DF/Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 on PS5/PS5 Pro/Series X/Series S Preview - A Success for Pro Hardware?

Well my bad luck strikes again, had the options to pick what console to get it on. Pre-ordered on Series X as that's where I own the first game and it seemed the reasonable thing to do. Oh well hopefully VRR smooths out the drops on performance mode. 2 more days!

lol, why are you pretending that we haven't seen a plethora of Pro patches since it released? Don't worry about what I say sweetheart 👌

I remember at the start of the gen there was an interview with a crytek engineer stating he preferred the ps5 over series x. Can't remember where I read it.
Maybe cry engine is better geared for ps5 hardware and API?
That's quite a bit of a advantage that you don't normally see

That's the one. I remember there being quite the meltdown, because it was during the full on ps5 fud campaign. Good interview

It took you 4 posts in the topic to see who made it? My man so overjoyed with the results 🤭

Dont worry mate, they must of tested on a faulty Series X, the devs nicely sent me a code to test the game as im such a fine pillar to the gaming community and the Xbox family. I can confirm 4k 60fps, and 1440p 120fps with settings similar to ultra on pc 🟢💪

Can we get a mod to change the thread title. Advantage should go to the Series X. 🙏

im lovin my PRO more and more.

and whats up with the series X fps here?

Its an unbalanced PoS console, being outdone by a 36CU (PS5) while having 56CUs just highlights how brilliant PS5 hardware was designed.
Personally, I doubt it's due to any of that. Game companies have limited budget and manpower that they divide and assign to each port. Suppose pc is the platform wherein their game sells the best, they will assign the highest budget and personal to that, then ps5 and finally to Xbox. For ps5, the budget and team assigned has to work on ps5 and ps5 pro and divide accordingly with most work going to ps5. For Xbox, even with the smallest budget the team has divide between series X and series S with most staff and budget going to series S as that is the better selling model.

The reason why series X is lagging behind ps5, is probably more due to Xbox being the least popular platform and also due to having tos hard the budgets it's ports recieve with the series S.

Fantastic, amazing, incredible thread,

And the guy was 100% right. He even predicted higher res on XSX. Damn

I kind of regret not playing through the first game, but the PS4 version felt a bit rough to me, and it was screaming for an upgrade, even if it was just to add a 60fps mode.

It sounds like the sequel stands on its own though, so I should be good.

I'm playing the first on Pro. Sure it's 1080p 30fps but it runs fine and rare bugs. It needs an update but started playing it again because of part 2.

Still waiting for the tools update
Anytime now.
I think its the gpu frequency that fucked them. They wanted a silent lower power draw console and this is the result.

I say, fuck efficiency. Give me frames lol
The XSX can consume up to 230W in some rare cases, just like PS5. They have actually about the same max power draw. The XSX box is designed for that max power draw (which is why it's a very expensive design, double motherboard+ lot's of copper in a very small case). Unfortunately the hardware is not designed for game efficienty only and was also designed to sell compute to customers. That's on record from Phil Spencer himself. It's not a very well balanced hardware for game applications. Not one RDNA2 GPU have the same architecture and same cache / Shader engine ratio .

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.

Or more likely the PS consoles were the lead platform and the dev team weren’t too fussed in fully optimizing for a console that’s dead in most of Europe.

I think we’ll see more of this going forward. Unless it’s an xbox first party game, I can’t imagine any developer not taking the PS as the lead platform…and that’s even cemented more with the Pro console.

Awful jittery ssr even on pro... the state of devs 2025
At least the pro removes stupid mode but even then would be cool if 60fps was a toggle to unlock instead of using vrr system settings to do so.
One might want to be locked to 60 and still enjoy vrr for the dips?

Oh and there is gear clipping through the back shields just like in ac shadows trailer... but I doubt anyone will point it out here.
The flickering lights and models look bad too.
Shadows updating at a lower fps
cows appearing 10 meters from you with no fade in, low lod or nothing. just teleport.
meh....
I was strolling around the world of RDR2 recently and it just amazes me how nothing has surpassed it.

Maybe I’m misremembering but I recall people saying a few weeks ago that the Pro was missing graphical features that were present on the fidelity modes. Either they added those graphical features back in or those people were wrong. Whatever the case, the Pro delivers another win.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
You went from saying you wanted a 60fps patch to now not liking it.

That’s….a shame.

Yep, kept waiting for the 60fps patch, never came. Started playing the game early Jan (Xbox ver.), didn't gel with me for multiple reasons I've posted in various LTTP threads.

Still fucking bizarre that they were able to add a pretty solid 60fps mode to the second game after announcing originally that it'd be 30fps, but haven't gone back to the original game to patch it.

Very encouraging that a low budget game is getting a Pro version that lives up to the promise of fidelity visuals at performance frame rates

Means that it’s pretty easy to get great performance out of the Pro

People complain about patches, but companies sadly aren’t going to pay to put many resources into a game that’s steady shipped

Much easier to get good Pro versions of its baked into the pre-release dev cycle

Should mean great things for future games
