Let's pretend that you have $20bn in the bank. What cancelled video game or dead IP are you reviving?

I'd fund a high budget remake of Darklands, the historical RPG from Microprose, and count it as a net loss as we will play it in twelve.

I'd probably use that money for a lifetime retirement fund ($1 billion), put some to private businesses ($1 billion), some to friends & family ($1 billion), some to charities ($1 billion)...

....then use the rest to get SEGA back to making consoles 😁

Is this thread about what we would do with 20 billion dollars or what game we would bring back with a 20 billion cap?

Anyway, if I could pick only one, I would reband Factor 5 to make Rogue Squadron 4 (which includes RS2 remake with co op of course)

I'd set up my own publishing business, aquire rights to quality arcade / older aaa games have qol and performance upgrades only and release physical copies for all for £10 - £20. At least 1 game a month and flood the market to kill off as many of the greedy bastards ripping us off I could.

I wouldn't be posting here. Forget about bringing a game back, life's about to become one giant video game for me with that type of money lol.

One of the most looked over games from Ubi's hot streak in the PS360 era:

I like how you'd have Rocksteady do a Blade Runner game.

On a similar note, another dream project of mine would've been to marry them with the Vampire: The Masquerade IP, for a terrific story-driven action/adventure open-world game with a branching narrative.

And while we're at it, two more requests that would've been neat in another timeline: a Matrix game made by the now-defunct Monolith Productions featuring the Nemesis System; and literally the Arkham Knight sequel starring Damian Wayne that was in the works in 2015 up until 2016 by the original team behind the outstanding Arkham Origins -- one of my several Roman Empires of cancelled videogames:

Digimon World 2 (Spiritual Sequel to number 1) and spend the entire 20 billion making it the most realistic monster raising game ever, ever digimon fully animated and unique, with unique personalities and traits, making it almost impossible to determine what's the logic to their evolution other than "feeling it"

That and making FFXVII feel like FFX

Why would you want them to make more mediocre ass consoles? They had 1 good device.

I think we can leave games for dead and that we can spend that 20 Billion on tho gs like the homeless, better farming and infrastructure

Have the original creator remake Xenogears AND complete the original vision for the second disc.

Buy the rights for MGS and have Kojima restore the original MGS2 portions that were cut due to 911.

The rest of the money I would use to fully fund Ueda to make whatever he wants… even if it takes the development time of multiple Last Guardians.

I'd find as many of the SingleTrac guys as I could and put them to work on a new Twisted Metal.

Then do the same with Luxoflux and Vigilante 8.

Handover Snatcher, ZoE and MGS back to KojiPro.

Resurrect and amalgamate Bizzare, Evolution and Studio Liverpool for sweet sweet arcade racing goodness.

Fund Opensource VK/DX. to Metal APIs and make it royalty free so Apple devices can stop paying lip service to gaming.

Gift GAF Gold on the daily.

Aside, Can't fault any of the above suggestions, shows there still enthusiast fervor in the user base yet (despite seeming otherwise)

🙂

With that sort of money i'm funding a GTA6 in scope Dredd Game fully voiced by Karl Urban and to market the game i'm going to release a movie.. Dredd2, id simply bring back everyone that made the first one and give them a £200mil budget then blow the change on coke and heurs

First 2D Castlevania. I'll have three teams work in re-imaginings of the series just like Konami did in 1993 with X68000, PC Engine, and Genesis.

Second Gauntlet. I want a 3D third person with combat like Ratchet and Clank and the timer forcing you into a risk/reward with treasure vs time remaining for the floor -> boss run.

Third Golden Axe. Huge detailed sprites (or whatever you call a 2D texture on a 3D block), lots of mayhem, varied set pieces, branching paths, quotable soundbite, etc.

Fourth Dark Fantasy Dungeon Crawl that looks like the artwork on 1980s boxes. I think gameplay could be completely re-imagined into something with barely more interactivity than Dragon's Lair but that is actually reactive second to second rather than relying on a canned set of animations.

I would use it to fund a game preservation/remaster program for EA's entire backlog, including all games with licensed music to pay for those licenses again for a re-release.

They are never going to do it themselves.

I would use it to fund my own studio so I don't need to do a "normal" job. Then I would make an all new Digimon World and Legend of Legaia. I'll even bring dead series back to life that I don't care about just to build up good will. Then I'd buy the rights to certain game series so I never have to hear about them again.

I guess a proper sequel to Parasite Eve 2 would be nice - like 3 just never happened. Could be a story about the mysterious group who bankrolled the shelter, and in the background there's Eve (who's grown up some since the 2nd game) working with Aya to find a way to stabilize rogue mitochondria.

With a theoretically unlimited budget, it really boggles to consider what form this game could take. I always imagined that Parasite Eve 3 could actually succeed as a retro-ish styled game in the modern day. No, really, I think it could - and by "retro" I mean a prettied-up form of what PE2 looked like, not some sort of pixel soup. Like, literally only snippets of voice acting, too. Good old-fashioned text-based conversations with atmospheric sound effects in the background. That's something the original Parasite Eve games did very well.

But with a huge budget, there's a lot of opportunity to expand that vision... and utterly ruin it. Anime-style voice acting of any kind would completely sabotage the game, so that's a "no" to basically 70% of popular voice actors in the industry (and I don't mean to make offense when I say that - that's an honest observation). It would have to have a measured, pseudo-scientific tone, and ideally a crapton of inner monologuing about everything you can examine in minutia just like Parasite Eve 2 did.

I'd focus the game on horror and investigation. Sussing out where hidden creatures are by talking to people, asking questions, and poring over environments, which in most cases eventually leads Aya into straight combat zones full of monsters and classic survival-horror gameplay.

Her car would serve as her mobile "field base" where the player manages their inventory, customizes their equipment, and plots what to do next. Hell, I'd toss Aya right back into the desert, because that was an excellent theme for the second game. It's scary out there in the badlands, especially when the sun starts to hang low in the sky. If we've got a big budget, then I'd have the team hack up a light procedural generation system which allows Aya to drive to incidental places to follow up on leads and exterminate monsters. A lot of tense "I wonder if there's something in that abandoned gas station" sort of moments.

All of this exploration, combat, and investigation wrapped up in an over-arching plot about the strange organization that seems just fine with using people as a test-bed for mitochondrial experimentation. Eventually, you'll get into firefights with human adversaries as you get closer to foiling their plot.

*reads over wall of text*

What am I doing right now?

I hire immediately all the people who worked on DEAD SPACE 1 & 2 and call the studio "ReVisceral Studio [ F*** EA ]" and order them to make DEAD SPACE 4, 5 & 6 and let them have TOTAL creativity except no online, no co-op.

I will have only one request: make all of them with an optional VR mode for all games (I will allow them to create a VR dedicated team for that), so all games can be played in pancake or VR mode (same content).

Oh, and original crew assets only, NO SHITTY ASSETS/TEXTURES/CONTENT FROM THE SHITTY WOKE REMAKE from my ass.
