LPVG: Update on Zelda BotW's release and Mother 3.

How on earth did you read it that way ? Is your hate against her that powerful ?

Why would i hate her? I don't know her. It's just that her word is taken as gospel when in reality it's some truths mixed with false informations.

She wrote in that blog post that she's unsure now and she might have been fed false information resp. her source.

She got the two biggest titles wrong, no doubt in my mind that her predicted SW lineup is all wrong now.

The worst thing is you can be pretty sure that they won't communicate on the region lock before the release date because this is Nintendo. You'll have to wait for someone on yt to test it with games from different region.

Zelda should have always been a launch title

save Mario for the holidays because you can get away with having Zelda and Splatoon until May/June then unleash smash brothers and or Mario kart

Day one Zelda motherfuckers! Yeah!

The Mario game is supposedly close to done as well. Do they sit on it for a few months and save it for the holidays or launch it in May like they did Galaxy 2?

A Mother 3 diehard probably won't buy it if Zelda comes out on the same day, just wait until they big games are done and release it later. Seems weird but great if it is finally coming, would do much better on 3DS eShop though.

Releasing a 16-bit game and doing a big song and dance for it on a home console in 2017 seems off.

Personally, I'm in the group that has played but not finished it, though I wouldn't touch it if I had Zelda and a new Mario.

Edit: I'm not bragging about piracy, was more just trying to highlight that anyone wanting to play it can do so via the patch. I've not linked to it and don't own it, though have admitted I played it but didn't finish as I'd rather the real deal.

I think it's wrong to assume all Mother fans like Zelda and/or Mario, but the rumour is Q2, not launch. So they'd avoid that anyways.

Her initial Zelda sources were from NoE. Rumors are still suggesting right now that the European version of Zelda seemingly *has* been a hang up for some time, while US/Japan it is going to be launch.

It's not crazy to see how that led to her having conflicting info from reliable sources. She wasn't fed false info, she was sent conflicting info because her source was NoE, yet marketing and other sources from NoA suggested launch.

I think it's far more likely for a Mother fan to buy a console for Zelda/Mario, rather than Mother. If they are such big fans of the game to buy a brand new console to play it, I'd be willing to bet they've already done so by any other means.

Anyway, wouldn't it be much more interesting if it was the original N64 version of Mother 3, remastered?

Even if they buy the console earlier for something else, they'd still buy Mother 3, is the point. The people who played the fan translation will likely buy the official release because most of them are diehard fans of the franchise. That's all I'm saying.

The N64 version was never a finished product. It would make no sense to go back and open up old N64 code and finish that version and release it. Not only would it look worse than the GBA version's sprites, we have no idea how far in development that version even got.

Which is why it'd be a big deal if it was finished, remastered and released. Otherwise, Mother 3 in it's original form belongs on 3DS, not as a launch game for a home console in 2017.

Switch is a handheld, and for whatever reason, Nintendo never got GBA emulation running on 3DS.

At least they didn't officially announce it for Wii U or it will be riot.

In a perfect world it would be a BOTW type situation, put it on Switch first, wait a few weeks and release it as the Wii U eShop swan song.

I mean, people already have options to play Mother 3 on their Wii U. I'd just prefer to throw Nintendo $20 or whatever to feel better about doing it.

I understand the state the N64 version is left, just think it'd be much more exciting if it was finished/remastered so it looked half-decent. Would at least be something new and exciting, rather than something a large number of people have experienced.

Anyway, no point back and forth on it, I'd pick it up if it came to either 3DS or Switch at some point but wouldn't buy the Switch for it alone, so why release it under the shadow of the new Zelda and Mario games rather than wait till a dry Summer.

I've been saying this was going to happen for a while now in almost every Mother 3 thread. I know people have been skeptical, but since the robot chicken gag and the release of Zero + Mother 2 the translation has actually felt realistic this time. Since the rumours came I always felt it was just a matter of timing as it made little sense for them to not hype it for the next console instead. I don't think them sitting on the release is surprising or bullshit.

So they won't even show it next week either? Sheesh... I'm grateful we're getting this at all, but waiting this much while knowing it's a thing is killing me. I just want the GOAT Nintendo game to be available for everyone already.

Mother 3 was done but they didn't release it?
That's some serious bullshit if true.

Sounds silly but Mother 1 was localized more than 20 years ago and never released on the NES, and we only saw its official release 2 years ago for the Wii U VC.

I've mentioned this a few times in the Switch thread, but there's a few problems with having both Zelda & Mario on Day 1.
  • Having mainline entries for two of your biggest franchises would somewhat eat into each other's profits, even if both will have solid legs as far as long-term sales go.
  • Both on Day 1 would also leave every other third party game in the dust, which wouldn't bode well for the Switch's long-term third party support.
That being said, Mario RPG: Rabbids Kingdom Battle not coming until September would kinda leaves room for the 3D Mario game to fill the void as the Mario game at launch without much franchise overlap. But the issues mentioned above would still be issues.
I don't think a Mario Rabbids crossover counts as mainline. If you were saying not to have Zelda and Mario 3D on the same day I'd agree with that.

I was talking about 3D Mario. I only mentioned Mario x Rabbids as it would overlap with the 3D Mario game in terms of having 2 Mario games on Day 1 (which we now know isn't the case).

So LKD admits that she might be wrong on the entire launch lineup prediction just as i said when she flip flopped on Zelda.

Working in rumors and leaks means you will inevitably get it wrong some of the time. Sources can get it wrong, or plans can change.

Acknowledging those errors and updating based on new information is not "flip-flopping", it's honesty and transparency. If you can't understand this basic fact, you should stop reading and commenting on rumors.

It's clear that LKD (and Emily Rogers) has been right way more often than she's been wrong. You can't invalidate that with one mistake, no matter how high profile.

Anyway, wouldn't it be much more interesting if it was the original N64 version of Mother 3, remastered?

You can't remaster a game that was never finished in the first place.

Exactly, it's very much like opening your Christmas presents early or following movie spoilers, things change along the way and I think it takes some of the fun out of the proceedings anyways.

Perhaps, but that small niche is now virtually guaranteed to buy a Switch.

I still think sleeping on this and a localization of Dragon Quest X were two of the largest missed opportunities on the Wii U. No they're not going to be system sellers but some niche JRPG releases would have certainly helped appeal to anyone who was on the fence.

It'll be really nice to finally have a proper localized copy of the game. I played the fan translation(which was pretty darn good itself), and loved Mother 3.

I see LPVG/Laura only updated after Emily posted this

I find this to be a common thing for LPVG. Emily comments, others follow.

...how is Emily right on Mother 3 when her tweet from last year specifically stated 2016?

We know it will eventually happen before the sun burns out so she could just keep saying she's right every year and eventually it'll come true.

Plans change. MM3D also wasn't meant to be kept hidden for a year. But then the new 3DS happened and they wanted to launch it close to a major game.
