Root Double

Grisaia (for comparison)

edit: if Vita cards work like USB sticks/SD cards, then you should be able to fit around 3800MB on to a 4GB Vita card. It's possible that some of that space is reserved for other things like copy protection though, not sure. I mean, there must have been a reason why they never released a physical edition.

Hope I can finish it this week, will write more detailed impressions then. I have a feeling you'll like it if you don't mind the slow parts of the story, it's really starting to pay off during the last two routes.

3.3 GB is definitely the maximum without patches. Not entirely sure why, though.

Will do.

Talked with LRG and Sony.

They got some very interesting news and their meeting turned out to be better than expected.

The volume is low, so it's hard to make out what they're saying. But it's so close they can taste it.

Give me the bullet points if you can, the stream is broken on my end.

Don't understand at all. They can taste what?

Pretty much what I said. The volume is terribly low, so I couldn't really hear much. I wish they would've moved closer to the mic. So I apologize if what I say is vague.

What I got so far:
*Vita won't be the only thing.
*Meeting with LRG was interesting and turned out better than expected.
*I think they're down to do Physical. They revealed Sekai Project is one of the most requested companies for LRG.
*Talked with Sony
*Won't do anything until everything is perfect (Grisaia). Need to contact the Original Developer.
*Saving some announcements for later
*So close they can taste it is a reference to the realization of Fruits of Grisaia on Vita I believe. Or just Vita stuff in general.

Q&A Stuff in regards to Vita:
*Root Double Vita Physical: Can't do it due to Size Limitation. Their version will be even larger. Sekai can't get around it. Even making the Voice Acting as a Download provides a problem such as the size of it, voice licensing, and the thought of making it into DLC doesn't sit well with them. The PC Version is close to 9 gb, so how can they do it. Don't want you to wait hours for the voice patch to download. They want to bring it to console but can't do it as a physical release.

Thanks for sharing! Want to know more about every point since I expected more steady announcements.

Didn't realize the stream was tonight, thanks for posting the summary Olengie.

So again, to summarize the Root Double situation: Root Double Vita JP 3670MB, max. available space on a 4GB Vita Cart is 3300MB, US Rouble Double Vita will be even larger than JP version, devs would have to take out the voices for it to fit on a cart but think it would be the wrong choice for the game, game won't be available physically

Well, that's a weak excuse. I'd rather wait hours to download the dub than wait even more hours to download the whole game in digital form.
Just make it an update instead of a DLC if for some reason they don't like it. Isn't the hosting for updates free on PSN?

Am I not going to wait hours in any case for the game to download?

They said the localized version will be larger with their script.

They said would have to license the voices or something like that. They were afraid people would treat it like DLC and people dont like DLC. Its a lame excuse. I know

Sekai Project didnt really say much about LRG other than something is happening. But due to terrible audio/background noise, I couldnt really transcribe it efficiently.

EDIT: Livestream on Youtube. Will update this post

*Will talk about specific stuff very soon. They won't hold onto the news for long; fans will know.
*Wants their partners in Japan to be satisfied with the port before moving on.
*Can't say much since a lot of stuff is pending.
*After GDC, doors opened. I believe that is what they're getting at.

Back about Root Double:
*Voice Patch is so large, people might not have the space. Sub-licensing the voices. The voice is a big part of the game, so they don't want to compromise.

Let me add to the licensing issue with the voices, just so you understand a little bit clearer why my lame excuse is rather valid to me at the very least.

The voice agency will want a seperated deal for us to distribute voices outside of the software package, even as DLC. And, we cannot simply license it forever.

So this means, we can distribute the voices in a large ass patch for a limited time window, for an additionally large sum of money (If every party even agrees to us doing so, which is a whole other can of worms). So as lame as I am, I am just making sure that instead of people getting a game physically and eventually having to deal with all those people who jump on the game way down the line who would not get voices potentially, the game will be available digitally for longer with voices.

Trust me, I gone out of my way to talk to Sony, the company, everyone about seeing how this could be possible. I can only bleed so much money before it becomes unreasonable for us to move forward on what every fan wants.

So, lame I know, but lame it will be. It's a complicated issue which most fans will shrug off as us not trying hard enough most likely.

Apologies for the audio quality, we haven't recieved our proper camera equipment at the office yet so we tried our best.

It's k. At least it was uploaded on youtube so I could listen to it again.

Lol. I moved on about Root Double. I care more about Grisaia since that has a bigger chance of a physical copy lol. :p

Would a completely voiceless physical version that never gets DLC or a patch be possible? Or would that also be some other thing to license and pay a lot for?

I know the physical cartridge for Retro City Rampage DX is technically it's own version of the game that's not available digitally. It's the same game, but the cart installs it's own gold-colored bubble and gold livearea screen that doesn't overwrite the DX bubble downloaded from PSN. Possible technicality?

Not sure how much the hardcore fans here would be into that, but I know I'd accept it for something I'm really into if I had to, just so I could have a collectible copy as well.

Just based on personal experiences, talking strictly personal, I dont think any parent company would be into the idea of releasing what they could deem is a different version of the game, regardless of the demand.

Its really a case where just no is no, and hopefully those who think about what was said a bit, will understand that its not a no that comes easy for me to say.

No worries. I just figured I'd ask for the sake of others here who really care. I'm sure everyone here will understand.

So root double being no I hope that grisaia trilogy with limited run will be yes.
Also LRG talked about announcementS, and right now we only got volume, so there are more to come?

I don't quite get it. What potential games are we thinking Sekai and LRG are thinking of doing?

Chances are it would probably be LRG that ends up doing the non backer copies of Grisaia, if they do anything. I mean there's like nothing else that's noteworthy they could even pick up lol. Choose anything smaller and they run the risk of people just not caring, beyond those who already backed the kickstarter anyway.

There is Fault - Milestone One, I'm preeeeetty sure Alice in Dissonance has enough fans out there to make a physical release of that Sekai published VN worthwhile.

They never even added tiers for the Vita version, so are there even "backer copies"? Unless they open up orders through Backerkit first or something...

Seems I could be wrong then since I just assumed that since it hit the Vita stretch goal, that physical PC people would also have the choice of Vita physical, since that's how some other kickstarters have done it. I still wouldn't expect it to be anything other than Grisaia, if LRG does anything of theirs.

But there was a stretch goal for 240k which was successfully achieved.
Anyway that's a question I would like to have been answered, which games are we talking about? And yes I believe grisaia trilogy(100%) and fault milestone one.And I want them right now.

Oh yes, I forgot that the Grisaia PC physical hasn't happened yet. But I backed at the $1 tier once the stretch goal was hit in hopes of them adding a Vita tier. If they do open up orders through Backerkit before the general public, I certainly won't complain.

Woof, this thread is moving fast now! Is Oddworld New and Tasty still the next thing going up for sale or did that get bumped? It's hard to keep track :p

One of the best covers I've seen, will it have the same price as the others? Can we grab both versions in the same order?. You guys are killing it(and my wallet too)

We'll announce details on pricing and release dates at a later time. Digital MSRP will determine the physical version's price tag. I think it is safe to assume that YIIK will be $24.99, though.

You will definitely be able to buy one of each at the same time.

It's still next! It's actually pretty far into manufacturing with Sony right now so a release date announcement will be coming soon. Look for it sometime in April!

:333333333 Thanks, awesome announcements and glad that developers are showing their support, you deserve it!Physical fanboys like me are the ones who win.

YIIK looks promising and that cover art is excellent. Keep up the good work, LRG guys. Hope the Vita port is alright because that's the version I'd prefer.

Are you planning on giving artworks/signed things/ps4 devkit disks for future orders like you did with smrpg?

Random cool pack ins will definitely be a thing going forward, so long as the devs provide us with things to pack in. We're also considering selling prototype discs with 100% of the proceeds going to charity (of the developer's choice).

Nice! Hope to have better luck for next games, doesn't sound bad the idea of selling that for charity too. Also will some copies be signed by you/developers?
