I read about this the other day and it said she was making over $10k a month on her OF. From everything I've seen on streaming it's something like $0.003 per stream to the artist. So she would need to be getting 3.5 million streams a month to equal out. I assume that means she isn't hitting that level of traffic on Spotify.
 
She hasn't put out an album in 6 years and don't think she's really that huge anyways (maybe a UK thing?)

The people who make big money on streaming are consistent with releases.

Also depends on their deal with the label. People sign away a ton of their revenue and then complain about it. But without the promotion they got they may never have made a dime.

so she had some "hits" in the UK a dozen years ago and is now wondering why she's not making much money on spotify. mhh I wonder why.

Eh, I don't think there's thats much fucked with the music industry. Sure the record labels are greedy and take more than their fair share, but they are hardly the most profitable companies either.

The hard truth is that listening to any given song has very little value anymore. I can only just about bring myself to pay for one subscription service, and frankly I might drop that soon too.

There's just inherently not a huge amount of monetary value in a piece of music:
  • Music is more accessible and common than ever.
  • A lot of modern music is very similar.
  • Other forms of entertainment are more stimulating and appealing.
On the other hand: sex sells and simps will be simps.
