List of PS5 Pro enhanced games

Darktide seems like another middling update.

In Performance mode, is often softer and shimmer is often worse in darker areas (which this game is full of), but in motion it tends to lean a bit in favor of Pro over Base.
In Quality mode, unless I misheard it, Oliver said something like "PSSR looks quite a bit worse".
Performance can drop to 45~ fps, similar or maybe a little bit worse than the Xbox version last year.
Oliver thinks it would have been nicer to have the PS5 version in higher resolution instead of PSSR for the Pro enhancement.

Just to clarify a few points here. PS5 Pro has no performance/quality option - the PS5 Quality mode comparison was the 30fps output compared to the only PS5 Pro mode which is @50-60fps. A key point in the PS5 Perf to PS5 Pro comparisons is that in motion - which is where you will spend a lot of the game - PS5 Pro looks and resolves better and has a slightly higher framerate. It's something which you don't see in a lot of the stills, or at rest, where the regular PS5 upscaler does a good job of improving it's output where subsequent frames are very similar. My personal experience summary is that the PS5 Pro upgrade is decent enough but could improve.

You're putting too much confidence on developers under tight deadlines reading documentations 👀 🫣

Anyway if the fix is just to denoise the input in software before giving it to the PSSR that's not a lot of work.
yup it depends on how the graphics pipeline work and how much control they have over the game's engine, but in CoD case the dev said they did it in half a day, which sounds very quick to me.

Space Marine looks much, much sharper now with PSSR. To my eyes it really does looks 4k-ish in "speed" mode now. There's a bit of noise in fine elements like grates at an angle or distant fine metal geometry, but technicaly that was there before just harder to notice and I've also seen it with DLSS to a degree, so no big issue as far as I'm concerned and well worth the trade-off for overall clarity. In terms of image quality it looks like a very successful upgrade. It remains to be seen whether there's any performance degradation in demanding scenes, but that'll take a while to test. For what it's worth, I did just play a section with tons of allies/enemies and explosions and performance remained solid so first impressions are good, but we'll see.

A few quick grabs, though I don't know if there's any loss of quality from the PS app. I think it looks even sharper while playing.

Just downloading the update for Space Marines 2, then I'll jump in for the first time.

I've been really disappointed so far with how the base PS5 is looking superior to the PRO.

To be honest I haven't been playing first party games as I've already played them on the PS5 and I have only been playing new third party games, except for Astro Bot.

Sony being silent on these PSSR issues really doesn't help matters!

The problem is "worse" is very subjective. For many of those games, they can be worse in some aspects but better in others so it's not an overall downgrade. Jedi Survivor for example is still better in my opinion even with the issues introduced while DF insists it's worse. It's hard to make an objective list.

Never had this issue with PS4 Pro where things had to be discussed if they where downgraded or not on the Pro, they where just better. I feel like if Sony had given a better processor and not just Pisser turned on for everything as a bad replacement then this issue would be none existent.

But I think everyone knew the same processor was a mistake when we had things like Dragos Dogma 2 struggling due to it. Little bit more overhead never hurt.

Space Marine 2 : another fucking disappoinment, while it does look better now on performance mode (less blurry) the performance is fucking shit compared to the unpatched version averaging at 40-something fps whenever there's action involved, pretty much like the OG PS5 version did basically before the Pro, frankly, it's a joke at this point...

I just can't anymore with these "Pro" patches, and the worst thing is, you don't actually know if they'll make things better or worse, so far, many of them (most I'd say) are a complete and utter disappointment.

I just turned the game off in disgust, Sony HAS to fix this shit - PSSR ain't cutting it and apparently is not "free" as it's severely affecting performance, I'm tired of games that actually perform WORSE than on the base PS5.

Radical, I have 65 hours logged so trust mate when I say that the patch is disappointing.
Performance now is on par with the game running on base hardware (and we all know how it ran on the PS5).

Basically:
- better IQ
- same performance as on base PS5
- worse performance compared to the unpatched version on the Pro

Just wait and see for the eventual DF analysis 😉

I trust you even though you’re Italian. I think better IQ in the 60 fps mode is what I’ll settle with. It’d have been great to have less IQ and better framerate but I’ve had a Sega Saturn so en peores plazas hemos toreado. Maybe by the time I finish ER+DLC is solved.

I think the thing with Pro and One X was that it was simply resolution most of the time and taking a 1080p PS4/XBO game and making it 4K is an obvious upgrade. Games are much more complex now and most of them are reconstructed anyways so I think in general it's just harder to see upgrades.

I guess what I'm getting at is that it was simpler to upgrade for Pro/X because most of the time it was simply a resolution boost.

It performs about the same fps as the non pro fps. The pre patch performance was eye bleeding bad as far as visuals. This is nothing short of an upgrade to me, IMO. I’ll take the lost a few frames versus non patched to get far far better graphics.

A "few lost frames" isn't the same as the game's bad performance on the base console which averages at 40-something fps.

I play games, not watching still pictures.

Non patched version was fine on the pro performance wise.

Disagreed this game looked like blurry puke on base ps5 performance mode it now looks very clean and feels like 60 most of time in a demanding game this is acceptable

- New Resident Evil 4 Remake patch/update : this is only available and specific to PlayStation 5 consoles.
Hopefully someone will report on it soon, because until we know for certain what it does I ain't downloading it.

Yeah, I'm just nervous that they end up leaving it without a decent Pro Enhancement. But if they allow for an uptick in resolution as per the Pro patch whilst not using PSSR, that might work. I believe thats what they're saying for the hotfix.
Same. Would definitely purchase the game if they managed to maintain the previous increase in resolution and LOD in a mode free from additional issues.

Space marine 2 on the Pro look significantly better/sharper than the ps5 especially in motion. The ps5 look like a bloody mess in action. The pro also hold frame rate substantially better although it is not ideal in the later scence but it a freaking huge update. I believe that scene is one of the most demanding one.

I loaded up Spiderman 2 today and wow does this game look amazing on performance pro mode. Maybe the best looking game I've played, period, and a huge jump from MM on base PS5 which I beat recently.

I played through Dead Island 2 on XSX at launch but grabbed the Ultimate Edition in the sale for $35 to check out the Pro version. It looks so good I’m playing through it again.
It just got another patch too. Not sure what it does.

Vick Vick RE4 recent small update seems good. Performance improved on the area I tested for 5 minutes. Last time I had minor missed frames when panning, now locked 60fps.

Is rogue trader enhanced? How’s the performance now on Pro? It was abysmal previously which is why I dropped it. Looks like the only thing added was 4k support from what I can gather

Is there a planned patch for Astrobot? Just tried Astro's Playroom and it's awesome. I don't think there's any enhancement though, but I'd buy Astrobot if it's even better than this, which by all accounts it is.

That sounds.. interesting. Do you recall what was the area?

I'd love to see an IQ comparison, or to know if they've altered in any way the Resolution HFR Off mode.

It is considerably better than Playroom, and does some truly impressive stuff with physics. You should buy the game immediately imo.

Yeah, it's still 20% off for the holidays. I'll grab it tomorrow. Bummer there's no Pro patch though. Even Sackboy had RT reflections. Would have been nice to get PSSR+RT reflections. It wouldn't have added much, but if I'm not mistaken, this game uses DRS and goes between 1440p-2160p. Could have had a decent IQ improvement and some RT. It's odd that there's no enhancement when it's their most critically acclaimed first-party title and is still a hot commodity while the Pro is brand new.

Yeah, no support is bizarre. As is the absence of PS5 Pro itself from these game's PS museum/collections, unless I've missed some update.

Personally the only improvement I wish we had gotten are RT shadows. They are considerably better than those in Playroom, almost night and day, but RT shadows would have suited the pre-rendered aesthetic so perfectly.
I don't remember being once distracted by bad reflections, on the contrary I even impressed by them in the the Casino level. RT reflections would be surely welcome, but having to chose I'd certainly go with shadows.

Its not far from the beginning. Chapter 2 I think and my save loads me from a type writer inside a shed. Which you leave and there is a dead dog with its rib cage exposed by a another run down building. Its a heavy foliage pathed area. But back in the shed. Without VRR. Before if I panned slowly I'd get a missed frame or two and now its a locked 60. Image quality seems the same to me and we still get the menu background test as before, working correctly. Its a razor sharp image. But I never went into it as detailed as you did before. And I dont have a before and after comparison. But I believe we are good.

Played a little bit of the trial for Warhammer and goddamn that game looks good. I didn't really notice any frame drops so I assume they got covered by VRR.

I'm annoyed that I forgot to buy it during the BF sale as I had enough points to make it like $20 and returned my Steam version because I preferred to play it here.

What are everybody's thoughts on Darktide? I feel like I remember a lot of negative feedback around launch but between playing the OG Space Marine last month, the Secret Level video, and the trial of SM2 I'm in a Warhammer mood.

Well it is going to be Pro Enhanced, so I didnt think anything of it tbh.

True I guess... I'm curious how this will look on on the PS5 Pro, we've seen PSSR struggle with games which have RT dynamic GI systems like Avatar, and AC is using a similar system. Its also uses a micro-polygon rendering system similar to Nanite. I imagine with this feature set, the game will push the base PS5 hardware and likewise the Pro.

I assumed it would just be using Anvil? In which case you'd hope it'll be free of the snowdrop issues. AC Mirage runs and looks great on PS5 and Pro. I'm expcting it to look great - but that doesn't mean Ubi wont fuck it up. Such is the way of things these days.

Just bought Dead Island 2 along with the new native PS5 physical versions of RE2, RE3 and RE7. Was always kind of intrigued by DI2 as I love zombie games, and the reportedly very good Pro support finally pushed me over the edge. Hope it's a good game, and that allows for full HUD customization.

Not expecting additional Pro support for the RE games at all, but also don't think they need it as they finally offer a flawless 60fps experience in RT mode on this console.
