sort of financial disclaimer in the topic. LMAO

Oh dear. I want.....all of these.

The series 10 minifig news is interesting. It's cool to hear they're doing something a little different for it. I just hope the gold minifigs aren't 'golden ticket' rare.

Apparently a lot of the sets at the show have prelim minifigs, but if it is like last year the NY Toy Fair should have mostly final minifigs, since that show allows pictures.

Apparently all the LOTR stuff on display is still preliminary. I'm not sure if that'll change in time for New York Toy Fair or not- it's really at that event we'll be getting photos of sets.

So much good stuff on that list though, that only really goes up to summer in terms of releases. We'll still have a second wave of Hobbit sets and S@H exclusives presumably across the year.

And I'm thinking some Thor: The Dark World sets as well around the same time as the Hobbit ones.

Plus that jerk went through the Technic section and didn't write anything down. Also no new Creator stuff?

We'll be getting additional reports from Brickset and FBTB, probably within the next 2 hours. I expect more details from them, including some of the missing themes, like Creator and Technic.

Thanks to this thread, as a new member, and my peaking interest in buying a Lego set ever since I saw the crazy expensive R2-D2 a few months ago, I finally purchased my first Lego in God knows how long. Monster Fighters' Vampyre Hearse! Seeing on the shelf at my local Target, looking so cool, forced me to buy it. Gonna put it together today. Pretty excited.

However, I'm really surprised at how expensive these sets are. I don't remember if they were this pricey when I was a kid. Lurking this thread, seeing the prices, really doesn't want me to get into the hobby again but I don't know if I'll be able to resist!

guh... I'm waiting to get PetShop and Cinema at the same time... But now I also want to get the Rancor Pit, Jabba's Palace, and the Sail Barge when it comes out.

My poor wallet.

Get Pet Shop now and Cinema later, you probably have like 2 years left to get that one at least, skip Rancor+Jabba's Palace as they are not essential imo then get the Sail Barge later on as well!

There i just saved you lots of money (for now anyway) :pPP

Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is releasing July 10, 2015, which means we should hopefully be getting some new Pirates sets.

That's the same year as Star Wars Episode 7, The Avengers 2 and Justice League... so prepare your wallets accordingly.

Licences either announced or we can reasonably expect in LEGO:

2013
Iron Man 3
The Lone Ranger
Man of Steel
Thor: The Dark World
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

2014
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
The Hobbit: There and Back Again
Guardians of the Galaxy

2015
Star Wars: Episode 7
untitled Hulk movie
The Avengers 2
Justice League
Pirates of the Caribbean 5
Ant-Man

The wife picked up the Batman Mr Freeze set for me. Nice and chrap too, at 20$. I look forward to putting that one together. Perhaps my Batman sets should be put together first from the move.

I shake my fist at LEGO. I just started buying LEGO again 1 year ago. Is it me, or is LEGO pumping out more sets than ever. I need to spend nearly $1000 just to catch up with modular buildings alone. I'm a working adult and can't afford to get all the sets I like. What up LEGO?

I will get most heroes sets and some of the others, but I will do so under protest.
