I can really only state my opinion (so people might disagree), but I thought this one was "technically" a better movie (a bit better directed, etc). But the first one was a bit more fun, I think.

As right as they are, Avengers was at least watchable. I consider it the best MCU movie so far.

Haven't seen Guardians yet, but I know that's a big hit among my circles too.
