My experiences with a local gay interest group kind of soured me on the idea of going out of my way to specifically befriend gay people with a focus on the orientation itself. I had a really weird time with the person running the group (since he was being pretty...aggressively flirty, and I even ended up going out on a "date" with him once), and I later found out that he had pretty much slept with everyone there. I don't have anything against promiscuity or anything like that, but it just weirded me out. There was a hypersexual, almost...incestuous nature to the group itself, but it might just be an exception.
But there have been other similar experiences where I have to counter aggressive flirtation with having to friendzone people, and it gets tiring after a while. I guess that's what women have to go through daily. I hate feeling so alienated from many gay communities, though.
