I'm gonna miss the Olympics, it brings a tear to my eye. Here, I'll express how I feel

Don't worry! We get to see the Winter Olympics in a year and a half with curling, hockey, figure skating, etc.

Plus the Pan Am games are in Toronto in 2015! I hope I can get tickets. :x
 
Oh gosh. I tried flipping it to other channels past CTV for replays of Olympic events or something and realized that there's nothing to keep on in the background while I study. It's really over, isn't it?

In a way, I'm kind of glad my sleep schedule won't be messed up until the Paralympics, but I'm so sad that it finally hit me that it's over. Edit: Fuck it, I'm gonna listen to some archived streams on CTV while I get some notes written up.
 
I missed the Closing Ceremony, is there a site I can watch the entire thing on? CTVOlympics seem to have stopped all their feeds which used to record the entire day.

Also the Dragonheart theme. That's the one I always remember. For the longest time I thought it was the Angels in the Outfield theme. Turns out I wasn't way of...Randy Edelman did both so I feel a little better.

BBC has it full length and commentary-free, if you've got a UK VPN connection you can use.

I came here to post the exact same thing. The Remember the Titans theme fit in very well with all of the clips. Sucks to see the Olympics go. It also sucks that Comcast On Demand only have the Olympic games for another 2 weeks.
 
I think the highlight of the closing ceremony were the 'Angels' behind Eric Idle for 'Always look on the bright side of life'. God damn. God. Damn.... A shout out to the 'policewomen' during 'I am the walrus' too.
 
I thought a cool idea would be a GAF-lympics Committee competition, where we submit a mini bid for a host city in our home nations, including logo, mascot(s) and 3 or 4 main new venues or repurposed existing areas (like the Birds Nest, or marathon lap through old London town).

All gaffers vote for the winning bid.

Anyone think this would be kinda fun?

Too cynical. I hadnt heard her before but all I could think was "damn that lass can sing."

Besides if you are going to do that queen song live it was best to use a woman. A man would have invited direct comparison with Freddie.

It wasn't about her singing badly it was more about her trying to get people hyped when it wasn't needed. Plus her trying to hard to sing simple things (over singing).
 
Watching this on NBC...did they skip the end of it (extinguishing the flame, The Who) for Animal Practice?

EDIT: Nvm. I guess they're airing the last bit of it at midnight. Bastards.

K, can we put this to bed.... The UK doesn't ponce around in huge numbers with sticks and decorative swords in unison to try to tell the world how hard we are... That's reserved for the Queens Guards.

What we do though, is knock out some cracking tunes and put on a good light show.... Same as I fully expect Rio will be showing the world how to party samba style too...

Rio, do not disappoint.
 
As a Chicagoan, I can only say -- Godamnit Rio!!! The 2016 games shoulda been ours. (and goddamnit US immigration and custom policies for ruining our chances with the IOC).

eurosport guy was amazed how great his performance was. for his sake i hope he will never realize that is was just playback.
 
London seems so weird right now

It's like Sunday morning shopping after a big Saturday out

The Olympics were great. I'm inspired to do something for 2016. Prob weightlifting or kayaking

I'm not sure, one thing May does not need to do is to mime.

There was some funky sync issues due to the fact Tv sound was being matched to the stadium sound to give tv watchers that big arena sound, but that's why the artists have ear pieces in so they can hear themselves properly without having to contend with the echo which would confuse them.
