With the epilogue? Awesome! Which was your favourite x? Where x is any thing there was more than one of i.e. character, event, dungeon, music...

Thoughts? State your faves too
Yes, with the epilogue! It was amazing!! <3

Okie.. Hmm.. Lemme give this a shot!!
Characters: Rise and Kanji
Dungeon: Steamy Bathhouse for sure
Music: Smile :)
Event: Uhmm..
When Nanako comes back to life, because then I was finally able to stop crying all over my Vita. I'm not even joking I was a mess LOL. OH also. ALSO. The cross-dressing contest. So good.

i dont really have a good response to this except that with the exception of people who just are not genetically inclined towards it, working out and eating well to get a physique more similar to andrew christian ads is possible for people who are willing to dedicate the time, effort, and money towards it.

i dunno. i stopped caring. i'm not even sure why i go to the gym tbh. i look fucking hot the way i am right now, and i don't care enough to change my diet to better complement my workouts, so idgaf, honestly. i still buy cute/sexy underwear cuz it looks good on me anyways, even if i don't look like the porn stars they get to advertise it.

also p4g is shit. almost as low-tier of a game as the entire halo series.

lmao sorry i gotta say it every time it comes up

Uh hmmm. I agree. And... post pics and let us be the judge. Wink, wink.

Jk :p

Like in terms of fan service of the female characters? That part/chapter is definitely the most over the top when it comes to that stuff. There's still some more throughout the game but it's not at those levels. (It doesn't help that Kazuichi is a douche, he's one of the worst characters in the game IMO.)

But I'd say definitely keep playing though. The story just keeps getting better and the amount of craziness that happens offsets any tired tropes you may encounter IMO. DR2 is one of my favourite VNs, so I hope you give it another shot. (And if you have anymore questions feel free to ask.)
It stops altogether after chapter 3.

The abundance of fanservice in the first half is really weird considering how rare it was in the first game.
Awesome, thanks guys! I've heard the game get's crazy so I've been avoiding spoilers like the plague; it was just offputting to jump back in and boom! fanservice. I'll keep going cus this mystery is actually pretty damn interesting. I'm cautious though cus the first game's ending is simultaneously terrible and fantastic so I'm not expecting too much.

EDIT: Badger you have excellent taste in Characters. Sai you have awful taste in games.

I agree with Sai, P4G is meh... but that's just me. It seems like a lackluster game plagued by flawed mechanics.

Thank you to the first part, and I agree to the second part <3. LOL!
Kanji is the relatablest. Fun fact: dated Rise by accident. She's awesome in English and horrible in Japanese and serious Rise is better than her, uh, persona. You know.

I was just kidding with the horrible taste thing. I think it's the kind of game where if the plot and characters resonate with you you'll really love it but if they don't the gameplay won't save it. I guess if you didn't have that small town childhood it's harder to get into.

Kanji was most definitely the relatablest!! :) Although I really
dislike his new look at the end when you revisit the town the following summer. ;___;

I dated Rise on purpose! LOL! She was the only character who had the guts to make moves! :p Also
her final persona is hilarious looking. the planets haha!

Yeah. I mean.. I was born and raised in a moderately-big city, but i've always been sort of a small-town guy at heart. Maybe that's why I connected with it. And I love the characters :)

Kanji is the best dude for sure (what they did to him in the anime makes me sad), and Yukiko and Rise are my favorite ladies, but I really like the entire P4 cast except for Yosuke. :/

Thank goodness he changes back in P4D. I don't like his "natural" look either.

Yes. Yes. Yes. I liked Yosuke at first but I disliked him more and more as the story went on :/..

I had the opposite effect with Naoto. I liked them more and more as the game went on.

I also agree with Yukiko and Rise :) Emphasis on Rise for me, but I love Yukiko almost just as much!

Agreed. Urgh. Much cuter blond.
She was crying and the game has like "hug her or just stand there like a robot" so I hugged her and boom! couple. Didn't mind though.

Part of the reason the game hooked me go hard when I first played was the whole 'Junes is killing the local buisness' thing. I grew up in a town where that was actually happening so it felt like the realest JRPG plot ever.

I mean we're all in agreement on Kanji but I gotta ask why you guys don't like Yosuke? He's literally my favourite character in all of persona so that's quite the difference of opinion.

His attitude towards Kanji/anything that's not "manly". They seem intent on continuing that too in the later P4 supplemental games/materials, and I really don't care for it. The fact that he's the most popular character in Japan does disappoint me a bit, simply because my one big issue with the series is their bait and switch approach to queer characters. It's always left ambiguous now, and I feel like Yosuke is an embodiment of that sort of "don't talk about it/it's weird" attitude.

I do like how dedicated he is to Yu though.

Yosuke has one or two redeeming qualities, for sure. He's not all bad. but like.. He's sort of insensitive, a huge perv, and I hate the way he treats Kanji. I dunno. Especially after maxing out Kanji's social link, it seems like characters like Yosuke were the reason Kanji's had such a tough time in the past.

I forgot about that. Other than that and the Optional sauna bit It was overall fairly light in that department, though. DR2 easily has about twice as many instances

And ditto

The sauna scene was optional? I tried my best to get out of it, but the game forced me into it.

Kanji sounds like an awesome name. That is if I'm getting the phonetic sound right (can-gee) or something like that is what I imagine Kanji sounds like.

Yep, that's about right :). Somewhere in between "can-gee" and "con-gee".. If that makes any sense at all.

I love his name :)!

Hmmm, I suppose that makes total sense. The camping scene really bugged me. But to me everything Yosuke does feels like realistic 16 year old boy behaviour, you know? I kinda felt like as the game went on Yosuke and Kanji got closer; and I mean (PQ Spoilers)
if he's Yu's destined partner he eventually kinda accepts it. More importantly, he has a lot of respect for Kanji and is obviously more cool with it.
I feel like P4 does a great job establishing he's a dick; then has him kinda grow up but sorta hides it in subtle dialogue stuff.

P4A Spoilers
Plus everything with Labrys is kinda along these lines too; Yosuke screws up and realises he's being a dick and tries to fix it. I mean it's not directly analogous cus it's not a queer thing but yeah

Also, my headcannon is that
he has a thing for Yu and just won't accept it so he lashes out. I just got a 'closeted kid' vibe.
But obviously that's not cannon and proves nothing.

The female sauna scene auto triggers if you have a certain item from the MonoMono machine in your inventory. If you don't the game will just skip it.

K i got my sauna scenes mixed up LOL.

I was thinking of the scene where
the two male characters compete with each other over who can stay in the sauna for the longest.

It's been too long since I've played that game, apparently..

TIME FOR A REPLAY <3.

Cut dialogue indicates his S Link was gunna go there. I'm glad it doesn't though tbf. "I've learned latching onto someone romantically because I'm lonely and they're nice is bad. But she's dead and you're nice so DATE ME :D"

Would only work if like
you couldn't hook up till after December or something...

Haven't played PQ yet so I couldn't comment on that, but the fact that the rest of the stuff is seen as "typical" is what makes me sad. I know that it's a part of life to run into people like that, and people can change (which Yosuke slowly seems to be doing), but I don't like that he's basically given a free pass to spout most of this stuff and that he isn't called out more for it. And that this is seen as endearing to a large portion of the fanbase is also disappointing to me.

I'm really hoping in P5 that if they have romantic social links/connections, that we get a gay dude or two to interact with and that they're not constantly subjected to snide remarks and stuff like that.

As for your headcanon, I've thought about that too, and I'd be totally down for that, but I don't think it's in the cards sadly.

You should play Persona Q, cus it's pretty fun. I guess I find it endearing for the same reason I find most of the game to be so; because it feels realistic. I mean I've had friends who were Yosuke. And I never really got the impression you were supposed to condone his behaviour but it's easy to read it that way too.

I'm hoping for that in P5 too! I think Catherine, and P3P are good signs. Have you played Persona 2 by the way cus that's a little relevant here.

It'll never happen, but there's always fanfiction ;)

I've got all the Persona games! I haven't played Innocent Sin yet though. (I know what you're referring too.) I wanted to do a mega Persona series playthrough from start to finish, but when we didn't get the PSP version of Eternal Punishment, I felt totally deflated. :/

Catherine has some positive stuff, but there's still the "Yosuke" character there too. I'm really hoping P5 can move past all that.

Chapters 2/3/4 are like a never ending roller coaster of torture. Literally all my favorite characters dying one by one (except for the atrocious Hifumi...), it's like WHEN DOES IT STOP? D:

Ah, yeah, true. And the thing I'm referring to is not problem free either. Still
a bisexual man videogame protagonist other than Phoenix Wright? That's pretty cool!
I actually haven't played it for myself yet though. There's no Eternal Punishment of any kind in my country so I've been putting it off

Count me on team "hurry up summer" too guys! It's started to get sunnier here and I love it but it's still cold and windy.

This is like totally backwards for me, lol. I really loved the characters, instantly. The beginning dragged a bit but the story is basically the only thing that kept me going. I just think the combat is about the most basic you can get in a turn-based RPG. It was incredibly simple, and not engaging at all whatsoever. If the gameplay was better I wouldn't even joke about how bad I think it is. Turn-based, element-based combat systems are just super lazy in my opinion, especially since the gameplay doesn't change from the first battle all the way to the last one.

I didn't know if I should make a new topic for this, but I guess I'll just keep it here.

So about an hour ago I came out to my mom. My mom is this immigrant religiously conservative Muslim with vastly different views on everything although she thinks I see things the same way she does. I had this whole speech planned out but when the moment came, I just started shaking like crazy but eventually got it out. I tried to avoid using the word gay, so I kind of just went "You know how my brothers' feel about girls? Well I don't feel the same way, in fact I feel the opposite way."

She took it shockingly well, at least in regards to her composure. But she responded with the usual religious BS, "pray to God, that'll make you attracted to women." I was very insistent that there was no changing this but she was equally insistent on her view. I guess our relationship hasn't really changed; we still love each other. But she just doesn't get it. And I'm worried what it will do to her once she realizes I will never be with a woman.

That's cool, definitely not holding it against you if you feel that way. I prefer my gameplay systems to change and evolve over time. I'm impatient and I get bored suuuuper easily, so if a system isn't changing/evolving over time, I get frustrated/upset with it :/

I'm glad she took it well. Give her time, she will change her views about it. The surprise was probably the reason why she said the "pray to God " stuff.

Also trying to avoid the word gay when coming out makes things awkward like "brain please thing of something else to say" and fucking brain has nothing lined up. :p

Oh wait that's already out (Playthrough #19 is soon. Doing a low-level run for this round. Same for the sequel's 7th playthrough)

Persona 5 and Pokemon Z.

Kind of want Halo 5 but at the same time I need more games in order to get an XBO.

The sauna scene was optional? I tried my best to get out of it, but the game forced me into it.

I thought it was mandatory as well.. Did I do something wrong? LOL

I didn't mind tho, I suppose.

Pretty sure it was. It's given through a key item obtained in the vending machine, I think.

I just think the combat is about the most basic you can get in a turn-based RPG. It was incredibly simple, and not engaging at all whatsoever. Persona 4 Golden in particular is by far the easiest game in the Shin Megami Tensei franchise (Which isn't exactly a feat considering these games are generally hard on you, but still). Even people who played the original version of Persona 4 (already considered on the low-end of difficulty for the series) thought it was too easy. Golden made it absurdly easy to build game-breaking setups early on with little trouble without giving an appropriate boost in power to enemies, which makes nearly everything after May a joke. In other games like SMT3 or Devil Survivor, you're given extremely strong setups to play with, but enemies are equally merciless.

I think you would like the main series a bit more. While the character writing isn't very strong (And the main point of most of the cast is to decide whichever faction is the least disgusting), the actual plots are nice and the games tend to use their weakness systems to more substantially dictate the flow of battle as opposed to turning successful weakness exploitation into curbstomping. SMT3: Nocturne in particular uses a much more thoroughly fleshed out system of turn-control that often has enemies that can't be elementally exploited. (and in a few rare cases the enemy freelyabuses the system against you) So while weaknesses are a significant part of the system, they play a secondary role in the flow of battle in the mid-to-late game (aside from resistances/immunities, which improperly observed will destroy you)

What's your most hyped games, guys?

Currently, I mostly can't wait for Code Name STEAM and Streer Fighter V. It sucks that SFV is so far away :(
Xenoblade Chronicles X and Devil's Third!
Nothing. With the price of games in Canada I've decided to stop buying new games. I'm avoiding trailers, screenshots, gameplay, etc, that could get me hyped
Amiibo hunting here and everytime I'm at the store I fucking impulse buy videogames(I never impulse buy anything, except videogames) and since x amiibo was nowhere to be found the next weekend it's the same nightmare. Videogames are expensive, why? >:C
