Yeah that sounds rough. I'm not sure I could make that kind of commitment for someone and that's coming from someone who's looking for a long term thing. You're not a fool for contemplating it. Just make sure it's something you both want and is financially and realistically feasible for the both of you.

^Yeah Tom. He's 19 going on 20 I believe. I'm pretty sure this will be his last year on it since they stop allowing them once they hit 20 (Ethan James just recently left last month).

Did this with someone for two years: I was in upstate NY and he lived in a remote area of western Canada. Eventually, I moved to Seattle and he moved down to Vancouver BC, albeit not specifically for each other, but the idea was to at least see what might happen now that we were within a reasonable distance.

Long story short, he and I remain good friends after six years, and meet up occasionally. While it was never a "legitimate" relationship (even if we hit all the bullet points along the way), the experience had an important and transformative effect on my life and I wouldn't trade it for anything. So yeah, if you think there's something worth following through on here, go for it. Just don't sacrifice or pass up anything in your immediate life in order to fulfill a supposed obligation to the online side of things.
