Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington has committed suicide

I loved their first couple albums, I listened to these guys like crazy when those came out.

When my wife and I started dating we'd watch their Frat Party at the Pankake Festival VHS as we'd go to sleep on the weekends, just last month we uncovered that tape and watched it again.

This is really sad to hear. He's been one of my favorite vocalists since Hybrid Theory came out.

This is so sad. Him and Mike are the two most influential musicial voices in my Life. Say what you will about their music, but Chester's voice was always real, genuine, and beautiful.

I was putting it off, but now I'll never have a chance to see him live with the rest of LP.

Wow, this really sucks. Probably the first time the passing of a celebrity has really effected me. Like everyone else here Hybrid Theory and Meteora were some of my favorite albums in middle school. Reanimation got me into rap music. Hell I've enjoyed most of their albums. I've had a long running joke with my friend from when we were in South Korea and some guy at a club asked me if I was Chester Bennington.

RIP

This one hurts. I've been a huge fan since I was 14 and have been listening to them for the last 16 years. Got me through a lot of rough times. RIP Chester. You mattered.

Damn. That is awful.

I enjoyed their first few songs, then grew to dislike them as they became associated with every emo teenager. But as I've gotten older I've softened on them and really liked "Heavy".

Whenever these celebrity deaths happen, there's always the ones that sting more for certain people than others for whatever personal reasons you might have.

This is one of those for me. Linkin Park was one of my top bands growing up and I still listen to them regularly today, sticking with them through all the different changes in sound.

And to know that he too, just like Cornell, one of the best voices in rock music, was fighting so many demons that pushed him to hang himself?

I'm absolutely heartbroken.

Who cares if one more light goes out?
In the sky of a million stars
It flickers, flickers
Who cares when someone's time runs out?
If a moment is all we are
Or quicker, quicker
Who cares if one more light goes out?
Well I do

RIP Chester. I'm thankful that I got to see him perform with Stone Temple Pilots and Linkin Park. Thoughts and Prayers to his friends and family and the rest of the band.

He was really good friends with Cornell, they were Godparents to each other's kids. Today must have been awful for him.

The voice of many Counter-Strike frag movies growing up and the voice of the music I would get made fun of if found in my iPod or in my personal CD collection because everyone in high school would make fun of you for listening to Linkin Park. RIP Chester

I'm crushed. I'm here at Comic Con where we saw Linkin Park perform exactly 3 years ago today. I was a big fan back in the early 2000s. Even that song they made for the first Transformers movie was good.

RIP

I saw them live on their first official date of the One More Light tour, it was the first time I saw them live after being a fan since the launch of Meteora.

I still remember I was crying singing "Breaking the Habit", I fucking cried, hard, that song helped me a lot during dark years. I still remember he was smiling watching everyone sing that song at the Movistar Arena, and then I saw him and he looked at me and he made me a signal and told me hi, then Phoenix appeared down the stage and confirmed me that he was saying hi to me.

Dude, I felt so great when Chester noticed me and embarrassed at the same time since I was crying like a child.

I was already planning to see them again once they come back to Chile but never knew that I was seeing Chester live for the first and last time.

Fuck. Fuck. FUCK.

I want to cry hard right now. It's like something has been taken away from me and didn't wanted to.

Celeb deaths don't hit me hard at all, but Iwata and this one have me feeling terribly. Especially since both were so tragic.

Was going to see LP next Friday in Queens, too. Fuck.

RIP Chester.

I can't honestly think of a celeb death that would hit me harder that you could announce right now.

I'm so, so shocked and so, so gutted. I don't know what else to say.

LP were always my favorites. Chester was like my bud. Even if the recent work, or his voice wasn't of my taste recently, I had the most respect of him and his crew.

But this man... I cant respect this man.
I hope he is in a better place. He was better than this.
RIP

Big gateway band for me as a kid that I listened to A TON, and even if some of the recent output wasn't really my thing, I'd still keep up with them and watch their studio videos because I thought they were great and funny guys. Chester especially always seemed super friendly and personable with both the band and fans. I'm a huge Soundgarden and Chris Cornell fan so after finally kind of getting over that stuff in a sense, I feel like this just brings it all back. I don't think it has really sunken in yet.

Dude was an incredible singer. Some people will point to some of his lyrics and point out that they aren't necessarily especially complex but I don't think they needed to be. They were honest and I never felt they were pretentious.

Meteora and Hybrid Theory are in my top ten list and were pretty important for me back in the day.

RIP Chester.
