LEGO Horizon Zero Dawn Devs on Xbox Verison: "Nothing to announce about Xbox right now.

Despite being released on several platforms, Xbox was not included. Speaking recently with journalist Stephen Totilo, Guerrilla's narrative director James Windeler commented on the matter.
Windeler did not give a direct answer when asked, but said that they are focused on getting the most out of the PS5 and at the moment have nothing to announce regarding the Xbox.

Q: Why not Xbox?

A:

At the moment, we're very focused on pushing this hardware [PS5] to its limits and making this game look as absolutely incredible as possible on this hardware. And you know, we don't really have anything to announce about Xbox at the moment.

Commenting on the decision to release the game on Switch, Windeler says that it was Sony's wish to bring the game to Nintendo's hardware, making the title reach a "much wider audience, including a younger audience and the whole family".

How is the Switch pushing it then?

You fell for the clickbait headline.

Look at the actual quote... He says "We're focused on pushing the hardware on PS5 to its limit. We have nothing to announce for Xbox at the moment".

Shitbait tard gaming media interprets this to, "We're not launching on Xbox in order to push the PS5 to its limits."

Mods, please either change the thread title or lock the thread. Shit like this is just low effort worthless clickbait.

Their wording does also suggest that they eventually are planning to bring this to Xbox. Again, I've been preparing for the shift. There'll probably be an Xbox version of Helldivers 2 announced in the near future, too.

At the end of the day these companies just want money and for Microsoft & Sony, this "console war" is basically theatrics at this point. If they walk similar and talk similar, chances are they're related.

That interpretation's also goofy though because how is a game like LEGO Horizon going to push the PS5 "to its limit" versus a game like HFW: Burning Shores? Or something like GT7 for that matter?

Plus either way the wording leaves the backdoor open for an Xbox port in the future, mainly because they specifically mention the platform in name.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
That's on the original article, since it's clickbait i will ask the mods to change it.

It's not just the click-bait headline, the article is missing parts of the quote.

They use the same reason to justify why there isn't a PS4 version.

Who in there right mind thinks a Switch can do things a PS4 can't, let alone a Series console.

If the guy said "wouldn't sell", I'll totally agree and everything was fine. But no. He made just a dumb excuse...

The title of the thread has hints of misrepresentation/clickbait.... The statements sound more like "we are focusing on launching the best and most optimized version of PS5 and then we will see the possibility of other versions" (in response to questions about a version Xbox and then another about a PS4 version).

I don't see anything contradictory in the answer, rather the typical misrepresentation and clickbait title. The only news in any case would be that an XBOX version is not ruled out...

The Switch can barely run Fortnite and it's made by the creators of the engine it runs on.

The Series S version of Fortnite is the next-gen UE5 version running at 60fps. The Switch version is a muddy potato version running at like 15fps.
I presume he's being sarcastic but then again it's a Gaf poster 🤔

That is the best he came up with? 🤣
The reason is the same as why Forbidden West don't have an Xbox version or Starfield didn't launch on PS5.

Although I can see this releasing eventually on Xbox, since Sony didn't own the Lego brand.

"Because we don't want to. We don't need to. And we don't have to." It's already on the 3 platforms that really matter. Why bother with a port for a platform with a smaller install base that are conditioned to not but games but wait for gamepass.

Sony has stopped with ps4 ports of their own games. They want people to move to ps5.

Pushing PS5 to its limits......with a Lego game?

Traveller's Tales Lego games are quite interesting technically speaking, pushing a lot of things, and they also have a pretty impressive multiplatform experience. I understand this is being developed by another developer though.

The PS5 version is the definitive version as it's the primary platform so it gets to take proper advantage of the PS5 and its features (RT, Dualsense, instant loading...)

The Switch version was co-developed alongside the PS5 version rather than being ported afterwards. That way the Switch version is developed to take advantage of that platform rather than a down port.

Seems simple enough to understand.

The Switch is a 8 year old Nvidia tablet.
