The movie Papillon is very odd, yet bizarrely compelling. I wouldn't say I enjoyed it, but it was interesting.
One thing that was a pleasant surprise was the presence of a relatively progressive gay character in this circa 1970s movie. It wasn't some throwaway bit part either.

I didn't mention it in my impressions because it's not really sexual in context, though I appreciate that the game's nudity likely has to do with some elements of them trying to imagine their setting realistically in ways many games avoid.

How is it possible? To not actually do any persuading, imo.
You don't really want to 'persuade' someone intentionally, because even if they're interested, a part of them will probably interpret you as an adversary or obstacle towards the relationship that they're still trying to maintain, which isn't an impression that you want to stick. After if you got together they might realize that how you approached him felt a bit exploitative, and they might trust you less than if you better respected their decision and had the dignity to not interfere.
Not to say that I think it's always a 'bad' thing. Sometimes all is fair, or some relationships are like visibly doomed to fail, or whatever. Often I think it might be a gray area, and just in the interest of keeping your nose clean it's better not to take that approach, but I'm sure other people would disagree and I think depending on the circumstances, it may be valid or whatever, but I wouldn't really trust myself to know those situations where it was 'okay', because self-interest can blind us and make us justify things that we really shouldn't.

He's gotten fat lately, kinda like Charlie Harding (look at his recent-ish video with John Magnum and feel free to ignore Harding since John Magnum looks amazing there, dat ass). I think when he started he was less pudgy. I like him now though, being chubby isn't necessarily a bad thing.

feel better cray crayIt's hard for me to get excited for the Oscars, when every year I almost never see any of the nominated films.
For Best Picture this year all I've seen are The Grand Budapest Hotel (I'm a mega Wes Anderson fan but was pretty lukewarm on it) and Boyhood (which was very unique and interesting, but I'm not sure if it's really Best Picture worthy).
Out of the Foreign Language noms, I've just seen Ida (it's on Netflix!!! Unlike any of the other nominees!!! :/) but I liked it a lot and am totally rooting for it to win both Best Foreign Language and also Cinematography.
Out of the animated films I've only seen How to Train Your Dragon 2, which I really liked, but I kind of want to see The Tale of the Princess Kaguya win so Takahata can have an Oscar to go along with Miyazaki's.
