While reading for school, I found a passage from Ceremony by Leslie Marmon Silko that perfectly encapsulates the feeling of relief I'm experiencing as my depression and emotional issues slowly subside. It's about a Native American who is trying to rid himself of PTSD:

"He kicked his boots loose from the stirrups and stretched his legs; the tendons and muscles unlocked from the flexed position of the saddle. He had proved something to himself; it wasn't as strong as it once had been. It was changing, unraveling like the yarn of a dark heavy blanket wrapped around a corpse, the dusty rotted strands of darkness unwinding, giving way to the air; its smothering pressure was lifting from the bones of his skull."

(Emphasis mine)

While it's not about my particular issues, I think it perfectly visualizes what depression and emotional anxiety feel like and, conversely, the relief you feel when you know you're finally conquering them.

I just thought I'd share and see if anyone else here relates. ^_^

I never actually did one of these and I just lurk all the time and will probably go back to the neogaf chat room after this but anyway

That's a great quote. Visualizing your feelings can be a very effective way to process them.

Welcome! I disagree, film is far from boring. What kind of music do you like?

That's what I'm working towards!

Oh, really?

I wouldn't mind a gaming focused thread/community. When I think about it, it seems like a stupid idea in my head, but I find that sorta convo gets lost in this thread often and sometimes ignored. I do get a lot of gaming talk from the Skype chat, but wouldn't mind it on GAF with this community.

Not porn. He does anti-bullying campaigns and charity beefcake calender/photo shoot stuff.

Ben Cohen for those wondering.

Are you waiting for the next visual novel to come out to make a catch all gay games thread?

Its a great Idea. Hope you can work out something get it going.

I haven't broached a catch all "Gayming OT" thread yet, but I have a few things on the go that have been approved. (I'm not a huge fan of the term "gaymer" though.) I don't know if a gay gamer OT would be allowed. They'd probably just say that this OT can be used for that also, but I am working towards getting more LGBT centric topics created. (The idea of a Gaming Community OT is still something I'm considering though.)

Currently I have the approved draft for a topic about character designs from an LGBT perspective (what you like, what you'd like to see, etc.), and I have the go ahead for an OT for another gay adult dating sim for the upcoming PC game No, Thank You!!! It's coming out on Feb. 27th, so I'm gonna start working on it within the next couple weeks.

Me too, I've been waiting for a long time for it to come out. I hope it does really well for MangaGamer so it encourages them (and other companies) to pursue more titles like this.

It's not some quick little VN either, it's apparently 30+ hours (all routes) and has over 3000(!!!!!!) CG scenes. (Though granted a lot of those are the variations from the body hair mods.) The story is supposed to be quite interesting too, takes a very dark and mysterious turn.

Not the very last panel, but, like, towards the end where he's like "they're homosexuals" just kind of rubbed me the wrong way.
Oh, this one?

tumblr_lgimefaYWZ1qak1sk.jpg

It's simply the mum saying to him that his dad and the bf of his dad are gay, nothing more. :/

The translation is bad though, since "schwul" is simply "gay" in English. And yeah, "The Homosexuals" sounds like she's talking about some alien species or something. :p

:D

I was so pleased with the turnout for the Coming Out On Top OT, so I hope this does just as well. This game has a very different tone though, it starts out really silly and funny, but slowly, slowly the seedy underbelly starts to creep in. I wonder how people are gonna react to it.

I miss RPJ. It was nice getting a small glimpse at who I'm talking with!

Oh well, just 11 months until next time... :p
What are you talking about? I'm definitely the guy in my av.

I'm going to regret getting as drunk as I currently am in the morning, but I had to mourn my husband Russell's Super Bowl loss ;__;.

Also, the Patriots have so many hot dudes on their team it's ridiculous. I particularly like their 49th string QB, Jimmy Garoppolo:

He is too pretty.
