Some of the British teams don't get lottery funding? The government is a load of old wankers if that's the case (also true if it isn't the case). I have more respect for the ones that don't get help because at least they have genuine passion for the games they play and want to succeed.

Do they have to supply their own professional coaches or do they at least get that help?

Given the complete absence of government support in some cases it isn't surprising that we won't be able to compete with the top nations.

FIFA has imposed a two-match ban on Colombian player Lady Andrade after U.S. forward Abby Wambach said she was "sucker-punched" by her opponent in an Olympic Games soccer match.

Keep it classy ladies.

Can anyone explan why in volleyball, one player in each team wears a different coloured shirt. Use to know but can't remember.

They are called libero's. They can subbed in for any player in the game, but they aren't allowed to attack. They are purely for defensive purposes.

The technical rule is that the libero cannot play a ball that is in any part above the net. Being short means they can set the ball without accidentally playing it too high, in addition to the faster reflexes for digs.

Indoor womens volleyball is huge in Turkey. It's the most popular sports after men's football and basketball. Funny enough nobody cares about men's volleyball. Intresting fact is that the Turkish league is the strongest in the world with the best players playing in it. Like current best player in the world Korean Kim Yeon Koung and Japanese spiker Saori Kimura. And off course the entire Turkish team.

Volleyball is pretty enjoyable to watch turns out. Would be great for team GB to pull out a win here, sounds like its been a real journey for them.
