I've always thought of the athletics stadium as the 'jewel in the crown' of the Olympics. Seems weird to hold the ceremonies somewhere else, and then have an athletics stadium that is so small.

Reading about it, it seems like capacity will be increased to 60.000 more acceptable.

I agree with you, but Rio already has 2 great stadiums.

I've actually been somewhat inspired by these Olympics.

I want to get into shape (actually bulk up rather than the usual slim down), and take up a competitive sport.

Watching the Olympics at 21 makes me feel age conscious sometimes though :[

Ride horses, you can go to the next 10 Olympics if you're good.

Had to PVR the closing ceremonies, watching now.

Just want to say well done England!

Cant wait till my next trip over to see my sis and fam. I <3 UK.

Try watching them at 30.

It's closed until the Paralympics. Then it's £10 for a day pass, but I think they sold out of those already. So you would need to buy an event ticket in the park.

Will it be open after the games for a while? They're going to be demolishing stuff and starting regeneration etc, it'd be good if as much as possible is still open to the public.

Wow, NBC just skipped a whole ton, including A Day in the Life, Read All About It, Waterloo Sunset, and most of the Parade of Flags.

Random but I just remembered one of my favorite moments in the Olympics: when the USA women's volleyball team and their opponent (I'm sorry I forget who) kept going back and forth for game point when USA finally clinched the set at 29.

I was really disappointed when New York didn't win it, but thinking of all the construction, congestion, and attention just scared me off quickly.

New York or Chicago will almost assuredly get them in 2024 now that the USOC and IOC resolved their revenue dispute, IOC wants dat American sponsorship cash.

Not sure about after the Paralympics.

I would guess probably not for a while, just dismantling all the temporary stuff before they start the actual reconstruction of parts of the site would likely take a while.
