So... how come they put restrictions on the amount of medals that can be won by individual athletes in the Cycling but not in the swimming?
People have answered you multiple times.
The Olympics are just a collection of sports federations holding their world championships at the same place every 4 years.
The federations decide how athletes qualify. Some of these sports are more individual sports than team sports, and the world championship is for the best individual in the world at that sport.

No, they didn't answer that question multiple times because I didn't ask it. GB's Cycling team gets the amount of medals it can amass cut in half because of it's rightful success in 2008, but swimming gets a free pass.

No cap on medals, just a cap of 2 athletes per country per event.

only the top 2 from each country compete in gymnastics individual,l as well no matter where you qualify in the overall standings in qualification. The all around champion from 2011 Jordyn Weiber didn't make in to the final.

I thought Jordyn didn't qualify because she didn't place well in the qualifying rounds earlier this week?

Because anyone can sit down.
Just like anyone can float, rite?

It's down to different governing bodies placing different restrictions on their sport. Cycling officials place different restrictions to those of the Swimming world when it comes to their sport in the Olympics.

Seems like the other 2 were just faster swimmers than Lochte. He kept gaining a bit on the turn, generally but would just leak yards after that.

Man it's weird to see different people compete in these events. Grevers and Thoman medaled as americans in the 100m backstroke, Clary and Lochte here in the 200.
